Club de Golf Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello
About
Neighbor to the Laurentian Mountains, the Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello Golf Club tumbles across a dramatic, rolling landscape. The course tightly winds through towering forests, which not only provides some challenging holes but also ensures a secluded, closed-in feel. Originally designed by Stanley Thompson in 1929, it has become one of the most popular golf courses in Quebec. In 1998, the scenic course was designated as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. The layout is considered one of the toughest in the province. The elevation changes throughout the course offer scenic mountain views but they also guarantee that a flat lie will be hard to find. There are a few water hazards on the golf course but the challenge comes mostly from the well guarded greens. In addition to the course, there is also a driving range and chipping and putting greens.

Pretty nice hole
Great view for nature lover !! Challenging course with tough par 3
Nice Fairways
The only real issue was the greens. They are playable but need attention .Nobody in front and back of us.
very unwelcoming staff
A classic Stanley Thompson track, and the one open to the public near Mtl or Ottawa. Pro shop staff ruined the experience. Particularly bad to golfnow customers. Tried to deny us the range balls included in our green fee, and had a hard time getting rain checks even though a storm closed the course 30 min after tee off. They really need to show more respect for their customers.
Beautiful venue with a maintenance dillema this year
Staff confirms that the grass on the greens was destroyed by the difficult and unusually long winter. Greens are very patchy.
Nice course, needs work
Played here a number of times, this year it took 25 minutes to check in, very poorly run pro shop. The course is a great layout, been around for years. Half the greens are completely ruined and the traps are full of dirt.. Needs a lot of work to get it back to a standard that matches the price.
this course has great scenary very nice fairways
alot of greens where winter burns about 5 out of 18 but nothing that can t be fixed very nice scenary will be back later in season to play this course . It was fun thank you.
This course has it's challenges!
Montebello course is one to be really enjoying the great outdoors! Although it starts off as a blind tee shot, use an iron or hybrid to start off. The layout is great, fairways in very good shape, but greens seem to have suffered a lot winter damage! They should be looked at a little bit closer for a relatively known high end golf course! On most holes, you have to be in the fairway to be succesful on this course! All in all, a great day!

Nice layout
Even if the layout is nice, the condition of the greens ans fairways are in very poor condition.
Luckly that we went with the Golf Now special otherwise I would have asked for a refund.
Great views and lots of variety with wonderful topography.
This is a gem of a golf course that is truly a bargain. It has been brought closer to the City of Ottawa by the completion of highway 50 form Gatineau to the Town of Montebello. It took us only 1 hour and 10 minutes from the west part of Ottawa. The course is not crowded so you can get around in a decent time.
Excellent outing
My wife and I enjoyed the picturesque layout and found the course challenging yet very playable. Many greens are still recovering from winter, but did diminish our enjoyment.
The course is in terrible condition. Not playable.
In fairness I have played this course before and enjoyed it very much but it has had so much winter damage that it is unplayable now and I suspect for some time to come. 80% of the greens are totally burned. There are many burned sections of the fairway as well. This will take weeks maybe months to repair but beware that in the meantime they will take your full price green fees and only warn you when you are sitting in your golf cart.
Fantastic course.
Been meaning to play Montebello for a few years now. Really glad I made the drive. Everything about the course is great, from, the beautiful clubhouse, to the course itself.
Every hole is different and challenging, every tee a postcard worthy view. An extremely challenging course that does not allow for errant tee shots, has very few flat lies, and difficult undulating greens.
Thank you Montebello, and Golf Now!!!
Overall a nice old style layout
Played as a single in the afternoon. Older style golf course with some very difficult tree lined driving holes. Scenic and intimidating, course conditions are relatively nice and the sloped firm greens add to the challenge. Only major hiccup are the bunkers which seem to be lacking... (sand). The par 3 9th hole is also pretty gimmicky in which a low handicapper would be more than happy to score a 4.
This course is great
You cannot say that the course is boring. The scenery is so great that during play, try to take some time and look around. The layout of the course is interesting with the up and down conditions of the terrain. The greens are in good conditions and mostly tricky because of what we say "optical illusion". The club house is old but beautiful. The staffs are friendly. I don't paly there often because it take an hour and a half to go there from my place.
Some of the fairways could have been greens at other courses!
In spite of a near torrential downpour the day before, the course was surprisingly playable. Other than for a few isolated squishy areas and damaged bunkers (kudos to the courteous ground crews working to repair them), the course was both challenging (not overly so) and picturesque offering some great vistas.
First time out. Will definitely go back. All around, a great outing!
Beautiful track. Every view is spectacular.
Other than the green being a little inconsistent (due to a lot of rain), it was a great golf outing and I look forward to the next visit. This is definitely not a boring course with lots of change in elevation.
Nice views
Unfortunately our experience with this golf course was not a very pleasant one as there was a mix-up with our tee time. The course was over crowded and very slow. After 7 holes we were already in 2.5 hours of playing. Ridiculous. I recommend they not over crowd the course on weekends with the hotel guests, not very pleasant.
Mountain golf. Good condition
Difficult mountain golf. Narrow and difficult. Green in good condition. Nice golf to play. Good value on Golf Now.
Great course and friendly staff
the whole course is a class in course management. very exciting. picture perfect on every hole.
Excellent and near Canada Capital ..Ottawa
Beautiful course...you have to be prepared with the grrens...they are very difficult.
