A Must Play Course For Anyone
This is a fantastic course and I would recommend it to everyone. It was our first time playing here and we could not have been happier. They spayed disinfectant then power washed the carts before each round which was awesome. Fairways and greens are in excellent condition, not one dead or dormant spot on the course. *** Before teeing off on #14 drive or walk to the green so you fully understand what you are hitting into. Trust me. Great hole if you know iinadvance about the drop off.
February Golf
Fortunately this winter has been pretty kind to us in the northeast region ( Philadelphia area ) for golfing, my wife and I took a ride to Williamsburg Va for the Presidents day weekend. She is an elementary school teacher and had a 4 day weekend. We stayed at Kingsmill and had a nice stay as usual. I was going to just book the plantation course but decided to add another Williamsburg course to my resume'( Plantation , River , Golden Horseshoe, Colonial Heritage and Kiskiack > one of my all time faves.
I'm glad I played Yorktown at Williamsburg National, The course was very fair as well as very good condition. The greens where fast. It was cart path only due to all the rain that's been happening here witch is no problem Id' rather do that than the treadmill any day. I did not score well, not that the course was hard but like I'm rusty. My playing companions where local guys who gave me a few tips as we played. The kind of guys you hope to get when you call in as a single. My only thing is there are no yardage books, I believe these are a necessity for a " traveling ' golfer. I don't want to hear about download it on the phone,,, I want a book.
I think the fee for the day was fair as well. I did not stay for food but the bar area was full and sounded pretty lively. If you plan a stay and have time to play in Williamsburg put Williamsburg National on your list.
Chris,
Thank you for a nice time and some great sports conversation, you need to get up here for an Eagles tailgate !
Love this course
I really enjoy the Yorktown course. I like it more than the Jamestown course but both are fun. The only thing I don't like on this course is the ridiculous green on the par 3 on the back 9 (I think it's #14). It's kind of stupid. But the rest of the course is good enough that it makes up for it. All in all I think this is one of the most underrated courses in the area. Definitely worth the money compared to some of the other options around here.
Always enjoy playing.
Very wet today. Cart path only. They made you ride two to a cart even with increased COVID numbers. There were plenty of carts. Two to a cart but no ball washers or rakes in traps. Definitely needed ball washers.
Can’t beat it for the price
I think this course provides such a great value. It’s always in tremendous shape and is one of the cheapest in the area.
Must Play in Williamsburg
I know there is a lot to chose from in Williamsburg but this course should be on your list. Amazing poace of play, great conditions and challenging enough for any level with the 5 tees.
Tricky
The course, for the most part, was very straight-forward, but the day we played it was very windy (20-25 mph and gusty) so it was a very difficult day. Our only complaint, and I'm sure you hear it a lot, is the 14th hole, a par 3 from 150 yards that should be replaced with a par 3 that is a fair hole. The green is very deep and at the back of the green there is a slope that drops 5 or 6 feet to the back edge at the water. If you go over that slope with any speed you will probably be in the water. Playing into a 25 mph wind made this hole ridiculous. I would play the course again but not in windy conditions.
Really enjoyed the Back 9 layout
I’m a local, so it’s a course like to play, and the food at the grill is really good. The Yorktown course opened yesterday after being closed for summer maintenance. It was not 100% just yet, but fairways were in amazing shape. It was the first time I ever got to play the back 9 on this particular course, and glad I did. I really enjoyed the layouts , and I look forward to playing it again.
Great layout!
The Yorktown course is a great layout. No two holes are alike. It’s fair but challenging. The greens were in very good shape and rolled pretty true. We played on Fathers Day and the course was pretty crowded but we still finished in about 4 hours. Great experience and one of the best values I’ve ever had on a golf course. Under $40 for an afternoon round. I’ll be back again and again!
Great Experience
Perfect conditions with excellent greens running fast and true. Fairways were in great shape with grass well maintained and basically no divots.
