Opened in 2011, Wildstone Golf Course may be young but it is quickly gaining a reputation as a must-play. Surrounded by the Canadian Rockies, the course offers spectacular views and dramatic elevation changes throughout. Fisher Peak towers over the golf course, providing beautiful views that are almost too distracting. The incredible landscape provided by the rolling highlands of Cranbrook is just one feature that sets Wildstone apart from other courses in the area. Despite the undulations, the golf course is surprisingly walkable without being a pushover. From the championship tees, the layout plays to a lengthy 7,100 yards and provides a formidable test for even the most seasoned golfers. The forward tees are still approachable for beginners though. There are also extensive practice facilities available at Wildstone Golf Course including a large putting green, a chipping green, and an expansive driving range.

Fun course and good value

This is a great course! Lots of variety, great views and amazing conditions. It's a fairly easy course from tee to green for the first 13 holes, then you gotta hold on for dear life coming home. The greens are huge and have lots of undulation, so be prepared to get creative with your short game. The Cranbrook/Kimberley area has some great golf, and I think this course is the pick of the litter.

UNBEATABLE CONDITIONS!

I had heard some really good things about Wildstone and I’ve been wanting to play it for quite some time........it definitely did not disappoint!

The overall condition of the course was absolutely mint! The only minor negative issue was that some tee boxes were very spongy........But other than that, this is a top-notch course from tee to green. The site lines from the tee boxes were fantastic and most fairways were tree lined with very well-kept bunkers. The majority of the holes required attention to shot shape and the greens were very undulating and rolled unbelievably true.

I have yet to play the other high-end courses in the area but Wildstone is going to be tough to beat from a course perspective..... as for the facilities.......they were a little disappointing.......but I never care too much about the facilities of the golf course, I’m more concerned with the course itself. It’s very strange that after 10 years of being open they still don’t have a paved entranceway and a clubhouse?? But minor details to someone like myself.

I will definitely be back!

Challenging Course

Very nicely looked after course. It was during the week of the extreme heat wave in B.C.where temps were 40 c plus or 104 f or greater. The fairways are fairly wide, some holes challenging with protected bunkers and water. I found the 1st cut very challenging if you got into it. The ball sinks into the grass and when you try to hit it out it is very grabby. The greens are also very challenging as the undulations in the green made it really difficult to read the greens and the greens were quite fast. Perhaps it was the extreme heat that made it more difficult to play because of fatigue or heat exhaustion but such hot weather is not typical for the Province of B.C. Trees line the fairways so keeping the ball in the fairway is essential . I think if it was cooler weather it would have been a better round for our group as everyone was feeling the heat at the end of the round.

Great Course

We had great weather which made for a perfect day for golf. This is very well laid out course with some great views along with elevation changes. There is some long par fours as well as a short one. Greens, bunkers and fairways were in great condition. You can always see where you should be hitting. I would rate it as one of the best courses in the valley and reasonable.
The only hole that does not belong is 17 which falls off on all sides and makes it very difficult as most golfers will be coming in from 160+ yards.

Wildstone GC

There was a 1.5 hour frost delay on the morning of play.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a course which is surrounded by mountain scenery and only two weeks into the golf season, it was actually in pretty good playing condition. Stately pine trees line most of the fairways, giving the impression that the course is more mature than it is.

The rolling fairways are wide and plush, the rough very forgiving, the greens enormous and players should note that more than a few have significant slopes on them. Very pleased that they were rolling exceptionally well. If you love bunkers, there are plenty of very good bunkers on this course. The par 3, 12th is the only hole where water could come into play.

The course seemed to be playing long for some reason as I found myself coming up one club short on many approach shots. Played with two members, Doug and Don who were great company. Holes 4 and 5 stand out.

Overrated but still good

When playing a Scoregolf top 59 course you usually can’t go wrong. Wildstone is #29 and is a great track. However neighboring Shadow Mountain #42 is a far superior course. The design is better, the conditioning was slightly better while we were there, and the views are not comparable. But like I said Wildstone is still a great track, but if you only have one day in Cranbrook play Shadow Mountain hands down!

Nice course, great conditions

Played Wildstone on our Kootenay golf trip. Best
greens we putted on. Tee to green not overly difficult.
But, watch out for the greens! Far too many 'buried
animals' and undulations on some of the greens.
The average golfer is going to not only 3 putt, but
4 putt some of these greens :-( ! Mr. Player, or who
ever did these greens got a little carried away. I
would still play the course again, and recommend
playing it, but be prepared to struggle putting
these greens. Great Practice area as well!

Great course, excellent value on golfnow, slow play behind tournament

Love this course, great condition, and can't beat getting the good price on GolfNow. Unfortunately, we caught up to a ladies tournament and the gals were in no particular hurry. Turned out to be a little over 5 hour round, longer than we expected. Need more choices for staff rating, I would have rated it ok, neither poor nor wonderful, but selected super friendly rather than dismissive as no other choices were available.

Take a walk on the Wild side!

In good condition for first full year of operation. Can make it as difficult as you please depending on tee box selection. And compared with other courses in area, value is excellent.
