Eagle Trace Golf Club
About
The course at Eagle Trace Golf Club is one of several in Colorado that were designed by architect Richard Phelps. Views of the Rockies and splendid Cottonwoods sprinkled across the course make it an enjoyable game. Five lakes and over sixty bunkers add some challenging elements to the course. Located in Broomfield, the golf course is 6,529 yards from its longest tees, playing to a par of 72. Eagle Trace Golf Club also offers teeboxes specifically made for children. They also have a junior golf program for kids under 10.

Greens are good but poor condition in general
The greens are good but this course is below average at best. Goose droppings all over, tee boxes shredded up, and blind shots make this former Broomfield Country Club not so good. I would NOT play it again
It was fun
Honestly the rate of play was slow in part because of morning weather, the parking lot is in disrepair and sets a bad first impression. They are still using gas carts which are loud and distracting. The course which is why were all there was in great shape and plays well.
Not Long, But a Classic Layout
From the tips it measures around 6600 yards which isn't long. The par 5's are short and easily make-able in 2 with good shots.
The beauty of Eagle Trace isn't the length or the difficulty, but the layout which demands course management. So, it won't easily get boring. Bunkers are placed so if you hit it off line, you might be short sided to the green.
I ask you to play a round and see if you can shoot low. Eagle Trace will probably reply with 5 shots more than you though.
You see, I learned how to play golf on this course over 10 years ago. Since I haven't played there in almost the same number of years, I went back with a friend to not quite form our original Golf Trio. We played almost every Friday when Spring rolled around. It was Friday's off and a quick escape from UofColo.
Since playing golf for over 10years now, I thought I revisit Eagle Trace and figure out how I would play. I was shocked even though my ball striking and short game has gotten so much better, Eagle Trace was still challenging. I had a triple boggy on Hole 12 trying to carry the creek which I have thought about now and than over the years. I suppose I played it better in my mind.
The tee boxes on 13 have been pushed back, while the par 14 5th hole still has a challenge on the green.
The greens while not easy, run fairly true, but by no means fast.
The course condition was good, but the tee boxes were not even cut so having large tees is a must. Fairways were in 6.5/10. Overall, the course is pretty much the same over the years.
The front nine is much more open and I would recommend this for a novice golfer. Less confusion of water and hazards come into play, but my driver found water somehow. My golfing buddy, had one of the closest shots into a Par 5 with his second shot only 10 feet away. He didn't make his eagle putt because of the 10 inches of break, but it was memorable non the less.
Great memories of Eagle Trace. I think I'll go back and see how it plays again.
great course
I recommend Eagle trace golf course to all golfers. The course is in great conditions and the scenery is nice as well. The holes are well planned and varied, but fair and the greens are impeccable. I even saw a large coyote, and other wildlife during my round of golf. It's convenient for Broomfield or Westminster residents. Enjoy!
much inproved
considering what this course was 5 or 6 years ago.. it is in great shape!! The rough grass is too long,, and some of the tee boxes are hard to find for a first time player of the course... needs more signs and distance markers on the course... all around,, good course...
More challenging than you might think
I personally think the reviewers are a little hard on this course. I saw it had a three star rating I was expecting a dump. This was not. It is obviously a little older than some of the metro courses, but found it to be a good course. Would enjoy playing it again. On etching I didn't care for was the guy spraying weed killer or fertilizer while we were playing. Didn't need to breathe that stuff!
Old woman behind the bar (Evelyn)
Extremely disrespectful. Just say at a table speaking with friends while we waited for Service. Then had to wait a second time while we watched her sitting on the patio smoking, then come in many minutes later to serve us without even a slight thought to wash her hands first.
Good deal.
The greens are excellent, There was maybe one spotty faiway. The overall condition of the course is really good. It's a simple course, not very long with reachable par 4's and 5's. I didn't eat anything there, but I did purchase a few beers from the beverage cart. Beer was cold, and the service was great, saw her multiple times. The only thing that must be addressed is the driving range. I get having not having the space for a proper range, but the mats are beyond terrible.
Eagle trace - amazing greens
Place was rock solid for the money.
Not super long but still a decent challenge. Greens were absolutely fantastic.
Eagle Trace Nice Intermediate Course
Tucked back in to a nice residential neighborhood, this course is secluded and friendly. Houses up and down many of the fairways. Streets also run along a couple of fairways, so it is a little intimidating for some golfers. Otherwise, beautiful course and fun to play.
The Course
The course is in excellent shape. The greens are in the best shape in years and make for challenging but fair putting. . Some Par 4s are long even from the front. Not crowded. This is not Augusta but if you want a fun round go for it.
6-hour round!
We started at 2 pm on Sunday. There was a wait for carts so we walked. First 9 took 3 hours, long waits most holes. We played hole 10 but saw that it was still backed up all the way. So we left!
Great GolfNow deal!
Course was in the best early season condition that I've seen it in for years. Greens were smooth and true and showed no signs of plugging and sanding. Greens are firm and showed little to no signs of unrepaired ball marks. Bunkers had somewhat sparse sand. With perfect weather what's not to like, although I played poorly.
In great condition
The course was in great condition. My buddy and I were the third group out. By the 5 hole we played through the foursomes in front of us and had the entire course to ourselves, 18 holes 3 1/2 hours. $45 was not a bad deal. Who ever was in charge of the pin placement seemed to have some pent up anger as they were very challenging on many of the holes, like a couple of feet off the fringe.
Tee times
We golfed the back 9 twice bcuz the first tee box had a 45min back up. They need to do a better job scheduling tee times.
Milk
Great course for the money, challenging, good hole layout, and hardly ever backed up. The staff is very good food prices and drinks are average overall though I like this course as well as homestead.
nice neighborhood course
The layout is very nice and conditions were good. Lots of bunkers with very coarse and sparse sand but hey, your supposed to stay out of em.
Cart Path Only???
Receptionist, in kitchen, whom had not been on the course said it was "cart path" only due to wet conditions. The course was very dry and not moist at all. We even approached the 'receptionist at the turn to advise of the conditions; she was very rude and non-compliant, stated "CART PATH" only. Our group consisted of 4 senior citizens, two of whom are 100% disabled, still no considerations in this matter. Would not ever play here again or recommend course to anyone, not even my enemies!!
