Area's Best Course is hosting 2019 US Senior Open!
Fall golf. My favorite time of year to play. Warren was in superb condition, despite how much play it gets. I love the small Pebble-Beach-sized, heavily bunkered greens that require precise iron play. And bring your sand game. You're gonna need it. Unlike other area courses that have virtually no bunkers at all(fake golf). Did I mention greens? Yeah. They were rolling sweet and I made a ton of putts.
Warren is very playable off the tee, so it is enjoyable for every level of golfer, but challenges the better players by defending par at the green. It is a very enjoyable course to walk as well.
Warren is a sweet little gem and we are lucky to have it! But don't just take my word for it, the USGA thinks so too. Under its direction the course will be set up for the 2019 US Senior Open Championship. What that means to us is we will have a chance to play the pro-set up. I can't wait to see the changes and how well I can score on them.
The staff is friendly and very professional. I have made great improvements from lessons I have taken and highly recommend them. They are knowledgable and the fees more than reasonable.
Great price for what I thought was suppose to be top notch course. But if the I was paying normal price I would be very angry with the golf carts and starter./staff The one we had was very dirty. Looked like had not been cleaned in a while. Then the battery was going dead on 12th hole so they sent new one out that did not having a working navigation and if wanted one stop after 15th hole to get one that does. We got there 10:50 with a 11 tee time with no one waiting and no one even on while one. and starter said waiting 1050 which was a foursome. Why would you make a twosome wait?!?!
Crenshaw loves sand like Nicklaus otherwise a blah track w I80 noise
You’re the wife and I took it today to our trip down from the Grand Rapids Ouray South Bend in Place a Blackthorn the day before which we liked a lot better than the Warren Notre Dame course in all honesty, even though if that was cartpath, only he had a lot more character with the hills But we scored a nice deal on tee off for golf now for $60 for the two of us so for $30 each definitely you’re a bargain. The girl I think her name was Kyle answer the phone. Let us move up our teatime very nice thank you Kyle sorry I did not bring you a rise and roll doughnut but anyway, Mr. Monahan, the starter was a fantastic friendly guy. We hit it off very well , he let us player for some of young guys walking on the first TV just went out to the second wife actually did not like the course because she got stuck in the sand traps too many times and it was real tough for her. They should have a senior to 6300 yards from the whites is a little long for older guy specially, hitting into the one I don’t like hitting three woods all the time after my drives so if you had like a 57, 5800 yard center to that be great and the ladies tees are kind of long till there’s no way , the senior ladies gonna hit a 350 yard par for two shots. Sorry about that but those are two suggestions build some new tees or put a senior tee right in the fairway just like links a Bowen Lake up in Grand Rapids area makes it a lot easier and much better opportunity for old ladies to get on into regulation.
Actually, the conditions were fantastic. They were aerating the fairways and layout is kind of nice for what they got pretty much flex up for a few holes back down by the creek. Clubhouse is really gorgeous. The people are friendly the young people. The parking was kind of cool after you figure it out there’s no bag drop by the clubhouse you had to go back to the parking area where the carts were you took her car to the clubhouse and then proceeded back to the starter shack to meet Mr. Monahan , yeah for a price you can beat it. Can’t believe the senior senior tour played here if they played for the tips them old even at 50 that’s a long track for for them guys but anyway it’s one and done for us. Don’t need to go back with the highway noise of interstate 80 right there. It’s very noisy. Actually Blackthorn is a nice track the wife like that course even though we had to walk a lot because it was park cartpath only we both enjoyed Blackthorn more, but that was extremely noisy with the highway 31 and the airport right there with jets landing constantly it was kind of unique just sitting there watching the Jets.
oh the course reminded me of Thornapple pointe up in Grand Rapids Kentwood area with the planes in the automobiles. Yeah, you heard a couple trains also so that courses got the moniker planes, trains and automobiles. That’s what I would give Blackthorn
Sorry, a Notre Dame lost a game to Clemson. I don’t know what’s with them guys , my claim to fame is that I sold Brian Kelly a car back in the city in the 80s oh skews me the 90s before he won his first championship and at that time he bought a used car believe it or not so that’s all the clues I’m giving you
Yeah definitely try this course once if you score a good deal I wouldn’t pay no 8090 bucks or 100 I just won’t do it per person. I even have a tough time plant paying $100 to play our crate Catia Arcadia.
Not as wild and rollicking as most Coore/Crenshaw layouts, the Warren Course at Notre Dame is more of a slow burn of long par 4s, with a few memorable holes sprinkled in.
There is plenty of width off the tee and the bunkering is not heavy-handed. I love these northern grasses. Everything is lush but not sticky. The bentgrass greens have laid down in these temps hovering in the low 60s and rolled so pure.
The 16th hole was my favorite. Bunkers pepper the left rough and the short second shot plays uphill to a smallish green with a ton of undulation. The short par-3 fourth and the par-5 10th also stood out.
The course is so close to campus that there are views of the golden dome at various points.
Ranked #70on Golf.com’s top 100 you can play and the ninth best collegiate golf course in the U.S., the track is among the country’s best values at $60 walking and $80 with a cart.
Great
Great course all around, played there many times. There was a jr tournament so pace of play was slow but they ended up giving us a free round as well since they were unsure if we would be able to finish. Probably the nicest course in the area. Will for sure play again
Warren is always in excellent shape. You can tell the staff cares about the customers experience. Won’t pass up the opportunity to come back.
Slow
If you like a 6 hour round on a Monday this is your course . Pace of play was some of the worst I’ve ever seen on a course. We played 12 holes and then just left the course. No ranger in sight.
What a JOY!
I’ve played Blackthorn & Warren and a few others in the South Bend area and these 2 ranked top on my list. Warren wasn’t difficult if you’re a consistent player. Lots trouble. Course was pristine, weather was perfect hardly any wind and weather was warm. Greens rolled true and fairly quick. Bunkers were good, soft and not difficult to get out of. Overall, immaculate course conditions. Will return.
Wow!
I love a well maintained course! And this is one of the best in that category. The greens are fast and immaculate! The bunkers are penal so I recommend staying out of them if you can..I can’t wait to go back!
Amazing Course for an amazing price
This may be the best course you can play in the state that’s this cheap. The course conditions were great pace of play was perfect. I played the Sunday of a practice round for the Indiana open. When hearing about this I imagined I was going to have a 5+ hour round because the course was booked full. Nope. 4 hours was all it took. I can’t praise this course enough and I will definitely be back. Practice areas were also very nice. Staff was friendly.
For the price you expect 5 star and you get it from the time you park to the time you leave
