Great course but not the same without GPS!
Great course! Played Thanksgiving Monday so it took us about 3.5 hours to play. Not the same now that there is no GPS on the carts. Sandtraps were terrible, they were like clay.
Cream of the crop for golf courses in the West Ottawa Area.
Very challenging course. Long yardage and many hazards make for a very humbling but enjoyable golf experience. This is one serious golf course. Extremely scenic. The holes meander amongst marshes, ponds and modern buildings that make up a high-tech research park.
Scenery and conditions pristine!
Expensive course but golfnow makes it affordable. At full price it seems justified. Nice holes great staff great conditions. Extra balls are a must as they don't call it the marshes for nothing!
Maybe one of the best courses in their region
Every hole comes with a view. Every fairway is pristine.
Every green is fast, challenging and true.
Every hazard and bunker is a challenge.
Planning and strategy is a requirement on this course.
A true pleasure to play.
One of Ottawa's Premier courses.
Tough as nails, lots of trouble to get into and its long. My only complaint is that the greens were not up to par ( pardon the pun) I watched my ball hop all the way to the cup.
Good Challenge
The Marshes, in my opinion, provides a good challenge to all levels of golfers. The greens were generally quick, one or 2 exceptions but still fast just not consistent with the other greens.
I was dissappointed
I was dissappointed in the the overall shape and upkeep of the course. The greens were some of the worst I have played on all year. The staff was very friendly and helpfull.
The greens were damaged which made it difficult for putti
We were not aware of the damaged greens until we showed up at the course. As one of the higher priced courses I was disappointed since I had a guest from out of town. The cost was definitely not worth it as there are better conditioned courses for less in Ottawa.
Not impressed
Apparently there's no need to tell you they've aerated the greens and the course is playing about as poorly as possible. Greens were clearly not punched and after a week having been aerated, I've never seen greens as poor.
Staff were friendly and helpful. Practice area was fully open, but there are issues.
Honestly, for full price this is not a deal. Even at a cut rate, I've played municipal courses that were more enjoyable.
Good value
Staff was friendly. Got a great discount through GolfNow so it was good value for money. The greens left a lot to be desired as they appeared to be recently aerated.
Definitely worth playing at GolfNow price - over-priced at 120.00 dollars/round though...
real tough course - wind was strong - great challenge from Blue or Gold tees -
course was in very good shape; greens very good; fairways very good; tee boxes - ok;
bunker sand is heavy and could use an alternative
enjoy,
No Marshall's . Terribly slow.
Stuck behind foursome with no clue of course etiquette, especially pace of play. Called course to complain. No offer to compensate for wasted day. Too much money to play and not enjoy yourself.
Stay on the short stuff!
Challenging layout,on well maintained fairways. Be sure to keep your ball on the short stuff as the rough is very!
Tough but fun to play
Course is very long with 3 par 5 per nine holes. However with lots of tee boxes to choose from, you can tailor the difficulty to match you skill level. The course was in bad shape in May but the greens, which had a lot of winter damage are in much better shape now. There is a lot of water and nature preserve areas so bring lots of golf balls... :)
NOTE: although the GolfNow site promises a GPS with the carts they are not available. There are also very few distance markers on any of the holes. It is also very expensive for the quality of the course.
Great course but how about some yardage markers!
Really liked this course and it was a good test of golf. The greens were fast and undulating and the fairways were in nice shape. My only beef was that with no yardage markers you were not sure where to play to on some holes. At least a 150 yard marker would have helped as this was the first time I played here. Great value with a hot deal but wouldn't want to pay the full price.
Great Course
Very good condition. Some problems with all the geese on the course, droppings, etc.
Pace of play excellent
Course conditions and pace of play were excellent, value for the hot deal
Course distances are wonderful. Enjoyed the challange
Course is not for a recreational golfer. Holes are not numbered. No fairway layout at the tee. Card only keeps score and has no course layout. Alot of below average golfers slowing play looking balls. Could not finish due slow play. Had to ask Marshall for course layout to show hazards. Compared to a few years ago it has declined
Great Course - Always enjoy the round here!
The course is beautiful and the staff are lovely. The greens are not in the best shape, but I know they had quite a bad year last year with them. They seem to be recovering but are still rough. The course is challenging in areas but overall a ton of fun. Beautiful club house with all the amenities!
The Marshes - Not up to Snuff
I'd heard good things in the past about the course but
was very disappointed in the conditions of the greens.
Some TLC is required here.
With the move away from the GPS system a course booklet would be appreciated as a number of shots found unplayable areas which could have been avoided with some caddie aid.
will try it again
