Yardage hard to find!!
Course is in good shape considering the temps the last month. Back nine played much slower than the front but overall not terrible. They removed the yardage markers from the cart paths. On course markers really hard to find. Overall good experience and would def come back, with a range finder!
Very good course, value and if you're near!
I booked last minute. I hit a few balls to warm up. I tee'd up by myself, and pretty much played without interruption. It is a very good layout, and has lots of challenging holes. If I was closer, I would play more. I happen to be a contractor that had a short job nearby, and this was the winner of the GN app lottery. Course was in good shape, even with the heat. They are doing a great job down there!!
Happy Camper
I have always liked this course. They keep it in great shape and it is fun to play.
Great Shape but slow.
I really enjoy this course. The grass was in fantastic shape except for several areas where the carts enter back onto the path. Tee boxes were soft and well placed. The green were tricky but fair once you figured them out. I know it is summer, but we had to skip two holes because they were running the sprinklers in the fairways and around the greens. Fairways were in spectacular shape, so I can see that the watering is working. The beverage servers were always around and they were both very friendly and quick but it would be nice to have some more food options around lunch. There was plenty of water on the course, but this would be a tough and dangerous walk in the heat. The cart are super comfortable, but could use an upgrade. The cart paths around a few of the holes like 9 and 18 are in terrible disrepair and almost impassible. Those who had their own carts out there were simply driving on the grass to avoid them. I will definitely be back out hopefully in the fall when it is not so hot.
Great golf course
I always enjoy playing Southern Oaks. I challenged myself and played from the black tees (6939 yards). A little long for me but a great challenge. Only complaint was that there were 2 fivesomes in front of our threesome and on the back nine it turned into a 7-some for a while. That made it slow. Otherwise, enjoyed my round as I usually do out there.
Great Course but conditions keep getting worst
Its my local course how ever fairways are terrible greens are bad. The course had an event and the players tee time started at 130 yet they booked us at 230 so our round took like 5.5 hours long. Terrible we weren't told about this.
Oaks on the Downhill
It seems that since a change of ownership the course is trending in the wrong direction. More hard pan is showing and the course just isn’t as plush as it was last year or the year before. Greens still are in good shape and roll true. Pro shop is great and course staff are great too!
Been a long time...
Considering I hadn't played in 2 years, (hip & knee replacement) this course was a perfect reboot.
However, there seems to be too much sand on the course because I landed in a trap whenever possible😂
Southern Oaks Review
I’ve tried to be fair here but the greens were not good at all and the fairways had a lot bare spots. It is definitely not worth what they are charging right now.
The clubhouse staff was nice and professional.
Won’t recommend to anyone or go back unless they either lower the price or improve the conditions.
Wasn’t worth the drive from Mansfield.
Great layout
Very player friendly course, Always enjoy playing this course
Great day for golf!
Most of the course was in very good condition except for some bare spots in various fairways. The greens had been recently sanded but played well. All in all a great day for golf!
Course Conditions FAIR
Compared to previous visits to Southern Oaks, I was highly disappointed in some areas of the fairways and rough that were very thinned out and bare.
Greens were horrible and bumpy and did not roll smooth. Played several greens that had standing water throughout.
Some pin placements were on slopes.
Just not the same experience I’ve had in the past.
