The layout on the back nine is really nice including my favorite hole, the beautiful par-4 14th. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 10/17/2018

Difficult course, unequal rule enforcement
We played the course on a beautiful, but chilly day (temps high-50's). The course looks fantastic this early in the season. Green fairways and putting surfaces with light brown rough areas and the bunkers had plenty of sand.
There's a ton of construction, both for the new golf clubhouse and surrounding homes, so there was no peace and quiet throughout the entire round. The current clubhouse is about a mile from the practice area and first tee. You need to show up 10-15 minutes earlier just for the ride to the starting area.
Despite no rain in the area for almost a week play was ruled as cart path only. Fairways were dry and fast, but you couldn't ride to your ball even at 90 degrees. Really? That made this hilly, unforgiving course to be even tougher than it needs to be. There was no one off in front of us so we got to establish our own pace, but by the 6-7th hole a couple of 4-somes had caught us because they were ignoring the cart path rule. So, to speed up, we decided to ignore it as well. Of course, by the 9th hole the Marshall caught us and reprimanded us but said nothing to the groups playing behind us. They rode all over the fairways through the entire round.
It's a very attractive course, very tough with some of the craziest greens and championship level pin placements I've ever seen. Tons of deep-lipped bunkers made it a rough round for our group (we shoot mid-to-high 80's).
Despite being somewhat local and getting a pretty reasonable rate from Golfnow I don't think we'll be back. Too tough and weird rules enforcement made for a less than enjoyable day.
No beer cart
It’s a nice course but every time I play they have a stupid reason why the beer cart isn’t running and the shack at 9 is closed. I expect more for $100 round. Take your own food and drinks with you.
Nice course but not for the price
Course was in beautiful shape. Was not a fan of how many short par 4’s there was. One was 260 from the whites which is so short. Other issue I saw was on almost every hole after 100 yards you couldn’t see the group ahead and there was no way for them to signal back. So on almost every hole you would have to drive up to see if you was clear to tee off which would then hold up the pace of play. A simple bell 250 yards out would work but there was nothing. This became annoying after awhile. I’m overall course was in beautiful shape, restaurant was good, club house beautiful. But for 80 bucks a pop there are better courses to be playing.
Great course
It rained a lot for the previous day and night, so it was very wet. We still had a great time.
Fantastic Experience
It was early in the season so the course was very wet. Only reason I rated it as a 4 star for course conditions. Staff are super friendly and course layout was fun and challenging. I will be playing here again.
Outstanding course
This course is in fantastic condition overall, and especially for mid February. Very challenging.... outstanding layout. Very good service and staff. Came down from upstate NY to get a couple mid winter rounds in and very happy we found this place. Practice facilities also very good. Highly recommend !
Excited for the spring growth
Love playing this course layout if fun and challenging. Greens are contoured and make for a tough up and down. They punched the greens a few weeks ago and are playing and rolling significantly better than the week and a half ago I played. I would rate the conditions better, however out of the courses control with as much rain as we have had. Very wet, bunkers not in good shape.
I think the course is going to come to life in another few weeks. Great play and highly recommend.
Surprised
Pace of play is really bad. Didn’t start on time because of backups. Ended up stopping and heading home; but noticed holes were open. So they need to ensure players are keeping pace with the group ahead. Still surprised by the shape of the collars around the greens given this is a high end course. I have played other courses and they are in much better condition on and around the greens. Love this layout but will never pay full freight given pace or play and conditions around greens. In the past I would praise this course when telling folks where they should consider playing; but, not now. I start my discussion with a warning before any recommendation.
Awesome layout - good for all handicaps
Many tee boxes - pick strategically. The holes are all different but favor the right to left golfer (which I am!!!). The greens have been aerated and they are still somewhat bumpy and the greens are multi-tiered on many holes.
The bunkers should be comply redone - they are an embarrassment. We played free drop out of the bunker.
The other suggestion is to add GPS units to the carts.
I will come back because of the layout and think the greens will improve.
Great Layout
Great course and layout. Very Challenging with lots of sand traps!
Wonderful Layout - great for all handicaps
Great layout - every hole has it's own personality. I am a 13 handicap and played the senior tees. Shot a 79!!! Greens were aerated and very angulated (27 putts for the round though!).
The one BIG negative: The bunkers should be torn up and filled with grass - they are not maintained and are unplayable. The other negative is that they have starters but no one watching the pace of play.
Poor maintenance
Golf course was not in great condition. All the bunkers needed sand...have not been maintained....grass was uncut in alot of places and greens needed work...alot of bare spots on greens. Overall, course was not well maintained and for a premium green fee of $80 with csrt for 18 holes, I expected course tobe in better shape.
Nice challenge
Course was in great shape and pace of play was excellent. Only negative started raining on the last hole
Thank you for playing our course and reviewing your golfing experience, as we appreciate any and all feedback. I’m sorry for the inconvenience of the course being cart path only. From December through March, we typically keep the carts on the path. It has nothing to do with the course being wet or dry, it’s simply an agronomic practice that has been in place since 2012. We have seen significant improvements with our course conditions by limiting the compaction of our fairways and rough. We always hope our guests will abide by those rules and I do appreciate your group honoring our wishes. Unfortunately, some follow them while others do not (even after they have been spoken to a second time). From your review it looks like you played early in the afternoon on the 21st. One of the groups behind you had 4 of our members, of which 3 required handicap flags. We offer handicap flags for golfers with ailments and disabilities. The majority of our rounds are booked through the golf shop. We are able to notify our guests at the time of their call of our cart rules. When booking through Golf Now, once you click on the tee time the cart path only notice shows up under the Online Rate. Going forward, I’ve instructed my pro shop staff, starters, and marshals to do a better job of explaining the rule to those who may not have seen the notice. I hope in the future you will give us another try. Again, thank you for taking the time in reviewing Magnolia Green Golf club and we are sorry for any inconveniences this may have caused your group.
