The Lamberts Point Golf Course
About
Lambert's Point Golf Club in Norfolk sits along the banks of the Elizabeth River, offering scenic river views from every one of its nine holes. The course is located on Old Dominion University's campus, doubling as the training facility for the school's golf team. The layout has a traditional links-style design that will challenge even low handicappers. It has all the challenges of a full-length golf course with dramatically rolling terrain that causes tricky uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies. It's a very tight course, which means that shot placement will be an important factor on every hole. While you may not need a driver, accuracy is a necessity. Even slightly errant shots will be severely penalized. Before tackling Lambert's Point golf course, you can use the impressive double-story, covered driving range for warming up.

Know where to hit
Good course, good water views, good greens for putting very challenging. Sand traps were in terrible condition.
Challending course with interesting layout
This is a fun course with some challenging landing areas. You have to be precise with not many opportunities for driver.
beautiful
Great place in great shape with cool views. I hope to play there again in the near future.
Very challenging but exciting course
Hang up the driver you won't need it for this course. Lambert's is a very challenging links style golf course that requires accuracy and careful navigation. Had a great time out there for the first time but you will need someone with experience there or a GPS to get around without losing dozens of balls. Can't wait to play there again, only downside for me was driving range is mats only but they had an excellent short game area.
Hidden Gem!
Bought this on GolfNow, completely surprised at how much fun this course is to play. Granted, this isn't Torrey Pines, but for the price, you can't beat it! They've got a great chipping area and putting green, a fair driving range though you hit off mats. Very reasonably priced and if you get a "hot deal" it's a no brainer. The views were beautiful too!!
Good pratice.
People were very nice and appreciated the business. Course is tight with a lot of elivation changes.
Interesting layout...out of the norm
I played this course in about 2-1/2 hours on a Saturday AM. This course is" out side of the box" in terms of layout. You have to think your way around it, but it's fun! I like that there are some blind shots and you have to use your imagination. It was fairly windy when I played, and since it's on the water and boasts the highest point in the City of Norfolk, that was an added element to have to deal with. The greens appear to have been aerated about 2 weeks prior to my round so there was still some top dressing on them which caused them to be a little slow, but they putted true to the break. I'll play again for sure. It's a nice change from the straight away par four dominated flat courses in the Tidewater area.
a challenge
Lots of blind shots so get some tips from the staff before you take on this challenging course
Hit straight or bring alot of golf balls!
Fun course. Narrow fairways require accurate shots. The view down on the harbor was neat, but the sewage treatment plant wasn't. I recommend you bring your buddies over here and the winner will truly have bragging rights that mean something. The course is easy to follow except for hole #3. I didn't know where to go after my tee shot. So go 90 degrees left after your drive (over the ravine). I'll be back again.
Challenging course
This course challenges your accuracy and short game.
Great Value
This course is a great value and is very challenging for a 9-hole course. With so many people using GolfNow discounts, the course was very crowded on Friday. Since there is only 9-holes, the first tee was backed up.
9 Challenging Holes
I was surprised to find out that this course was only nine holes. I didn't know until I got there. What makes this course challenging is that most shots are blind; you can't see the green from your drive. Additionally, the wind off of the bay makes a straight drive difficult. Bring lots of balls because you are bound to lose at least two. In fact, if you can make it through the round without losing a ball, you are not going to enjoy the challenge.
I enjoyed this round. I was thankful to join a threesome who knew the course otherwise I may have actually got lost on this short 9-hole.
Great day out on the links.
I have always liked the course and staff. Marcus is a great manager and his staff, especially Andrew, was very accommodating on my last visit. It is a course with a circle of players that always make you feel like home.

Pleasant Surprise
This is a very fun course to play! I happened to be in my hometown of Chesapeake, VA and decided to play a quick 9 with a childhood friend who plays this course often. The first thing he says is "wait until you get to hole #3!" As he was saying this, another patron who overheard us looked and started chuckling and said "have fun, you are in for a treat!" The comments weren't made in a condescending way or anything like that.
So, there we are on the first tee. Straight uphill! Unfortunately, the net for the driving range has a huge hole in it so you have to be careful when teeing off on the first tee. Upon look UP at the pin I knew that this was going to be fun/interesting round. Then comes the infamous third hole. It is a HARD dogleg left. It took me a few minutes to actually find the pin. I kept looking at another pin and my buddy kept telling me nope, that's not it. Ironically, the same gentlemen who we saw earlier was finishing up an adjacent hole and chuckled, LOL!
This course was indeed a treat to play. The views are very nice. The pace was very nice. You have to be careful of players from the Old Dominion University golf team practicing, but it wasn't distracting. This will be a regular course for me whenever I visit my old hometown.
