Moon Lake G&CC

You'll find this 27 hole parkland layout about thirty minutes south of Saskatoon. Under big skies is this wide open playground with a strong links feel to it.

I wasn't aware that this course holds the highest slope rating in the province. That interesting bit of trivia influenced my decision to play off the gold tee boxes.

Four tee boxes on each hole provide unobstructed views of wide sweeping fairways which can tempt you to swing aggressively, but there is trouble to be found. Four inch rough followed by wispy native grasses. There are close to one hundred bunkers on the course, most of which are of the pot bunker variety and will guarantee an extra stroke if you find one. The water hazards come into play on six of the holes.

Greens are large and harbored subtle slopes that at times required a step back to reassess my initial read.

Birdies are there to be had but a lack of concentration on any shot can result in a big score. Moon Lake G&CC is a challenge all the way around.
