Excellent Despite The Circumstances
The Weyburn Golf Club has been in fantastic shape all season. I have played 5 rounds so far this year, and despite some hot and dry weather, crews have worked to keep the course looking good.
The front and back nine call for two different types of play. The front nine have more trees, and will leave you having to consider your next shot carefully. The greens are also fast, and can lead to tricky situations, in particular on 7 & 8, where the pin placement can sometimes lead to frustrating putts if your approach isn't well placed.
The back nine has nice, playable holes, where those with a long drive can take the chance to shave a few strokes, but if you miss, the natural grass rough will leave you searching for the ball.
The current circumstances are very well handled by the facility. While the absence of a beverage cart may be lamented from some, they have set up to allow people to preorder as they are making the turn.
The staff is fantastic, and quick to recognize even the non members who are there frequently.
Overall, I find my time played here to be quite enjoyable, and I highly recommend the course for anyone looking for a challenging 18, or just an afternoon with friends on the course.
Trees present challenges on the front nine. The greens are tricky throughout. Course conditions were very good.
