Spring Creek Golf Club
About
Spring Creek Golf Club, which is just outside of colonial Charlottesville, tumbles across the wooded hills that sit beneath the mountains of central Virginia. The scenic course winds through mature trees and it is also accented with rock walls and bridges. The layout will test your accuracy with its narrow fairways, water hazards, and strategically placed sand traps but it is still playable enough to appeal to a wide range of skill levels, and there is plenty of scenic respite as well to make the round well worth the reasonable green fees. The golf course is relatively young but it has quickly garnered a strong following. When it opened in 2007 it was named the "Best New Affordable Course" by Golf Digest, and since then the accolades have kept coming, including being ranked as one of the top 100 public golf courses in the country.

the par-3 8th is the easiest par-3 on the course. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2018

The par-4 10th is an iconic dogleg right and usually has an insanely tough pin location. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2018

The par-3 13th is one of the tougher short holes on the course and one of my favorites. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2018

I'm a sucker for split fairways, like this one on the par-4 14th. The 16th and 18th also have rough running through the middle. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2018

A great finishing hole with water all along the left side of this par-5. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2018

All 18 holes are beautiful and well maintained!
Enjoyed playing Spring Creek and its upscale feel. For $22 it was a steal. The greens were challenging, with a fair amount of tough pin locations. The fairways are generous but misses are punished. One the best courses in central Virginia. A must play!
Great course
I've played this course many times and its always in pristine condition but this time of year they are doing maintenance on the course. All of the rough had been aerified and the bunkers had not been raked but to be honest the price we paid was fair in regard to the course condition. I will be back in a month or so and I have no doubt that the course will be back in excellent shape. The crew has done a huge amount of work since I last played, mostly clearing out brush and removing trees that were in play. The course should be awesome for the start of the golf season this spring.
This course is a JEWEL....
Having recently retired last year, several of my friends and I are taking day trips to courses in the area. It is always a pleasure to visit Spring Creek, it's majestic white sand traps and bent grass fairways. We go there several times a year. Kudos to the pros who are ultra friendly.
wonderful layout.
just the right amount of challenge and playability.
The course was in great condition.
The course was in great condition, I played with 3 very nice people.
Top notch course to play.
From tee to green the layout is a gem to play, am looking forward to bringing more of my fellow golfers up that have not played this wonderful course.
Unbelievable!
One of the finest courses that I have ever played! I could not believe the condition of the course for January...green and immaculate. The only part that could have been better were the bunkers, but considering it was January what can you expect? Why do people not rake bunkers? The fairways are generous, the greens large, the layout amazing. A very fair course that will suit any playing ability. The course is beautiful! I would have to say that the 18th hole would rival any finishing hole around for beauty and challenge...what a way to end a superb day of golf. I will definitely play here again. If you have to travel there, do it! It is worth the time in the car and you will be thinking of how wonderful your day was on your drive home.
best layout and conditions anywhere around here very scenic with crosscut fairways
played this course since it opened, fell in love with layout and condition of course, nicer than most private courses I have played, very challenging with size of greens and speed
Great course and value
Thought course was in great shape ffor this time of year. Really was surprised the fairways were still green. Greens were fast enough but a little bumpy. Pace of play was slow as it took us almost 5 hrs to play. I didn't see a Marshall at anytime to speed things along. That would be my only complaint. Value was awesome thru golf now and the grill selection on the hotdogs was great. Would recommend to anybody.
Best Public Course in VA
Just a fantastic course. Challenging yet very fair and playable. All 18 holes are memorable. Conditions are outstanding ... very fast and undulating greens. Only issue at this time of year is they are hitting off mats on the par 3's ... didn't mind it a bit though ... a small price to pay as the grass isn't growing any more and no need to tear up the tee boxes this late in the season. Definitely worth the drive from anywhere to play this gem of a course.
The prettiest course around this area, The greens are very fast, fairways and bunkers very well maintained; keeping the ball in the fairway is a must
First of all, the staff is very friendly and it is a first class operation from top to bottom. The course was in great shape to be late November and the course is really beautiful. A very challenging but fair course and well worth the price. A must play for the avid golfer when in Central Virginia. Highly recommended.
Course has it all...
Test every part of game Green's lightning fast.Fairways and the whole course...Excellent Shape!!!
Outstanding!
Course is always in pristine condition. The greens have moderate undulation, but are quick as glass. Be careful. Don't leave yourself with downhill putts!!!
Great condition!
The course was in immaculate condition! Greens were very fast and challenging. Starter was friendly and gave clear, concise instructions. Beverage cart came around at least 3 times duing the round (and she was good looking!).
Terrific, very challenging course
Unbelievable course conditions. Greens were fastest I have played in years and in great shape. Fairways were immaculate. Played after noon on a Sunday to keep the price down and it was well worth the money. Beautiful setting. One of the nicest public accessible courses in the state.
Fast, undulating greens!
Spring Creek deserves all the accolades it has received. Worth the 90+ minute drive to get there from Northern Virginia. Friendly staff, good range and warm-up areas. Would like to see more information on distances (yardage markers). Please keep it on golfNow.com as I would love to play it on a monthly basis.
Exquisite.
Quite simply, if you're anywhere close to the Charlottesville area, you MUST play this course.
This Course Is Very Nice.
Staff are very friendly as well as the members. I like playing this course because it's challenging and i love the view surrounding the course.
springcreek golf course
Springcreek has been the most challengeing course on my play list. It has been the closest course to a pga structure that I have the privilege of playing. It has really helped my play in evaluating my progress getting my golf game to a higher level. I hope that being able to continue getting spicial play offers in the future is in place. I have recomended the the course to friends and will continue to do so. I have had good reports on the course and the lay-out. Thank you for the offers on being able to play there and hope to continue to do so in the future.
Bent Grass in Virginia - Terrrific
