Stay on target
This is a fun course with some challenging, unusual holes. Everything is set up off the drive on this course. You slice it and you could be in the water.
Number seven is a completely blind tee shot over the trees. You better hit a draw or your ball is over the fairway and down on a steep hill. Number 18 is a great finishing hole. You need an accurate tee shot and then a mid ironinto the green that’s surrounded by water.
Could be great but...
the fairways are all pretty much dead and if you miss it, you will be hitting off hardpan (assuming it doesn't fall into a giant crack). I love a challenging course and this one is pretty tight with narrow fairways and small greens but they have a bunch of unnecessary bunkers that often times are positioned right int the middle of the fairway. And these bunkers are huge with hardly any rakes to be found so you will likely find yourself in a footprint. The staff is super friendly and the cart girl extremely nice but for $60, there are tons of other courses in better shape at cheaper prices.
Great day on the course
Course was in very good shape. The 4th hole fairway not so much. Some of the tee boxes were hard. Not enough to complain about it. I know the erosion from the Trinity River has caused some changes on the back nine but they are doing a good job with that. I do wish at some point they build a restroom out on the course. The porta potty isn't a good look. I hope to play there again, soon.
A bit run down
Came back to this course for the first time in many years. They didn’t have enough carts so couldn’t get one until right at tee off time. The practice chipping green has terrible grass outside of the green area. Several holes were altered and cart paths blocked. It was super hot and no beverage cart on the course, and upon turning in the cart at the end of the round, just before dusk, the staff had already closed shop preventing a bathroom stop before going home. There are some fun and challenging holes, but there are better places to play at similar price points.
Great course, difficult for amateur
This was a nice course. Great price. Course was difficult for me. Green was freshly aerated so that wasn’t great. Overall, enjoyed it
Greens just punched
Great course but did not know greens were punched earlier in the week. As a result, greens were in bad shape. When repaired, this is a great course for the money
Riverside
Staff was very friendly pace was great greens are airatied
Not a bad round for he $$$
Immaculate conditions
This course is one of the best I've played in Tarrant County. Easily one of the most difficult. And also the most well manicured. The greens were spotless and the fairways were lush. Given the heat, I was surprised at the playing conditions and green quality hole to hole. There are one or two holes that are under renovation, but that didn't detract from the playing experience. Practice area was nice enough and the putting green matched the course - which is something you generally do not see.
This course has a great test of golf but fun.
Love the course. First time playing it. I would recommend this course solely because of the value. Greens were rolling true. Fairways were in great shape. Pace of play was great. The only thing I could say was the bunkers needs some maintenance, playable I might add but needs some love.. Will put this on the return to list.
Terrific layout
Very challenging but fair golf course. The greens, tee boxes and fairways tin excellent condition.
Riverside Golf
Love the Course, pace of play was good, with the temp near 100 they have to have cold water for golfers.. all the time.. thanks
Good course for value
Fair ways were in good condition and greens were rolling good
Great layout
Bunkers are in bad shape.
Greens are in good shape.
Great time. I’ll be back.
Tried something new
I used to play Riverside a lot, years ago. I decided to make the trip down on Sunday. Got paired up with 3 other guys so we had a good time.
We were 2nd off, so pace was great. Greens were pretty good if a bit slow. Lots of grass in fairways to hit off of. Bunkers were a little spotty - did not look like they were raked or maintained overnight. The greens have gotten noticeably smaller thru the years - probably a maintenance budget issue. Most were about 2/3 or less the size they used to be. Lots of chipping from 20 feet. This course has lost portions of several holes to Trinity River flooding, A few result in tee shots that need to be hit at other tee boxes or fairways. A few cart paths disappeared into the river as well. Still a decent golf course, but 3-4 holes that make you scratch your head.
Staff - we were the 2nd group off but were asked to increase our pace on the 7th tee (On pace for under 4 hours). We had waited on the only other group for the first 4 holes. I am solidly in favor of marshals on weekends, but this was a little excessive.
All in all, RIverside is a decent track for the current cost. Lots of wildlife early in the morning. There are even some great ponds for fishing if you can access after the golfers are done. Probably 3.5 stars in my rating system.
