GlenRiddle Golf Club - Man O' War Course
About
GlenRiddle Golf Club is home to two championship courses that offer completely distinct golfing experiences. The Man O' War Course is situated on the western portion of the club, sweeping across a sand dune-covered landscape that is perfect for a round of Scottish links-style golf. The large greens, double fairways, and deep pot bunkers will make you feel as though you've been transported to the British Isles. The ever-present winds blowing in from the eastern shore further adds to its authenticity. On the site of the golf course there is an old racetrack that was used to train champion thoroughbreds, part of the track is now used as a strategic cross-hazard that comes into play on three holes. The golf course begins gently with a front nine that is wide-open but becomes progressively more challenging, primarily with the presence of water hazards.

Lots of History
This course was very interesting and had all the horse racing history scattered throughout which was a fun addition to the course. I played as a single on the front nine and then joined a group of 2 for the back 9 as we caught up with the groups ahead of us. The only knock on the course was that it was dried out and they tried to cover up the browning grass and green fringes with spray paint which I thought was weird but didn't affect the course overall. I liked it and the clubhouse and practice facilities were great as well. Definitely coming back the next time I'm in the area if I can.
Great course with challenging layout.
Fantastic facility which I try to visit each time I am in ocean city area. Friendly staff. Course in great condition. Plenty challenging and fun. Windy day made it more difficult. I would give this course and other course at Glen Riddle a must play.
Wonderful experience, beautiful course, great service
We really enjoyed our visit to Glen Riddle Man of War. It was a beautiful course, great layout and fairly challenging. Played the Blue tees and thought the distance was just right for the average player. Or challenge yourself on the Black tees and have professional grade experience. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly and helped make the overall experience special.
Wow!!!
The course was great, with the exception of the 1st green, all the greens were great. Fairways perfect, rough playable, sand traps great shape!!! The staff picked up my clubs, sent me to practice range, and putting green, the came to get me when it was my turn to tee off. GPS was accurate and very helpful, great experience , thanks for a great day!!!
Difficult to play first time
Difficult to know where to aim . GPS is not detailed enough.
Lots of hazards in the middle of the fairways.
Large greens that you may have to chip on if you are on the wrong side
Definitely would help to play it with someone who
knows the course.
Great layout
Def. recommend to all levels of players, tons of birdie opps but also tough if you don't keep it in the fairway
Great track!
We played twilight golf, great value. The staff did a good job of filling us in on the history of the course. (Man O War trained here)
The course was in great shape. .
Definite winner when in OC.
Great course and very friendly staff!
Definitely would go back again - treated well and good value.
This is a fair golf course that is fun to play.
The course requires some attention to get it up to the conditions normally seen at Glen Riddle. The rough is poorly maintained. Fairways and greens were in need of mowing which is not expected on a summer Sunday afternooon round here in OC. Speed of play is often a problem on the finishing holes, especially 16,17, and 18. This can leave a poor impression after an otherwise fun round. GR is still a very nice value for the money and deserves serious players attention.
not bad, but not on par with other local courses
Course had a challenging lay out, but still enjoyable. Course seemed to need some waterimg and a little TLC but not in bad condition.
Nice course, good condition
Overall a nice layout, generally the course was in good condition...some bare spots in fairways as Bermuda grass hasn't completely filled in yet. Greens nice, a bump here and there but fairly true...wasn't fast, average speed. Glad I got a GolfNow deal, I don't think the rack rate for a round is worth it.
COULD HAVE ENJOYED MORE,BUT....
Very slow play. Not well marshalled for speed of play.
EARLY IN SEASON SO BERMUDA NOT IN AND COURSE OUTSIDE OF FAIRWAYS AND GREENS LOOKED PRETTY ROUGH.
GREEN HAD BEEN PUNCHED 2-3 WEEKS AND STILL SHOWED .WE DID NOT GET ANY ADVICE FROM GOLF NOW THAT GREENS MIGHT BE AN ISSUE.
Scotland in MD
Very different course as close as I have seen to when I played in Scotland Link courses. Lucky for me the grass wasn't high yet being this early in the season but was in good shape.
Nice linkstyle course
It was cold and windy but we enjoyed the course. The greens are bumpy but fair. The staff is very freindly. We appreciated that they gave us a cart with a shell to protect us against the wind and cold.
Overall great experience.
Fairways were brown at this time of year, but were in great condition. Holes were were challenging and each one gave you a different look. Enjoyed the round thoroughly.
always challenging. Very good shape for the winter.
glad to see that glen riddle has overseeded the fairways , greens and tee boxes this year. Love playing golf with the green of the fairway and the dormant bermuda rough. Course reminds me of courses in europe. deep bunkers grass filled mogels and blind tee shots. Keep up the good work.
Great Course with interesting features
The course is very interesting. The holes are challenging but fair. Course knowledge would have made a difference in my score. The greens were in really good shape for being January. Cant wait to get down and play it again.
LINKS at its best!
This was my first round on a true links style course. It is very cool how they designed this course around the stables and old horse farm. They really stayed true to the history of the property.
Has potential...
My experience here wasn't that great. I paid only $25 so I wasn't as upset but I will say if I paid full price I would have been a little mad. The fairways weren't that great, you had no idea where you were hitting to on over half the holes even with GPS help. It wasn't the best layout either. Pace of play wasn't an issue. Pro shop personnel seemed agitated that I showed up an hour early of my time to practice.
If you're in OC, try Eagles Landing (muni) instead of this. That was a great course!
