If you are not a straight hitter off of the tee box there are several holes that will allow you to play out of the adjoining fairways. or out of the sparse tree lines. The greens were in fantastic shape & probably the most challenging part of the course. They are generous in size, but have many varying breaks & roll very well. All of that said, a windy day & a weak putting stroke can make for a challenging round at this fairly forgiving layout. I'd definitely play it again, but there are certainly equal & better courses in the area that can be had at a lesser price.
GolfNow Screwed Up
Four of us, up before sunrise, drive an hour and ten minutes to the course only to be told there was no Tee Time as they are booked for a tournament. Now mad, they then explained that they have been telling GolfNow to remove them from their website for almost 45-days but they are still getting people walking up with Tee Times the course doesn’t have, all booked through GolfNow.
Overall for the price it was at average at best. Not very well maintained like it used to be. Definitely anything outside first cut of ruff, very tall and thick. The actual rough seemed to be not mowed for at least a week and the fairways in days. The greens were the best part of the course those were just about perfect for this this time of year. But it is in the worst shape I have seen it in years overall.
Didn’t even play
Booked a tee time online and drove 45 minutes to be told the course is closed for a tournament. Still haven’t received my refund from Golfnow. Common sense would tell me that if you’re closed for a tournament you would stop accepting tee times online. Who’s gonna reimburse me for gas and the convenience fee that non refundable?
Greens were nice and fast. Fairways were hard pan and some tee boxes were dry and torn up. They need to water fairways and tee boxes.
The greens were actually sand. I know the course has to aerate the greens, but I have played there before when that has been done and there was still grass on the greens. They should discount or at least have a side note of the course conditions before you book.
Course really holds up well under wet conditions considering the amount of rain we've got lately.
Decent course, staff isn’t helpful
Decent course, some green damage. Overall pretty good. Staff is unhelpful, uninterested in helping.
Course was in great shape for this time of year. Well manicured with solid greens. Staff was amazing all the way around. Kyle the new GM was exceptionally gracious and knowledgeable of the game and even took time out of his day to come help me work on my mechanics at the driving range after I got done with me 18. All in all, this is a great course for beginner golfers as well as seasoned players.
Course is in great shape. Always enjoy playing at Van Zandt CC.
Great course! Love playing there but they stopped honoring GolfPass. Usually played there one a week but most of the staff was not friendly at all.
Good place play but slow pace.
Enjoyed my round . Played front nine by myself in one hour. Back nine was slow due to foursome ahead. Will play here again if I get good deal again on cost. Regular prices here to high for this course.
