Black Mountain Golf & Country Club is conveniently less than a half hour from the Las Vegas Strip, but you would think it was much further thanks to the stunning backdrop provided by the Mojave Desert. Set amid majestic mountains and beautiful desert vegetation, the golf course offers one of the most unique experiences in the Las Vegas Valley. The 18-hole golf course is comprised of two distinct nines: Founders, the original nine built in 1957 and Horizon, which opened in 1963. The course opens with its own version of Amen Corner, a challenging trio of holes that will test even the most skilled golfers. Black Mountain Golf & Country Club's back nine is more open than the front and also has more birdie opportunities. There are strategically placed bunkers lurking along the greensides on both nines and water hazards also come into play.

summer golf
course was in good condition considering the heat. 95 degrees plus. greens were mid fast. pace of play was good after the first 7 holes.

Good value.
We arrived 1/2 hr before our tee time. The starter said there was no groups in front of us so tee off whenever we were ready. When we arrived at the 3 rd hole we had to wait for a group of 5 players. We wanted to play thru but they wouldn't let us saying that they were in a tournament. Really on a Sunday and they are the only group! Very inconsiderate. We had to wait approximately 10 minutes at every tee box for the remaining 15 holes while these guys decided to play. Very frustrating. Most golf courses don't let 5 somes go out as a group. This is total lack of consideration for others. Staff needs to be more aware of size of groups and the timing between tee offs. Ruined a great time. Have played here numerous times and never encountered such a fiasco. Will rethink about booking here again
It doesn't seem fair to judge a course based on one group of inconsiderate a-holes. If you were waiting 10 minutes per hole you had time to send someone for a ranger to enforce fair time-play etiquette or get them to let you play through.

Nice layout
I hadn't played this course in a few years. I forgot how presise you need to be off the tee. If you can avoid the trouble you should score well here.

nice surprise
Having played here at various times over the past and always finding the conditions wanting I was very surprised to find the course in wonderful condition.The fairways and green s were fine and it proved to be a fair test.

Nice off the strip course
This course could use some TLC but was enjoyable because the weather was a little unstable. It rained all day the day before but was just cool on my round. Played quickly. Staff very friendly and helpful

This Can't be Desert Golf
This was our 6th course during a weeklong trip to Vegas. This was by far the worst of them all. Rankings in order: Reflection Bay; Vegas National; Desert Pines; Stallion Mountain; Vegas Golf Club; then at a far far far 6th place - this pasture. Fairways were bearen or spotty. Greens weren't terrible but didn't roll true. Rocks everywhere. No way I return. Staff however was very friendly. Scenery was mariginal at best. Don't waste your money. Stallion Mtn had a desert look like this track but Stallion at least had grass in the fairways. Again, don't waste your money.

A Vegas Classic !
I always play this course when I am in Nevada, it is a classic. Because of 30 mph+ winds, we were able to tee off early and play our round in 3 1/2 hours. The staff is VERY friendly ! My only complaint was that a $79 green week seemed a bit expensive for a mid week round of golf !

Course Needs Work
Very friendly staff, but course conditions were awful if you are looking for something visually pleasing. Greens were rock hard, fairways wer mostly dead grass. But for $25 you cant expect too much.

Disappointing
We came to Henderson with the possibility of moving there. We were told the golf courses were great. We chose a public course which has a management company that manages other courses in the area.
This course was in the worst condition we have ever seen.
The highlight of the dsy was the free lunch.

Course Conditions poor
Poor course conditions. Missed lunch cut off by 9 minutes means no lunch. Staff attitude poor. Play if there are no other options.

Great for the price
Very nice course for the price. The holes don't align with any course APPS we had for scoring. A par 6 on the course.....

Not a good time
Tee times were 25 minutes behind. Spent more then half the time waiting for the next groups ahead. The pace of play was ridiculous. It took 3 hours to play 9 holes. At the end the food was okay not the best with over cooked foods.

Worse Golf Course Ever
This is the worse golf course I've ever played. The greens were like painted concrete. The areas around the greens were dead brown grass and you could not get the club under the ball for any loft. The fairways were brown! If I could give the course a lower rating like a -5. Save your money; do not play this course. You have been warned.

Regarding the "brown grass" please understand that we did not overseed the golf course like many other courses do in the area. The Bermuda grass that you see turns yellow due to the low temperatures in the winter. As the temperatures get higher in the spring, the grass will be fantastic. We chose not to overseed to conserve water and promote our Bermuda grass growth in the Spring/Summer/Fall months in order to make a very nice playing surface for our guests

The course was not in good condition. Maybe it is normal in winter time.
Please understand that we did not overseed the golf course like many other courses do in the area. The Bermuda grass that you see turns yellow due to the low temperatures in the winter. As the temperatures get higher in the spring, the grass will be fantastic. We chose not to overseed to conserve water and promote our Bermuda grass growth in the Spring/Summer/Fall months in order to make a very nice playing surface for our guests.

Enjoyable round
Found the staff to be very friendly. The golf course is fine for a wintertime course. No rye overseeding so not green as some, but very playable. Greens are firm and fast. Very challenging around the greens. Played twice and first time was rather long. Second time was about 4 hour round. Very enjoyable round of golf. Thanks Black Mountain for an enjoyable round of golf.
