First time
Staff was very friendly, buddy was running late and they let me wait for him. Good overall course. Pretty easy. Staff also informed me I could save money being militarily to just pay them cause it's on $12 for 9 to walk . I will definitely go back
Great Value.
Course gets better every year. It has an interesting layout with hazards and bunkers strategicly placed. The downside is the sand traps are horrible and no trees.
Glad I had a pass
This was my first time playing Crane Field and I had several people recommend this course with words like "love." I had high hopes, but this course is in terrible condition. From the first tee to the 18th green, I was playing off soggy grass, dry yellow, crispy grass, dirt, or mud. I had tons of poor lies in the middle of fairways. The best lies I had all day were out of the rough, were it was at least green. The bunkers were, in my opinion, nearly unplayable. I would say they were gravel, not sand. Several had rocks the size of golf balls in them. I was worried about my clubs hitting out them. And many greens had large dead (almost rotted?) spots. Impossible to putt over.
I walked this course and was happy to see water on a couple of holes, however I was not happy that there were no benches on tee boxes. I had to wait on a couple tees and would have enjoyed sitting down.
The layout was interesting, especially the back nine. A couple of blind shots and forced carries make the back more fun than the front. I think in few years this course will be very nice (as the trees grow and the course matures).
Improve the course condition and I'll be back. The guy in the pro shop was very nice.
Great Value Golf
I have been playing Crane Field for a three years now and this is the best conditions I have experienced. The overall growth of the course is steadily improving and the quality of the greens and fairways is reaching the same levels as other courses in the area. I am a 4 hdcp golfer and there is truly a challenge for all skill types. The smaller green sizes require accuracy on every approach shot. Playing from the tips the course is about 6300 yds which is about the same as the other courses in the area. If you weigh money spent vs the quality of golf, I think it's easily one of the best courses around.
Today, i played Crane Field Golf Course. It has really turned the corner, and the greens have come along the way. the staff is very friendly, and the maintenance crew has really been working hard to get in to top shape. It is a course that you can go out, and have a fun time. You see a bunch of wild life. Definitely a course to check out.
I have played here off and on over the years. The grass has matured and the course looks really nice. The employees are friendly and helpful. The club house is great.
Fun Convenient Course
I have played Crane Field every year since it opened. I love the layout and I really enjoy the marshland feel the environment provides. Unfortunately, the course has not been in good shape every time I have gone. Fairways are very difficult to spot, bunkers are rock solid, and the grass can get pretty soggy at times. I really enjoy going out there for a round to practice, usually not too much pressure to play fast. Fairways are long and wide, and hazards are fun to play around.
A fun course to play and a very big variety of wild life to see.
We have golfed here ever since is opened 6 years ago. It is fun to play. It has been fun to watch it transform from the beginning. It gets so much nicer each year. Great staff. We play there every week. Totally enjoy it.
Up and coming Course
The course has a few bad spots, but those are mostly out of play and shrinking all the time. The greens are always kept in great shape. While the course is not perfect, a round at Crane Field is worth the time.
Overall, a good course.
The course has nice, tight greens, with thick fringe. Wide open fairways that don't officially share each other, but does have a lot of holes that you can open up with a driver on.
Their scorecards are a bit screwy - from the tips, we played a 404-yard par five and a 405-yard par four. Also, you can definitely tell that they just sort of 'built the course where it lays'. The course is nice, but they didn't transplant other materials in to help promote good fairway growth - they did, though, transplant some materials to help promote good, solid greens.
Crane Field
Good Value, course has some alkali issues, the are working on these. the rest of course is in good shape.
friendly staff.
Peaceful and quick rounds.
The layout of the course is fun will get pretty tough as the plant more trees and tighten the fairway cuts. Yes, the fairways are still filling in, but they are night and day since last season. The rounds are well paced and peaceful. There is usually lot of birds and wildlife around. Greens are great shape and there is a very nice clubhouse and driving range. Love that there is another course west of I-15.
It's a fun 18 hole golf course.. The greens are a challenge..
I thought it was in good shape for only being open for 5 years...Greens were good...Fairways were good, to me its a good golf course for all levels of players..It's very peaceful and relaxing..I will be back...Very Very good staff...
Great course layout and clubhouse.
The layout is interesting and the setting is peaceful. I love having another recreation destination west of the freeway. The driving range and clubhouse are great, the greens are fun, lots of challenging bunkers, and the rounds are fast. (Enjoy that while the it's still not too crowded). yes the fairways are still growing in but they have improved dramatically since last year. And they have lower prices than other courses to compensate.
Worst course in Utah
Not recommended unless you get a DEEPLY discounted price. The front desk girl acted like she wasn't going to let me on because i said my tee time was at 1:06 rather than the correct time of 1:04. Oh and if you book through golf now, prepare to be hated. Because they "hate" golf now.com..... Not really sure why... As for the course, poorly kept up. Greens are like putting in a sand trap and sand traps are like hitting off a cart path. However, if you want easy, go. Not a single par 5 over 400 yards.....
Bad course management
Bad course condition, bad course management.
Play bunch of people together say 7 people at the same time.
Low Stress for beginners
The course is still in its growth cycle and will be for a few more years. It is a good course to take your beginner friends a show them a good time. Overall play was smooth however a few greens need some growth. The fairway is still filling in some areas. It will get better with time. I'm a local and will continue to support this course.
Nice employees
It was an adventure to go that far away from my home to golf, for a new place I have never been.
The greens and the fairways were pretty hammered and it was a very flat course. There was not very many people there so it was very relaxing to golf.
Open course but bad grass
The course is nice and open for new golfers but the bad thing is that the grass is not good at all. on some greens there are some spots that are all sand yes sand traps on the green.
