summit is a gem
The summit is a great golf course within 40 min drive of Minneapolis. The course was in fall shape, where the greens are a little shaggy, fairways were a bit long and bunkers are in rough shape. The staff is always wonderful. course layout is challenging. There is a nice driver range .
Beautiful Course
This course is about a 50 min drive from the twin cities, but it is worth the drive. The course is really two different challenging courses. The front 9 is link styled and the back 9 holes are carved out of a valley. There is a driving range and limited concessions inside the club house. The only negatives are the over grown weeds within the bunkers and the over hanging branches.
Great golf course
Challenging back nine . Worth driving from Minneapolis .
Beautiful views .
Mixed bag at the summit
It was a lovely summer afternoon with a 1 pm tee time. We moved thru the front nine in 90 minutes but caught up to a bunch of slow groups and blind shots on the scenic back nin that took 3 hours to play...greens and fairways in good shape but bunkers were unplayable with grass growing in them.
The Summit Review
I've played The Summit many times. Enjoyable layout, beautiful surroundings. I like the difference between the front 9 and the back 9. Back 9 is much more challenging and you really need to be precise to not send balls off into the woods. Tough to beat a round here for the price. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a challenge without paying 65+ dollars for a round.
Bunkers?
They are letting every bunker grow over. Is this place closing? Greens were pretty good.
Fairways are ok. Tee boxes were full of weeds as was the rough. The fires 13 holes are pretty good. 4 of the last 5 are not very good golf holes. I hadn’t played in about 15 years and I won’t be back. Pro shop attendant didn’t greet us. Just gave us a head bob and apparently that was our cue to speak up?
Golf
Loved the elevated tees on the back nine. A couple of the greens were not fair. Ball rolled back off the green twice. Better placement would be appreciated
Great course .
Really enjoyed the course. A few of the holes were extremely difficult and the greens were VERY fast today.
Not what it use to be
First time I've played this course this year and was extremely disappointed in the condition. The rough look like it hadn't been cut in a week weeds growing in sand traps and hasn't looked like they taking a machine through those this year.. I love the back nine on this course one of my favorite back nines in the South Metro however the four guys in front of us we're so slow they would not let us play through that when I got done with 9 I just packed it up. Extremely disappointed I didn't get to play The Back Nine
Horrible Condition
The course was in terrible shape. Every tee box was trashed. The fairways were covered in dandelions and clover. Even some of the greens had dandelions. The pace of play was also very slow. We had to wait at every single hole. Our 3 some normally takes under 3 hours to play 18. It took us 4 1/2 hours.
Tough Shape
I have played The Summit several times. The course was in tough shape when I played May 9th. Usually the course has been in really good shape. Just disappointed recently.
Good value
Not sure if its the just the course usual twilight rate but the price on golfnow is good value for 18 holes and a cart.
