Great Value in Small Town America
This is a great gem in small town America.... Conditions are typically pretty good and a fun layout. I have played this course 2-3 times and would definitely come back. It is a fantastic value at the $35 I believe I paid.
Great course
What a great track in the middle of Arkansas! Absolutely loved this course. Greens rolled true and conditioning was great. We played it two days in a row and it did not disappoint. Highly recommended and fun for all golfers. Excellent design that fits the eye with lots of variety and fun challenges.
Well Worth the Drive
I am from New Mexico and was visiting Arkansas at the invitation of some friends. One of the courses that they said we had to play was Coopers Hawk. So we drove the hour and a half from Jonesboro to Melbourne to play the course. When we arrived the staff was very friendly and the PGA Pro, Nathan, was excellent. He gave me some advice on playing at about a tenth of the altitude that I was used to playing and even managed to play a few holes with us to give me some advice about the course.
The course was in wonderful shape and both the fairways and greens were beautifully manicured. The course pays a premium for well placed tee shots and is challenging yet fair for both men and women alike. I thoroughly enjoyed my round and even had an enjoyable time after my round.
The small restaurant attached to the pro shop is one of the best places I've eaten at a golf course in quite a while. Even the locals who do not golf will come for lunch or dinner.
Overall I would recommend Coopers Hawk as a destination.
Going downhill
I've played here several times over the past 10 years, and the course conditions are now going down. Just a basic lack of attention to upkeep. Greens used to be well known as great, now not even average. Needs mowing and upkeep. It needs to get improved for me to return.
