Willows Run Golf Club - Eagle's Talon Course
About
Willows Run Golf Club has something for every golfer with two 18-hole links courses, a nine-hole, par-3 course, and a "themed" putting course that draws inspiration from courses in four different climate zones. Located in the Sammamish River Valley, there are stunning views of Mount Rainier to the south. Eagle's Talon is one of the 18-hole, championship courses. With four sets of tees, the golf course appeals to a wide range of skill levels. The links-style course is challenging but fair, with strategically placed bunkers and rough. Water also has a prominent presence, with the Sammamish River running alongside the two championship courses. The river is home to several runs of salmon and trout and it also attracts a variety of birds including ducks and blue herons.

Beautiful day, not the best condition for the course.
It was a beautiful day for April in the northwest. Decided to play a round with my friend so I booked a round at Willows Run. Must not have seen a posting for the course conditions, there were terrible. Greens were recently sanded, you would expect that a notice of that would be somewhere in the booking, and not rolled out so putting was impossible at best and ultimately frustrating. Auto two putts??
Then there is the rough. 4" cut is expected at the US Open but really here? Didn't lose any balls there but found many. Guess I should consider myself lucky compared to others!
I can recommend the 19th hole! We had a great time on the deck enjoying a beer and wings!
Cold, wet and fun!
The course was in decent shape after all the rain today.
Winter rate
Was in good shape and what A deal on golf now, greens were ok for December
inconvenience fee
payed $10 to golf now for a " convenience " fee only to find it would have been cheaper to book direct with the course itself. which I will do in future
Always a fun challenge
Coyote Creek is always a pleasure to play, a good course to work on revising your game. Eagles Talon is always a big of a challenge, but always fun to play. Love the condition of the greens (and this is late October play), so what a pleasure that the course was in such great condition!
Not a gem anymore
Of the two courses at Willows Run we played Eagles Talon. The course is a complete hazard with unmarked deep unsuspecting holes in the fairway, the tee boxes are the most beat up tee boxes I've ever played on and the greens are shaggy and in need a good mow. Twenty years ago this course played host to celebrity golf tournaments, well this definitely isn't the Willows Run golf course I remember.
Truly remarkable there are people willing to pay $40/$50 to play a round here. It's not worth $20 in my opinion.
Plenty of other courses to choose from in the area, this course is dead last in my book.
Needs a new greens keeper
when you play a golf course in August you don't expect the greens to be so soft and Squishy that it leaves footprints for hours...worst greens I have ever played on...someone should be embarrassed at how they do their job...I've never reviewed a course, but I've also never been so disappointed with a course...just my opinion
Eagle Talon at Willows Run
It's a fun, challenging course, but parts of the greens were horrible. It's overpriced at $60. I would recommend playing their Coyote Creek course for $42. Same type of track, but cheaper.
The facility is nice. It has a range and nice chipping area.
Surprisingly quick round
I often Golf this course in the early afternoon. This was one of the quicker Rounds I have golfed there in quite some time. The course was in decent shape but my putting was not.
Willows Run, Eagles Talon
All in all a great course. On good shape considering the amount of traffic it sees on a daily basis. The greens were soft and rolled on the fast side. Bunkers were in good shape, at least the one I played out of was. I'd be there again today if I didn't have to work.
Worth playing
I've played this course a few times, but this was by far the fastest it has ever played, possibly due to it being US Open week. Greens were perfect, probably rolling about 11-12. With the Hot Deal rate, it was BY FAR worth the rate, because I think in general this course is slightly overpriced.
A lovely round
I played in a foursome. Being it was a Saturday I expected slow play. But though the weather was good and lots of golfers were on the course I never had to wait. Not once. We had a really nice time.
A good challenge
This course is not for beginners. Tight fairways and crazy fast greens (I'd hate to play these greens in August). Whomever placed the pins this day needs to be evaluated for mental illness, impossible placements considering the speed of the greens.
But if you're an intermediate player or want a good challenge, Willow's run is a good course. I'll play it again, but only after it's rained :-)
Nice Greens
Greens are in great shape but the course itself was only in fair condition. Pace was slow but it was on a very sunny weekend day which made the course crowded.
Glorious Day for Golf
74 degrees in March was a bit unexpected. But so was the very wet condition of the course. I really enjoy Willows. Eagles Talon and Coyote Creek are both good tracks to play on. Wasn't expecting to play plop golf. No roll on the fairway at all. Lots of standing water. And guess it was too wet to mow the rough which was high. Didn't realize the course doesn't drain that well.
Just too darn slow
Truly, this round took way too long. They want to push tees out every 8 minutes. Which is just unrealistic. We had to wIt 35 minutes past our tee time because of slow play. 1 Marshall to govern both coyote and Eagles simultaneously. Plus $45 is only dictated by the city it's in. Not at all worth it. Go elsewhere
A Great Day At Willows
The weather was unbelievably nice, sunny and warm. The course was a little soggy and the greens were slower than normal... which wasn't a bad thing. We did regret riding since it was Cart Path Only (as it should have been). We walked as much as if we'd been walking. My ball didn't like to land near the cart path.
Playable in the winter
We played on a sunny day between two extended periods of rains. The fairways were soft but playable. Greens were in good condition, since they cover the green at night to protect it from frost. We played from the tips so it's somewhat challenging, since there's absolutely no roll when the ball hit the ground.
I played the same day and didn't find the greens fast at all. They were about average for willows. Definitely not as fast as last summer. Maybe they changed speed through out the day with play and growth. They don't seem to be in summer mode yet, maintenance wise.
