Not again
First 6 holes tough need to play with someone who has played the course before
Good course - sneak in drinks
Temperature around 90 with no beverage cart or opportunity to otherwise buy beverages on the course. Limited water coolers available.
Great course and great staff
I accidentally booked our round for the the before our threesome could play. They honored the round for the same price on the day we needed. There are a lot of courses that would have told us we were out of luck. This is a well kept up course with beautiful facilities. With 36 holes, it gives you plenty of variety. Go Play!
day on the course
had a great time playing course was in good shape very challenging on the river course.still had a great time.
Great layout, worth going out if way
I was traveling cross country and stopped to go shopping, just looked on golf now and found this course, what a great deal. Everything was 5 star!!!!!played by myself behind a threesomes and got to hit several balls and work on my game and still played under 4 hours..will play here next year when I come back to this area.
Great Resort Course in the Mountains
I really enjoy playing here. Locals gets a discounted tee time and that really brings the value factor up. There is only one other course in the area I prefer to play but I enjoy mixing rounds here.
The course is always in great shape from the tee boxes, fairways, rough and the greens. The greens see a lot of play and since it is basically a resort course you will run into pitch marks that folks were too lazy to fix. However, the staff still manages to make them roll great.
Speaking of staff, over the years they have gotten rid of the bad apples and just about everyone I have met here is very friendly.
The practice facility is great, with bunker shots being about the only thing you can't work on. Speaking of facilities, the clubhouse is very nice and there is plenty of room in the pavilion to host any event you desire. I have played a couple tournaments here and the course knows how to host an event!
As far as the courses. The River Course is my favorite but unfortunately the members take up all the early tee times so it is really hard to get a tee time before 8am during peak time. The River Course plays long and you have to be accurate. The layout is great and the views are wonderful. The Highlands Course can sometimes feel like the neglected child but it is also a very nice course. It is just a par 70 with a ton of par 3's (you finish on a par 3 as well) but it is a challenging course with some great holes as well.
You can't go wrong with either course IMO. Heck, make a day of it and play 36. This is certainly a great place to do it.
Fairway resod and traps
A few fairways had places that been re-sodded and were not mowed. They did not use a sod cutter to remove the old dead areas and just re-sodded on top of the ground, which made these areas unplayable if you hit into them. The quality of the sand in the traps was very soft and fluffy, did not pack well and it is doubtful that it was angular sand; making a normal sand shot much more difficult, particularly in the margins of the trap where there was way too much sand.
Nice long play
First course I have played that had club cleaners and ball washers in the cart. That is 5 star.
Great course for the money even without the great Gilfnow discount.
Also great driving range. We will play here again!!
Happy Golfer
Excellent facility. ...If staying at Wyndham you will love it. This course was recommended to me by a staff person at Wyndham. Two 18 hole courses with River course being the more difficult.
Great time
The course was as good as advertised. With the many tee boxes you could choose one that fit your over all game.
nice course and staff
We were greeted by a very nice and professional team in the pro shop and the hospitality continued on the course throughout the day. The course had a few spots from what I am assuming was hard rain from weeks before but overall nice and maintained course.
Excellent Facilities
Spent about a half hour on practice putting green (huge and in superior condition) before teeing off at appointed time. Course is well marked and easy to stay on pace. Maintenance staff was working on couple of holes that had some winter extreme cold damage to fairways, but they moved out of the way as we approached the tee. Staff member Billy Hodges was very helpful after our round. Our group had hot dogs with the trimmings and drinks, very tasty and fairly priced. We will return.
great layout
The staff was friendly and the course was in great shape. I would definitely play here again if visiting Tennessee and will highly recommend it.
Course was emaculate!!
I am from Charleston, SC and we have some of the best public golf courses on the East coast. I played on a golf team in High School and then was lucky enough to play in College as well, and the Highlands course is one of the BEST deals for your money you will ever come across. I'm still about a 5 handicap, and I was overly amazed about how the overall condition of the course was for the money, the greens were nothing less than perfect (running about a 10-10.5), the fairways and teebox's were perfect, the course left beautiful views throughout the round. The Highlands course was short, but the par 3's were all between 175-225 yards which made up for the easier holes, the course demands you hit the ball in the right areas, but in Charleston this course would cost you around or over $100 and the Kiawah Courses are the only public courses down there that can touch the condition to compare. OUTSTANDING course, wish I could play again while on vacation!!
Good for value
Booked through golfnow.com while vacationing in Pigeon Forge. Excellent course for price. Would strongly recommend purchasing yardage book if haven't played before since lots of blind tee shots. Foursome in front of us would not let us play through. No drinks on course. Would definitely play again.
Could play a US open here
Course in great shape ,very difficult from back tees chose your tees by driving distance .Younger staff members not very friendly older ones were great .good experience overall
Great Golf
I had previous played the Highland course a couple of days before and I found the River course to be more challenging. All in all, it was still a wonderful experience. The greens rolled true and the fairways had the ball sitting up. It pays to have played this course before and become familiar with layout and hazards.
Best
This is the best course in east Tennessee The highlands course is also excellent. It would be hard to find a golf package with better courses within 150 miles.
I drive an extra twenty minutes just to play this course.
SD
Great place to play golf
Loved the layout of the course and the condition it was in. Will play again next time Im in town.
One of the better ones around
The course was in great shape, greens were rolling great! A few newly sodded tees and small patches around a couple of greens but really didn't effect play. Becoming one of my favorite course in the area, rewards you if you hit the ball well but can tear you up with miss hits.
