The Links at Southwind Country Club (previously known as SouthWind Golf Club) is a course that is as scenic as it is challenging. The layout tumbles down across the hillsides of Fairburn, across dramatic elevation changes and through towering, mature pines. Unique rock formations accent the golf course and water hazards come into play on several holes. There are an interesting variety of holes that offer something for every skill level. The challenges of the course come mostly from the constant up-and-down of the rugged terrain. The different slopes of each hole require both accuracy and a good strategy. There are also a number of bunkers to contend with, their placement strategically determined by the elevations changes. One of The Links at Southwind Country Club's most difficult holes is the par-5 10th, which has not one but two large water hazards running along the right side.

Maybe Not
The greens are in great shape, actually the best part of the course. The bigger issue is the fairway, really need a lot work. Very little if any grass mostly hiting off clay, can see this course being one of the best on the soutside but lot of work needed on the fairways.
On the rebound
Good track. Tight and hilly, but fair. Been neglecte, but on the upswing. Greens recently aerated. Grass was long/greens slow. Fairways aren't great, couple are rough. Play "winter rules" until they get fairways back into top shape. Greens should be nice in a few weeks.
Good Course
Course is greening up. Sand traps were being attended to by staff during my round. Greens rolled good. Look forward to playing again.
Decent
Our first time playing Southwind. Just like any course of this caliber, there are positives and negatives.
Positives -
With the exception of one green, the greens are phenomenal. They are extremely fast, and are very challenging. TAP IT IN. Be prepared for tour quality rolls.
Very beautiful course. Some of the shortest par threes and fours I've ever played.
Facilities are amazing. Very well kept. Carts seemed new, and are very fast.
Negatives -
The fairways here are non existent. There is hardly any difference what so ever in fairway and rough. Because of the hilly conditions at this course, there is a LOT of flood water, and with that flood water comes very nasty lies. I'd honestly rather be in the rough here.
No ball washer stations... with a very wet course, ball wash stations are needed.
Yardage markers - Don't trust them. At all. It seems like tee boxes have been moved, so when you see a white that says it's 350, you need to scope it. On the back nine, three holes were at least 70 yards off.
This course is very challenging, and is enjoyable. Many holes offer stunning views. The bunkers are very well maintained and the water hazards seem to come out of nowhere. I do recommend this course, as the price point is reasonable.
Just too early...
This is a great layout and under new management I'm sure the course is going to be awesome in the near future but it's just too early. That being said the greens are just fantastic and the bunkers are too. The problem right now as that the fairways are just too thin and the course is so undulated that you can hit a great shot and it can roll off into a hazard. Overall it's still a great value with pleasant folks, clean carts and a very nice facility. I'll be back in 4-6 weeks! Thanks.
Not Bad
The worst part is the driving range is clubs only. Not bad course over all. Fairly easy if you can hit straight. Water hazards were mostly dried up. Only one golf ball cleaning station near the end and a porta john for the facilities. Staff was really friendly and I would golf here again after getting range time else where first on the same day.
Great course close to the airport
Although its winter and the grass is dormant, the course was in very good shape. The greens are in excellent condition with the exception of holes #3 and #17. For a great deal near the airport this is a great course both for the money and the layout
For the price, the course is fine!!
A couple of greens need some attention. A few places in some fairways need attention however things are getting some work so come spring the course should be in very good shape. Nice employees.
Nice course
Course was in pretty good shape. A couple of the greens were not in good condition but they were still playable. Enjoyed the round.
This course is very Challenging
Great course to play for decent Golfer with Low to medium handicap (10-15 ) or lower.
Must have good iron play to score well.
Your temped to hit a driver on some of the short par 4's but think again. You'll score better if you just hit a long iron. The new owner is very friendly and helpful. It need some TLC but they are working on it. New carts and new sand in all of the traps. Would recommend playing.
Winter Play
Although we played the course under winter conditions, the fairways were very thin in comparison to other area courses. The greens and bunkers were average. The course plays with some difficulty during winter as the fairways are narrow and sloping towards hazards and OB. The course is heavily bunkered which adds to the difficulty factor in winter. Overall, I will wait until spring/summer to play the course again to see if conditions are better.
Great course!
I've played this course two times. After finishing each round, I'm already thinking about the next round here! This course is well laid out, and challenges your ability to shape shots! Solid decisions on clubs selection are required. I believe this is the first time I found myself using every club in my bag! This course gives you a different perspective on course management play! First timers,I recommend buying the caddie book @ the pro shop!
Fun Track
It's a great layout and the new management has been working hard to get the conditions back. Great place to play. Very challenging and fun.
Shot-makers Delight
First time playing this course after reading favorable reviews. Was not disappointed - course greens were in great shape (except #3), and although the fairways were firm and somewhat bumpy, most did have playable lies/grass. Love the course design, with reachable par 5s and driveable par 4s. Fairways are tight for the most part and there are a multitude of blind drives and/or second shots. For those who hit straight consistently you can really score well, especially if you're daring enough to carry the hazards in front of many of the greens. LOVED to elevation changes. Can tell that this will be a gorgeous course once it greens-up in the Spring. Looking forward to playing again now that I have some experience with it.
Great Layout and Character
Fun course to play. Has it's own character through a quiet countryside. Enjoyed conversating with staff. Average course conditions, if they would come around it would be five out of five stars.
Much improved course
This course has improved greatly under new management. The back nine provides a strong test of most golf games. Great round on a Saturday.
Course was in great shape.
The course was fantastic except for maybe two greens. Overall it was very good.
Has potential but needs time
As the other reviews suggest, this course is in the midst of an improvement plan. And while it's not quite there yet, it does seem well on its way to being in better shape. The greens were by and large quite nice, as were tee boxes. Fairways had grass, but that was on top of rock-hard clay with significant contour; this resulted in wild bounces and strange kicks. The course is already challenging (mostly due to narrow fairways) but having what should be a great drive mysteriously bounce from the middle of the fairway into the woods is pretty frustrating. The layout of the course is appealing, with a good variety of holes and some great views. Once the course conditions improve over the coming months, I might consider coming back but the challenge of the course is what is most likely to keep me away.
not for the novice!
Course is rather tough. Great challenge for the single digit handicapper. Lots of carries......need to be a shot maker to score well on most holes. Fairways are thought provoking, thus need to aim your tee shots correctly. Errand shots are lost balls...do not even try to find it..it is lost...gone.
Greens are very nice!
