Bayside Resort Golf Club
About
Bayside Resort Golf Club has a scenic location overlooking Assawoman Bay. The club boasts one of the Ocean City area's only Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses. The course stretches to a whopping 7,545 yards from the signature tees, offering plenty of holes for long hitters. Nicklaus created a tough test of golf that features a wide variety of holes. The natural wetlands and woodlands were not only carefully preserved but also incorporated into the course to provide interesting hazards. Although natural hazards abound, there are also several strategically placed bunkers lurking throughout the golf course. In addition to being a challenge, many of the holes also take advantage of the beautiful views of the coastline. It is a formidable but fair course that is made more approachable to different skill levels with four other sets of tees.

Not a Nicklaus BUILT course
So, first of all, I had a good time playing the course, the layout is challenging and risky. The quality of the course is the only issue I have and it’s huge. The greens were nowhere near the quality of a Troon Course and the sand traps are even worse. Traps weren’t raked clear prior to play, it had not rained in days but the bunkers were crusted over and very thin. The first green was so slow the ball quit rolling along a down hill line, the second green was so fast that holding the green was improbable. Walking across the apron on the back nine was like walking over a marshmallow field. I’m saying that there was no consistency to the course. I had high expectations and they simply aren’t met here.
I have discovered that there is an enormous difference between Nicklaus Desgined and Nicklaus Built. I will not play here again. As a way of comparison, I have played Pebble Beach, Plantation and Kiawah Island. Plantation & the Bay Course are Troon courses worthy of their reputation.
Awesome layout and great condition..!
It was awesome looking course and HARD..!
But it was worth every penny I spent, will definitely come back..!!
Great Value for the GolfNow Price!
Played as a single from the Green/Members tees which were back with Gold on several holes. The course is picturesque along the Assawoman Bay estuary and marshes. This was a very stern test of golf with water and/or forced carries or both on each holes. Must bring your best game and for those who are not straight I suggest bringing an extra dozen golf balls as very easy to lose a LOT of balls. I loved the green as putted very true and were perfect speed for good players. I got a GolfNow tee time so not pay full rate so for that price was a great value! I will play course again
Tough course in the wind.
Played in two club wind. Made it very tough. Course was in good shape .
This course is in great condition setting in a housing development
Great layout with different types of holes. Has more bunkers than many courses. Loved playing it.
Nice Challenging Course - Par 5's make you think
Staff recommended we play up one set of tees from what we originally planned and both of us at a 9 handicap we're glad we did as we played the members "green" course and it was plenty challenging. Par 5's were tricky as you really have to get 2nd shots in right place or pay the price. Our only request for improvement would have to have a ranger light a fire under the foursome in front of us who had no one in front of them, held up the whole course and had to have been close to a 5 hour 30 minute round or more as we caught them on the back nine and they made it easy to lose interest as they were that slow. All in all looking forward to playing the course again now that we have seen it once.
Challenging course
This course was amazing. Loads of risk and reward shots tons of hazards that if you hit into you are punished for it. The bunkers some are deep to the point the best play is to just splash out as hard as you can and go from there. The course was beautiful the marshland and the bay was the perfect touch to this course. The staff was very friendly and the pro shop was well stocked as well. I would recommend this course if you're looking for a fun challenging course to play in Delaware.
fair test; lots of trouble
This course will expose any weaknesses as the amount of trouble is extreme.
Played on soggy day but course drained well. Greens were fast but not too much which is good as they are very undulated. Fairways were in great shape and no standing water.
Was missing to both sides which is not good on this course as trouble is everywhere.
Played in under 4.5 hrs which is good for this course. Waited on groups in front of our foursome but not too bad.
Will definitely play again.
Great course, was in great shape the day we played. Never really waited after the first hole. Course was very challenging and the only thing missing was GPS in the carts. Would have been nice to know things like the distance to carry the water or the strategically placed traps.
Great course
This place was well worth the money. Definitely a must play when in town!
Best semi-public course in the area.
I play Bayside half a dozen time a year. By far the most challenging and best kept course in the area. Keeps me coming back.
