Yes it's worth the drive
I live in North Dallas, Plano area, always saw this course on the site and wanted to play it, but not make the drive. I got a wild hair and just decided to go play it. I am very glad I did. I played on a Wednesday around 3 in the afternoon. The greens had just been punched but I knew that before I booked it. I don't know the grounds keeper but compared to other public courses it was in great shape. The whole experience was very nostalgic, the course and facilities are old but well maintained. it has a timeless fell to it that I really like. I really enjoyed it and will play there every chance I get. Go play it you'll see what I mean. Give it two weeks and the greens will be perfect.
Great course
Played solo and enjoyed learning the course. Fun and challenging.
Very nice track
This old style course is in great shape. The fairways are lush and the green roll smooth, what more could a golfer ask for? The greens, as you would expect in an old style course, are smaller than you'll typically find but did not cause any real impact on the course's playability. Sand traps guard the greens but the quality of the sand made them relatively easy to play from. My only criticism is the length of time to play our round. It took us 5 hours to play on a Saturday morning. The marshal stopped and advised that a group two groups ahead of us was 2 holes behind but he took no action to have them skip a hole or let other groups play through. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a great track and is OK with somewhat slow play.
Best Round for the Money
I've always loved playing this course. For the price you can't beat the quality of greens, fairways, and hazards. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a challenge. Tons of shade for those hot dayssss a nice breeze comes from over the water. It was 98 at 2:30 when I teed off and still felt fantastic after the round was over
Great Value. Excellent layout. Average Greens.
Club house is small. Decent practice and putting greens. Definitely great value for the money. Greens were smooth. No bumps. The greens were sprayed with the green paint though. Smell like chemicals. No cart girls or marshals. Stuck behind a 5-some for at least 5 holes. Terrible pace because of that. Otherwise great course for the money. Would definitely come back again.
Great GolfNow Value
Enjoyed the round...the pace of play this time of day was great. 3pm tee time
OOCCC better than I remember!!!
First full 18 hole experience with both boys/men...we/they survived!!! Course is challenging, straight forward, not tricked up and plays like a country club!? Very fun!
This course is great
Great condition. Great course. Greens and fairways awesome
Excellent course
Excellent course will be back. One green a little bad overall course great shape. Need to turn over a few bunkers were starting to get real firm.
Fun course, Roughest rough
Fun course. Par 70. Fairways in great shape. Green were spray painted, but ball rolled well. Rough has been allowed to grow too long in my opinion; ball completely disappears unless you are standing right over it. This course has a fun variety of holes that make it really fun and just the right degree of challenging. Overall, I would return to this course an play again. Cutting the rough to levels that enable you to find your ball if you miss the fairway and improving the health of the greens would make this my new favorite course in the DFW area!
Great Course
Course as usual was in good shape. Not crowded at all. Only issue was the tall grass just off the fairways made it difficult to locate balls that slightly missed the fairways or greens causing our play time to increase unnecessarily. Other than that great course always.
Hidden Jewel
A great place to play golf. Very friendly and helpful staff. A hidden jewel in Dallas
Rain day golf
Excellent course....waited on hole #3 for a the rain to subside....after that clear sailing....course was in great shape even with the heavy down pours...drained well. Friendly and helpful in the Pro Shop.
Nice course
Challenging course, hidden surprises, nice greens .
Gret Old-school feeel
After a brutal winter/spring, the course has really found its stride (mid-june). The fairways and areas around the grees are plush and well maintained/mowed. Greens have come a loooong way. They are still hard, but are true and quick. A couple of bumpy and be a bit spare (9 adn 18 for instance) but most others are in fair to good shape. They had a juinior PGA toruney there the day I played and you could tell that theyhad pust some time into the course to get it ready. Great managment and pro-shop staff. And the food is really really good (and gals in the rest and on the cart can be easy on the eyes). The club-house it self is dated and old-school. Lots of roof/ceiling lleaks/damage but I undertand that they are in a dispute with the insurance company in that regard. Great value and highly recommended.
Great shape
The greens are rolling great and are in good condition. The rough is penalizing but fair. Speed of play on a 72 degree day in Dallas was pretty good.
Not worth it-many better courses for the price!
I have played almost every public and many private courses in DFW. I tried this course out with my father to see if it was worth the $40. Overgrown rough, hard greens that were slightly dead, extremely slow pace of play, and the fact that my ball was stolen from other groups twice in one round will ensure that I never return. For the value, I would take Stevens Park, Tennison Highlands, or Luna Vista any day over this course.
below average conditions
The greens are in bad shape. It doesn't look like the greenskeeper has been doing anything of value for the course. The fairways were cut too short, and the greens had bare to rough spots in them. I enjoyed the course layout, but it could be kept in much better shape for the cost. It has fallen a long way since holding the Champions Tour tournament.
They had a tournament going.
Course was in good shape. Only played the back nine.
