Off The Beaten Path But Worth It
Make this pretty short and simple, but if you are within a 2 hour drive of the Tucumcari/Logan area, this is definitely worth the drive to play this Nicklaus designed course. It is only 9 holes, but it is a handful for the average golfer for sure. The 2 par 5's, unless you are a bomber, are 3 shot holes to the green. The par 3's are manageable, but #3 is over brush and to the eye, looks like an island green, but there is room around the green for wayward shots to land. During the fall/winter season, it is only open on the weekends and you do need to call to see if they are open.
There are 4 sets of tees and there is another set of tees beyond that for the juniors. The fairways were in excellent shape, the greens rolled true and the traps were plentiful.
We were more than pleased with condition of course, the pace of play, ( 11 total on the course during our round), and the price was reasonable.
Worth the trip...
...if you manage your expectations. The drought has been hard on this property, but it's getting closer to full recovery. It's only 9 holes. No driving range. Limited cart availability and difficult to walk due to the green to tee distances. MANY reseeded areas that are roped off to carts. However, there is plenty of great turf and the tees and greens are great. The greens are HUGE, undulating, fast and in a word - perfect! The Nicklaus design is challenging and the views are nice. I would strongly suggest calling to check conditions, availability & rate specials.
