Cedar Crest Golf Club
About
Cedar Crest Golf Club in Murfreesboro sprawls across rolling farmland accented with groves of mature trees. The fairways on the front nine are wide open but they become narrower and tree lined on the back nine. The greens play fast and true and they are also well conditioned. There are not many sand traps to contend with but a smattering of elevation changes throughout the golf course cause an occasional uneven lie. Seasoned golfers looking for a challenge won't find it here but what you will find is a relaxed atmosphere that is ideal for a quick, casual round that is player friendly enough for beginners. In addition to the course, Cedar Chest Golf Club offers extensive practice facilities including a driving range and a two-tiered practice green.

Worth playing
Course was in good shape, green were pretty quick and tricky.
Staff is always friendly and accommodating, the food is good as well.
Grounds crew
When I first started playing golf(many years ago), the grounds crew would be on course EARLY as to not interfere with the golfers that are paying to play. Here, they are there all day, driving around, pulling up as you are about to play your shots and just sit there like a gallery until you play your shot and the go again. Not in a manner that is maybe the front nine then the back or visa-versa, but hit and miss in a random fashion. It’s a bit annoying to say the least.
No ranger to move novice golfer ahead of us along. Fortunately they only played 9 holes. Many unrepaired ball marks on greens. No on course refreshment service. Fairways in great shape
more challenging than expected
Cedar Crest has several challenging holes and demands all types of shots from a golfer.
Fun layout
I have played this course many times and find the course to be a good layout with several short, but very tight holes. The only problem is the course has a fungus plague a few holes. It’s also too bad that too many golfers don’t fix their ball marks on the green. I will continue to play this course and repair ball marks. The range could use to trim a few trees down because some limbs block you out.
Great first experience
We typically play Pine Creek GC, but after learning about Cedar Crest, wanted to try it out for a change of pace and was pleasantly surprised. After Windtree closed in Mt. Juliet several years ago, Pine Creek became the least expensive and closest option in the area. While not especially long from the white tees, Cedar Crest is much tighter than Pine Creek. This added to the difficulty. While some fairways are under repair (as of 7/24/23), it didn't take away from the course being enjoyable. Greens are in GREAT shape, but I will say this: if you're reading this and you're one of the aholes that doesn't fix your ball mark on the green, learn some etiquette. Driving range available with mats. No GPS on golf carts, but carts are in good shape and quick.
Excellent course
Overall, great courses. The fairways are challenging and the greens are in good shape. My only negative complaint is the driving range net needs to be fixed or replaced. The 18th hole near where you will probably be standing for your approach shot is directly to the right of a net. There are about 200 balls on the 18th hole fairway. Don’t hit a white ball on 18.
