Course in rough shape
We played today on a golf now deal $21 per person starting @310. Upon arrival to clubhouse we are instructed to have the carts in by 645p when sunset is 715p how are we supposed to finish 18 hole round with a 4 some in 3 1/2 hours? We also had been informed that golf now was not supposed to have tee times available past 2pm. We started on back 9 and very disappointed with conditions of greens and fairways. Very ugly greens, bumpy with brown spots throughout. Defiantly won't be back this season not even worth a $20 round let alone over $55 which is their normal price, ouch! If I read a review like this before today I would have been more inclined to try Val halla in this area. Pro shop very unfriendly and borderline rude mostly because we had a "good deal" online and not paying top dollar for less than desirable conditions.
Worth playing
It's a good course with more than few challenges. Some of the greens are not well kept. Over all a good course for the money. Recommend cart. Second 9 is difficult to walk and more than few challenging shots. Like the layouts of all the houses.
Classic course
Long. Not crowded. Well maintained. Secluded but close to Portland. This course has a lot of elevation change and challenging hazards. The greens were consistent.
Hot Toddy Sunday
Stopped here on way back from golf school Mt Snow Vt while heading home to New Brunswick Busy Saturday, course crowded. Challenging track. our foresome walked and carried and enjoyed the workout. Folks with average to below average fitness levels should consider a cart especially on the hilly back nine.
Terrific choice
Great value, friendly staff, an amazing back 9, and a beautiful 19th hole overlooking 18th green...a gem.
Ten Handicap
The front nine was open and back nine was a shot makers paradise. Greens were in excellent condition, especially since we had heavy rains on the Thursday before.
Primarily A Local Yokels Place
I was looking forward to playing Toddy Brook after getting a great 60% off, $20.rate for 18 with cart, on golfnow.com. When I got to the pro shop, the assistant pro Bradley told me they were not associated with Golfnow any longer. After seeing my confirmation email, he let me go "because its a very quiet afternoon." A sign said ALL PLAY TO START ON THE 10TH TEE TODAY and Bradley confirmed that. I was soon off onto the quiet back 9. The 14th and 15th are two amazing holes. Now TB is a do-it-yourself course built by the owner, and these 2 holes are very creative. They both are 400 yards, and the 14th goes down a vertical drop of about 200 feet. It is fun to watch your drive soar off and fall from the sky. The 15th is the same thing, but going up the hill. It is a bear of a hole to a green chiseled into the cliff. The 18th is a contrived par 3 hole, imitating the island green par 3 at TPC. I just do not like to end a round on this type of gimmick hole with abuts the 19th Hole deck. As I made the turn I saw a lot more golfers. I asked the group that was about to cut in front of me if they saw the sign in the Pro Shop about starting on the 10th. One guy said, "Yeah, but that don't mean nothin'." I got through them but was stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. A twosome with a handicap flag and apparently conducting playing lesson was the main roadblock. It was hard to enjoy this 9. The 4th is a nice par 3 with a pond and good strategic bunkering. The 9th is a very good, 3 shot par 5, that is a fine finishing hole. I left feeling frustrated with my bargain round. Several greens were in rough shape due to the regional winter kill that affected so many courses. There is a lot of crabgrass and weeds in places where grass should be on tees and fairways. I do believe the crew does the best they can given their limited resources. TB is a quaint courses and their loyal regulars must enjoy it. I felt like an unwanted intruder. It is off the beaten trail, but not far away there are better overall courses in Spring Meadows and Val Halla. I would not feel comfortable recommending Toddy at this time.
Back nine is the best part of this course
Course is in great shape. Staff is very friendly. I would recommend this course to everyone.
Wonderful Day
I have played many courses this Summer and Toddy Brook is by far the best conditioned course. Our foursome traveled 130 miles, one direction, to play Toddy Brook, we were not disapointed.
