The Club At Viniterra
About
Situated between Richmond and Williamsburg, the Club at Viniterra sprawls across abundantly wooded hills. There is no shortage of elevation changes on this Rees Jones and Greg Muirhead-designed golf course. There is a difference of as much as 70 feet from the tee to the green on most of the holes. When combined with the mature trees, the result is a tough layout that demands accuracy. Thankfully though, there are not many water hazards to contend with but there is strategically placed bunkering throughout. The golf course also provides a scenic round with working vineyards running alongside the lush fairways. In addition to being challenging, the Club at Viniterra prides itself on their environmentally sensitive practices. The golf course saves as much as 80 percent of the water used on traditional courses thanks to the use of a drought-resistant grass hybrid.

Long and hilly
Very challenging course.
The course is very well maintained and challenging.
The staff is extremely friendly.
ok, but
Course was nice, reasonable condition. Pace of play was a problem, we quit after 15 holes at 4 3/4 hrs. There was no ranger to move people along.
Great greens
This course is LONG!!! If you enjoy 480 yard par 4's this is for you. I normally play the tips and average 280 off the tee. No way I could play the tips. I started playing 1 up from the tips and still had 200 for my 2nd shot. Great course layout, great greens, nice club house, average driving range, I didnt eat there, never saw a beverage cart, staff was nice
Beautifully Kept/Friendly Folks
We were a group of 8 traveling down from Pennsylvania, staying in Williamsburg, Va. The RATE we paid wasWEEKDAY SENIOR RATES. I love including The Club at Vinterra in our go to places to play. Charley Burch and his staff are most friendly and accommodating. The course always seems to be in the greatest shape and it is a little scenic. The cart paths are quite the trip somtimes between holes giving you a look at the woods and the surrounding community, which includes a vineyard (Viniterra; get it).
You can make it as challenging as your talents permit or a bit easier depending upon tee box selection.
It is a rolling course on many holes, which add to the beauty of it. Unfortunately, for geezers like us, if you play on a day where it's CART PATH ONLY, Viniterra will kick you butt, if you don't play "Cart Golf".
Facilities off the course here are excellent. Complimentary bottled water outside the clubhouse before starting your round is most appreciated.
Will look forward to returning next year, Lord willing.
Good layout
I loved the layout, well designed and challenging. Turf conditions were not that good. Fairways and tees looked like they were still in winter condition. Greens we’re starting to come around.
For long hitters only
This was an excellent course and a lot of fun to play. The staff was very friendly and the course is kept in great condition. Just a friendly warning -- it is very long! I played the white tees and was using driver on every hole and still having trouble reaching the greens in regulation. I suppose I could have played from gold, but that would have been a lot shorter. I would also not recommend walking it as it is a long way from green to the subsequent tee. There are also lots of places where if your ball is even slightly off the fairway it is lost forever. That said, it is a great course and I would love to play it again!
Very Nice Course
This course is a most play if in the area,
The layout is awesome and in good condition for the time of year I played
The only thing I would say is pick the right Tees for how long you hit the ball, it can be a very long course if you go off the wrong Tees like I did
course codition
For this time of the year, this course is ahead of most other courses in the area playing condition wise.
I come from Canada and this course is one of my favorites.
Almost a Summer Day at Vineterra!
Real nice golf course. Very spacious. Lots of bunkers and par 3’s were very challenging. Highly recommend!
Interesting
Certainly enjoyed the course. Great pairing with golfers from KC.
Would like to play it with less wind and better course conditions.
Would play again.
Exceptional Service
First round of our weeklong golf trip. The service, from checking to starter to Marshall was first rate. It’s a fun, challenging course that we certainly plan to play again. Especially Kenny G, who tamed the course with a 5 birdie performance.
Two Thumbs Up
Played this course for the first time a couple months ago. I came back and will continue to do so. Nice layout, good shape, good value and a nice staff. Pace of play was a lil slow this time but that's because it was a beautiful day and lots of people wanted to play.
Best course around!
Viniterra is a one of a kind gem. not just by its amazing lay out or beautiful scenery, or the wildlife that roams the course or the well kept greens and bunkers as well as perfect fairways. Charlie and Andrew really make this place. Couldn't ask for two better people to be In a pro shop. Andrew's coaching has been great I've dropped several strokes off my game by having him give me lessons. They appericate people and are always polite professional and well dressed. I really enjoy charlie and Andrew as much as I love the course. Vinitrera will always be my home. I highly recommend playing this course it will not disappoint. The matiance crew I must give love to as well as they are the back bone of the course also. They do a stunning job at maintaing the course always improving never letting the course slip away from them. Even in winter months they are preserving the course to have a full spring and great summer big shout out to everyone on matiance they are the best out their.
March Madness Review
Course was in great condition for March. Pace of play was good for a weekend. Staff was friendly from the starter, to the pro shop to the ladies at the grill. I will be back.
March Madness Round
Course was in great condition for the off season. Pace of play was decent for a weekend. Staff was awesome, from the starter to the pro shop, to the ladies at the grill. Will be playing there again.
Challenging but fun
First time playing the course. The course was in pretty good shape. Some of the greens had been lightly aerated. The Bermuda grass was still brown yet. Played from the white tees (6279). It was fun, but one of the most difficult courses I have played. If sand is not your friend you will find this course tough. The greens rolled good, but they had all kinds of undulations. Would definitely play this again.
Excellent Course and Staff
If you are anywhere near this area, do yourself a favor and hit this course! Layout, conditions, and staff are excellent.
