Low Expectations
It's cheap. Do not pay more than $10 for this course. I became a single and was stuck behind a foursome with no etiquette, except for one another.
The course was extremely dry. I understand the time of year, but this was excessive.
I will give it credit that it is a good place to take someone learning the game so you can keep the cost down while they learn.
Great for some fun!
Nice little 9 hole. Not in the greatest shape but for the price it was worth it!
This shouldn't even be called a golf course
Worse course ever. I put in my golf now search to search within 25 miles and it did just that.... Took me 45 minutes to get there. Golf now indicated it was 18 holes but it was just playing the same 9 holes twice. There was no such thing as a fairway or tee box; just weeds and mud. The place was surrounded by a junk yard including an abandoned school bus in plain visibility nestled in the trees off off hole 6/15... Homeless camps all over the place. Literally........ The greens were nice though.
Course for Golf Junkies
This course is definitely a course for golf junkies. I am a beginner golfer and the only reason I play this course is because I try to play as much golf as I can for not a lot of money. The course itself is not in very good shape and the layout is not that difficult (except for the 8th hole). I was able to play the course (9 holes course -you can play twice) for $8 which fits into my golf budget. As a beginner golfer it is not to challenging but it allows me to practice all aspects of the game. I would not recommend this golf if you are an average or above golfer unless you like a real bargain.
Not impressed
Ground hard as a rock. No obvious watering of any kind. More ant holes then green grass. My ball managed to land in an ant dug crack on a fairway that swallowed it up. Never had to take a drop on the fairway before... manager there was very rude, apparently there was a club tournament going on, and the tournament group in front of us was extremely slow getting off the first hole(we were not in it). As a result, the tournament group behind us was lagged. The manager came and chewed us out for not playing fast enough to keep up, and flat out said he didn't believe the other group was the reason for delay. Even the group behind us apologized and told us they knew how slow those players were. The clubhouse is a glorified bar with clubs and balls for sale. I'll stick with my Dallas municipal course that is 5$ more and way better kept and managed. Very disappointed overall.
You get what you pay for
Let me first day I only paid 11 bucks to play here. Greens are in not too bad of shape. Other then that everything is pretty much weeds. Every tee box had an ant hill and was very hard of a surface. I understand this is value golf however I think if you sepend 9 more dollars you can get a much better deal at a well taken care of course.
Sunset Golf
Convenient location and the course are really tight and challenging. The cost is ideal for nine holes. I enjoy golfing here when I can.
Good budget golf course!
Sunset Golf Course is a good value, with golfnow you can play 18 holes for $8. If you got a group of friends and are looking for a relaxing low price course this is it!
Best value
I drove 45 miles to play this course. It was worth the money the greens are better than some of the more expensive course I have played. Somewhat open course with just.enough hazards to make you think about your shots. But still open enough to be able to pull out your driver and swing hard with little fear of losing your ball. If in the area again will play here again.
great price $12 for 18 holes
this course is a great price, however I would like to stress that you get what you pay for. I only paid $12 to play 18 holes with a cart. It's a very fun play however the greens are really really hard therefore fast and the fairways are basically just mowed down weeds however I would like to stress again this was the best $12 game of golf I've ever played the staff is very friendly
Great for beginners
The course is not that well maintained but the staff was friendly enough and it was perfect for us, as we go rarely and simply aren't that good. Easy to get on to and a great value. Enough hazards to keep it interesting. Wish the greens weren't so hard/fast and wish the fairways were better kept, but I will definitely be back.
Course for beginners
Very laid back atmosphere. If your a beginner this is the course for you. I know its winter but you can't distinguish the rough from the fairway. The greens are playable and there are enough hazards to make it challenging.
Not bad for $1 per hole.
Hey it's February and two of us played 18 holes for $36. One of those days in TX where the temperature is approaching 70 which, in the winter, means your going to have some wind to deal with. This is not a manicured track; you would be hard pressed to know if your in the fairway or rough. Everything is dry, hard and fast. Sand traps were in better condition than I would have expected. Greens were dormant but fast and true. Overall, I would play there again.
a diamond in the rough
1,5,8&9 challenging from the black & blue markers .
club house needs some work but a good deal on golf.
Fun 9 Hole course
You should come play here to see the pictures of Mickey Mantle and Babe Didrickson in Pro Shop , and have the pro take a look at your swing or putting stroke . He is an outstanding Player and Instructor. Course is fun ,walkable, and its small greens will sharpen your iron shots and make you feel better about your putting.
sunset
A great challenge...greens are true and fast with well polished cups. What else do you need...best deal in the metroplex.
Course is average and really good for practice.
I played this course frequently when I was just learning how to play golf. It has its challenges for golfers of any level. The staff was very friendly. I'm sure I will be back again
Good for the money
This course looks like it used to be in bad condition, but the staff is trying to make look better. Good greens, with more attention could be a great course.
This course needs to have player assistance (marshal, ranger ect..) on the course.
This course is really for beginners and retired folks. Pace of play could be a lot faster but this is coming from a player who plays better when playing ready golf. A few times new players would not know courtesy of faster players playing through. Also when playing this course, if you plan on playing another nine be prepared to see some people jump ahead on open holes. This has happened to me more than once.
Other than that it is a fun track when everyone's keeping pace.
