Course is CLOSED
It was a good play at the last minute course. The course itself was i felt a good lay out course with risk/reward holes and blind turns. I like the course but it was a poor maintained course. the fairways were mowed and the greens but the driving range was a field. I liked the course but it has since closed.
Has potential
Nice layout with a lot of native grass and trees. Tee boxes are fair. Sometimes challenging to find a level spot to tee the ball. Fairways are in really good shape. Greens are hit or miss. Some in very good shape, others are full of pitch marks and also have weeds creeping in. Where did the bunkers go? No sand on this course anymore. All of the bunkers are just grass depressions. Lady that runs the desk is less than friendly. A lot of the yardage markers are wrong. One of the par 3's is posted as 155 yards when the gps obviously confirms it is less than 120. In my opinion if management would put some money into the course it could easily go from a "6" to a "8-9". The $34/$39 price (weekday/weekend) is steep compared to other courses in the area that are in better shape.
Fun course!
I'm a beginner so I haven't seen a lot of courses yet but this was a fun day with fun friends. Staff was very friendly and the course is an open and natural terrain (links style?) course. Yes some of the roughs were very deep grass (but that's what the "native grasses" are I guess!) Bunkers do look a little bad but the few times me or my group wound up in them they played out ok.(#kind of a cross between sand and grass?, no rakes on course but didn't seem to need them really) Restroom on the front nine is well placed but was locked when we were there (maybe just because of the time of year?) but I grew up in the country and there are plenty of trees! Overall a great day and a fun time! I will be back.
Fun round
First time playing this course. Fun course. Makes u think about laying up or going for it. Use every club in the bag. Several sharp dog legs. Course just needs a little tlc and it will b an amazing course. We'll play again and again.
Labor Day round
People were friendly. Course was okay. Greens were in need of weeding and repair. Fairways were good. Rough was high in many places. I enjoyed it. Played in about 3 hours. I played the blue tees (one up from the tips) and except for a few holes it did not seem to long. the bunkers were in bad shape. I was in one of them. I hit a good shot but don't know if all the bunkers had good sand. I was surprised when the sand turned out to be good as the bunker looked bad. Most of them looked weedy and not raked.
I think they needed more people to help with maintainance.
I have noticed many of the courses going to long rough now. Probably from the US open.
Needs work
This course needs an infusion of cash. Like the layout and took less than 4 hours to play but overall the grounds need to have some work done to clean the place up. Greens were a little bumpy but decent, and please somebody put some yardage markers out there. Very frustrating when you are always searching for yardage!!!
Tough course -keep it in the fairway
great course the green are a little beat up other than that good times A
Don't waste your time or money
I have played this course since it opened. This course used to be the one of the nicest public courses in the Tulsa, Oklahoma area....Not any more!!!! Ever ownership has changed hands to the new owner, the course has been on a steady decline. First it was trees being cut out, trees the changed the dynamic of how you play the course not trees cut out to help airflow to the greens. Now there are little to no bunkers on the course....they have sodded the majority of the bunkers with grass...why????? The greens were in the absolute worst shape I have EVER seen them. It was smoother to put in the fairway than on the greens. Fairways were about the only bright spot of the course, even though some of them had large patches of weeds and dandelions growing in the middle of them. The front desk lady, Rosie, has NO customer service skills or personality whatsoever. It was like she was put out with having to check us in for our round. Now we only played about 7-8 holes because of the rain, but that was not an issue. It actually made the temperature enjoyable. That was the last time I will spend any money whatsoever to play a soon to be cow pasture!!! Don't waste your time or money playing a once great course, spend a few extra dollars and play somewhere much nicer!!!! Very disappointed to see such a once great course become an eyesore in such a short time.
got what i paid for
Bunkers seem to be under construction due to no sand in them and french drain pipes all over. Tee boxes and fairways in real good shape. Cant say that for the greens. Lots of brown spots so the ball didnt roll true. They had good speed on em though. Staff was nice and had no problem with my reservation with Golfnow. Didnt have a need for concessions. Was surprised by no more gps carts. Course not real good with yardage markings. Might want to bring some form of range finder.
Under Construction
Clary Fields used to be a very nice course several years ago while I was living in BA. I went and played a round yesterday (drove from Wichita, Kansas). The price from GolfNow.com was $19 per person. That's about right for this course in the shape its in now. Sand traps were grown over, the greens were very rough and slow. The fairways are cut nice and short, but the tee boxes were in less than desirable shape. Had to search for some tee boxes (grass was high, and the tee box markers blended into the landscape) The range was grown over and couldn't see where the ball was landing. There is no putting green.
Clary fields
Good potential but course in terrible shape. Tee boxes overgrown, greens terrible. Used to be better but also cost more. Fix the greens and it will be better
This course needs maintenance
5 year ago I use to play this course all the time and it was one of nicest ones around. Than it sold and just went down hill from there. Lack of routine maintenance
Greens a little rough
Great track, they need to roll the dormant greens... But the greens are better than I've seen them in the past.
Nice layout, but it lacks maintenance.
The fairways were nice, but the greens have dollar spots all over them. The practice putting green was horrible. The bunkers were not maintained and the weeds in the rough were out of control.
Overall rating for this experience was fair.
I enjoyed the overall layout. This was the first time I played this particular golf course. I was trying to get in some practice before a scramble tournament later in the week. They allowed me to pay as a single. I was a little disappointed with the fairways and greens. Various greens had burned out/damaged areas as well as bare spots in the fairways. Some attention will be needed before I try this course again
Poor shape
A lot of debris all over the course, may have been a result of a wind event the night before. I would have expected the course to be in top shape on a Saturday.
They hadn't dried any of the seats on the carts and the staff were unhelpful.
Nice place
Good course. Nice place to play. Close to town. Definetly enjoyed the round and will be back.
Very nice day of golfing.
The course was well maintained and very attractive. Enjoyed this round.
Nice Course
I am new to golf, but of the few courses that I have played on, this is my favorite. Location of tees are marked and clear with cold water at the beginning of every three or four. Fairways are well maintained. Greens are cut short, but there seems to be many divits on them. This was the only negative and sounds worse than it really is.
The tall grass/ Scotish feel was great.
I had a good time, but what was wrong, was really wrong. The bunkers were atrocious. They were so dry that they were cracking and pealing up in the centers. A great majority of the greens had burn spots on them and were an eye sore. There was a lot of water in play, which is fine, but it was stagnate with all kinds of algae growing on it, producing a displeasing smell. One reviewer said they told him they were planning on fixing the problem areas in the fall, but I saw no indication of this at the time of my trip. There was only one person running the Pro Shop and he seemed a little dismissive at times. High-school summer help, I would guess.
Now for the good.
- The fairways were big and easy to hit
- The really tall grass in the rough made for a challenging and fun obstacle. It also made it near impossible to find your ball if you sliced it.
- The greens were of average speed. Not too fast or slow. I did play right after it had sprinkled a little though. Not sure if that had anything to do with it.
- Lots of hills and raised greens so plenty of opportunity to practice those lob shots.
I was visiting Tulsa on a business trip, and played on a Thursday evening. From what I was told after I went, there are better courses in the Broken Arrow/ Sapulpa area.
