shut down
nice course to bad it got shut down
Gonna miss Wedgewood
I enjoy this course. It is a shame it is closing.
Wedgewood
Sorry to hear the course is closing it was a little run down probably because it is going to shut down.
Lacking
Needs a lot of help! NO beverage cart. When you leave the club house that will be the last time you see it until 18 green. You make the turn as far from the club house as you can get. So if you play make sure you have a cooler with drinks and snacks.
Happy Gilmore
I was very happy with my first visit. It was my partners first visit too. Both of us where very happy. Only one green was in semi-rough condition and a few of the traps could use a little more sand and a few trees have over done their stay, otherwise we were very pleased. It's obvious they've put lots of work into the course.
Food was very good. Served very hot! Possibly the best jumbo dog I've ever had outside of Chicago. Fries and onion rings were outstanding. The cook is extremely nice and the pro was shocked to learn Golf Now advertises the course with "whispering waterfalls," which no one knows what that means. haha
And let's not forget the cute cart girl who did well to bring us cold drinks. Highly recommend the staff and course. You can't go wrong!
Better than it was, but not great
I hadn't played the course for a few years and would have to say that it is in much better condition that it used to be.
However, the greens, which looked nice, were not true. Balls bounced all over the place and rolled very slow.
The halfway house was closed and there was no beverage cart on the course. A few places with water but for a round that started at 10 am we were looking for a Snickers bar.
They run a beverage cart on Saturdays and Sundays, also have menus posted up on every water cooler and trash can on the course saying to call up to the pro shop and they will deliver food and drinks out to you.
Very diverse course
There only a few straight holes, lots of dog legs and hills. Only on par threes you can you see the flag from the tee box but has wide fairways on most holes and they give a nice yardage book with detailed view of each hole. Accuracy is a lot more important than distance. Green are very cushy and stops ball very well but slow for putts.
A great track in pain...
This course has lots and lots of potential....that is not being realized...vital to stay on the fairway here...the roughs are deep and losing balls is almost inevitable even in the first cut...the greens were rough....better than awhile back but some were slow some were fast...all were bouncy...but this course is a wonderful place to play...wildlife and terrain changes...and some water to challenge you...
Priced right
I was very pleased with the condition of the course. The fairways and greens were well taken care of. The price was right and would play here again.
Course conditions are great!!
This course had perfect conditions. The fairways are greens were excellent!
I'm hoping this course remains open as I keep hearing rumors that it is closing.
Place to play if you are looking for a challenge.
Very pleased with the round of golf. Staff was very friendly and the course was in very good shape considering Texas weather. The greens had excellent coverage but slightly slower than I would prefer but once again Texas weather. This is a course that you must play a few times to play well and you have to be on your A game to have any chance at all to score well. This is target golf at its toughest. Good luck.
Good greens, bad course conditions
This was my first time playing this course and I have to say it was not worth it. The two good things about my playing experience was the good greens and the free yardage book. Some parts of the fairways had burnt grass mixed with bare spots and other areas were riddled with crab grass and weeds. The course layout was very awkward and tight. There were maintenance workers on several of the holes and they didn't bother to stop working even while in close proximity to where we were playing. I have no intentions of returning to play this course.
Great Course!
I have played here once before about 2 years ago. It will not be another 2 years before I go back! The conditions are great and the greens roll true. Cut in the middle of the forest, there are lots of opportunities to get into trouble and lots of chances for birdies and pars!
I love this course. it is a bit of a drive for me but well worth it. I strongly recommend this course to anyone looking for a relaxing get away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Great Value for money....Challenge for the novice golfer
I played this course for the first time a week ago. I'm a novice and was lucky if I played once a year. Just moved here from Scotland and now have the weather and time to get a couple of rounds in a month.
First round hit a 96 then yesterday hit an 87 so pleased with improvement in just a week.
Course is quite demanding for the novice as accurate driving of the tee required. Good mixture of hazards. Course condition is good considering I only paid $21 and $18 for my two rounds so can't complain about some areas of dried out grass. Will make this my 'local' course as I'm enjoying it and will continue to fine tune my game before trying other courses.
Wedgewood
Overall, this is a decent public course. The fairways, tee boxes and greens need some work, but are ok. Pace of play was very good. The clubhouse facility and employees are great.
surprised
I drove by here a few times and didn't think that much of it, but I have to say I was surprised. The course was in good condition, apart from a few greens. Is fairly deceiving for someone playing their first round, but that's to be expected playing any course for the first time that doesn't have GPS carts.. Also it is quite NARROW, which I learned all to well on the back nine when my play off the tee started to diminish. Overall good golf course. Got a good value with the hot deal. Only complaint would be those aforementioned few greens that could've been better maintained, and the yardage marker definitely need to have something done with them so they're easier to find.
The course was in great condition
Each hole was a good challenge but I did enjoy it.
Also liked the fact that a food cart was available.
However I would've liked that the clubhouse was
Between hole 9 & 10.
Good play for the value
This is a beautiful course with a lot of directional and elevation changes. A couple of challenging greens protected by water on multiple sides.
Rich fairways
Driving range is on top of a giant hill you have to walk up and wasn't very long
Greens had some spots that made putting hard. At one point I was 3 inches on the fringe and elected to chip because the edge of the green had a 1/2 inch idention
Overall we had a great time and I shot pretty true to my 20 handicap
Good value, but course needs work.
This area has taken some heavy rains this year, which have played havoc with the course: the rough, fairways, traps and greens. We played there a day after the course got at least 1/2 inch of rain, so it was a little mushy in places. The flooding conditions of earlier this year have damaged bridges, and further eroded the paved cart paths, which really need some work. Overall, a good experience, but the course needs a lot of work to repair the damage.
Course shouldn't be open . . .
Played this course last year and it was decent. They have totally lost the greens. I was told they were being aerated, but they are aerating dirt.
Staff was apologetic and nice, but this course should be closed until they have greens to putt on. You cannot putt ANY of the greens. One is completely gone, they placed a flag in the middle of the fairway. Sadly, that was the best "green" they have.
They run the beverage cart on Saturdays and Sundays only, also have menus posted up on every water cooler and trash can on the course, informing you to call the Club House and they will happily deliver any food and beverages out to you.
