Spring Creek Golf Club
About
Spring Creek Golf Club, which is just outside of colonial Charlottesville, tumbles across the wooded hills that sit beneath the mountains of central Virginia. The scenic course winds through mature trees and it is also accented with rock walls and bridges. The layout will test your accuracy with its narrow fairways, water hazards, and strategically placed sand traps but it is still playable enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels, and there is plenty of scenic respite as well to make the round well worth the reasonable green fees. The golf course is relatively young but it has quickly garnered a strong following. When it opened in 2007 it was named the "Best New Affordable Course" by Golf Digest, and since then the accolades have kept coming, including being ranked as one of the top 100 public golf courses in the country.

the par-3 8th is the easiest par-3 on the course. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2018

The par-4 10th is an iconic dogleg right and usually has an insanely tough pin location. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2018

The par-3 13th is one of the tougher short holes on the course and one of my favorites. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2018

I'm a sucker for split fairways, like this one on the par-4 14th. The 16th and 18th also have rough running through the middle. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2018

Great Day!
Beautiful course and great layout. I could not believe the attention to detail down to patterned cut lines. I am only mentioning the negatives because they are rather pretentious for a public course. They love to mention their "members" and that they are top 100. The carts were in rough shape and there were virtually no ball washers. All-in-all, a fabulous day of golf on a beautiful course.
Awesome course!
Worth the drive from Richmond, the fairways were immaculate and the greens rolled very true. I will return soon with another hot deal from GolfNow!
Design, views of holes, shot versatility, and speed of greens - excellent
For the above reasons I would become a member if I lived closer.
Because of the golfnow special deal, my threesome was paired with a player and he was not capable of keeping up with us and we are slow players. Made for a frustrating day as we had to let twos, threes, and single players play through. Next time we will try to talk to proshop about going out as a threesome only. It is still worth going again and again because the course is so challenging.
Great Course
This course is in phenomenal condition. The greens are quick and roll true. The fairways are in great condition. The layout provides a challenge and will make you think about your shot, but is playable for people of many different skill levels. I will say though it plays longer than the scorecard states.
Pristine conditions
This is probably one of the best couses I've played is was in pristine condition in the middle of July.
really nice!
We loved this golf course,,, and will look forward to the next time we can play.... Pristine course, super friendly staff, a thrill to play!
DON'T LET THE TEMPORARY CLUBHOUSE FOOL YOU!
THIS COURSE IS MAGNIFICENT. GREAT LAYOUT, MEMORABLE HOLES, OUTSTANDING COURSE CONDITIONS. THE STAFF WAS SUPER FRIENDLY AND ACCOMODATING. STAY OUT OF THE ROUGH. IF YOU FIND YOUR BALL YOU WILL PAY THE PRICE IN SHOULDER SORENESS THE NEXT DAY. A GREAT EXPERIENCE ON A GREAT COURSE. YOU CAN SEE WHY ITS RANKED NO# 58 ON THE TOP 100 PUBLIC COURSES.
Awesome Course
It is difficult to identifing one hole that could be a signature hole on the course. The green were firm and fast but the ball rolled so true. As you would expect from a great course there isn’t a bad hole to be found on the property and the elevation changes throughout the course deliver excellent variety and enjoyment. I will try to play again
This is a very fun course to play! It will definitely test all of your skills.

When You Want to Play Somewhere Nice...
Spring Creek is a very well-maintained course with fast greens, soft fairways, and thick rough. Holding out for a good GolfNow deal is key, as weekend rounds can cost upwards of $70, but include cart and practice range balls.
The day I played there had been quite a bit of heavy rain so many of the bunkers were washed out but there was no standing water.
A brief but strong thunderstorm brought my round to an abrupt end after 11 holes but the staff gladly offered a pro-rated rain check.
If you can pay less than $60 for this course, it's a good deal, less than $40, it's a steal.
Very Nice Course
Can't say enough about the condition of the course! The greens were fast and true, the fairways were nice, and the tee boxes were in great shape. The clubhouse was not up to par with everything else, but if that's what it takes to have a course like this I'm all for it!
Top 5 Course in VA, Public or Private
This place is amazing. I recently played the Kingsmill River and Woods courses and Spring Creek blows them out of the water. Immaculately kept. Challenging undulating greens. Legitimate PGA tour design/layout and pins if you want to play the tips (I believe it's 7,300 yards). Just book a round here, you'll have a great time.
Well maintained course
This is a fantastic course, and I'd recommend everyone to play it at least once. I will definitely be back.
over all excellent course
Arrive late for my tee time trying to fine the entrance, when this young lady stop and told me to follow her.Went in to pay when the starter told me my group had already left, he said we could go to the next tee and meet our group which was very nice. The course was in excellent shape, two gentlemen John and J C were very receptive and willing to help us. Everything about this course was professional. Must play! course ,will return. The Coach!
Great Hot Deal!
Picked up a great hot deal for this course, although after playing, I would have gladly paid the going rate. Course conditions were excellent for March.
Greatest course in central and western virginia
The course was in excellent shape considering the amount of rain they have had recently. We were unable to take the carts on the fairways. That was an appropriate decision by the club.
However, the hilly nature of the course makes walking from and to the cart paths tiring for senior citizens. I would not play the course again under those restrictions. Handicap flags were not allowed. I look forward to returning to Spring Creek under different circumstances.
well worth the drive
It was worth the drive of an hour.Course was very nice.Lot of sand traps. You better hit it straight.Even had a little snow with the wind when we played and nothing was going to deter us from fininshing
Remains one of the top courses in Virginia.
The 50 min drive from Richmond was worthwhile, even as snow remained on parts of the course. The greens were in excellent condition despite recent weather. As I've experienced below, you can count on the greens to roll true on this course. Fairways were visually in great condition as well. The entire course was quite playable. I look forward to playing again in mid-season.
Best in the Area
Best course I've played around Charlottesville. Was in good sharp even when it's snow (a bit). 18 hole have a lot of fun. Will be back to play in spring.
