Red Hawk Ridge
About
Located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, the Red Hawk Ridge golf course offers beautiful panoramic views of Colorado's Front Range and Castle Rock. The rolling terrain causes dramatic elevation changes for a fun, challenging game. It was designed with a traditional links-style layout with large, undulating greens and generous, subtly rolling fairways. The course has many risk/reward opportunities as well as heavy mounding and strategically placed bunkers. With five sets of tees, Red Hawk Ridge accommodates any skill level of golfer. The golf course's landscape is resplendent with lush native grasses and lakes, and several types of wildlife have even made the course their home.

Fun course for beginners and expereinced players
Love this course and love it more now that they are offering discounted tee times thru Golfnow.com. It's a Jim Engh design so be prepared for large goofy green shapes/contours and lots of elevation changes but it's fun. I played from the whites to accomodate the other pair in our group and the course is less than 6K yards from the wihites so it was pretty forgiving ( I hit a total of 6 drivers all day) but there are 3 other sets of tees if you want a challenge. Course is a little dry but still green and in great shape. Pace of play was excellent. Make sure that you grab a drink to end your round and watch the groups behind you hit their approaches on the 18th hole.
Fun course to play
Well maintained course. It was fun and challenging to play. Wide fairways but you have to place your tee shot in the right area to have a good approach shot to the green A couple of long par fives. Overall it was a fun expierence.
Beautiful and differently challenging
We played on 6/15/2013 and the course was in good shape overall. Best fairways I have played on this year. Greens should be much better in a few weeks. about 1/2 of the greens are slightly bumpy waiting to grow completely in due to late Spring in Colorado. Wide fairways, but tight outside of the generous fairways. you will find some challenging uphill, and down hill shots due to terrain and layout. It's only 6800 at the tips, but it plays a bit longer in that due to the types of shots you have to hit on hills and dog legs. Great views all over the course. Pace of play for us was very good. We can't wait to go again.
OK
GREENS WERE BUMPY. GREAT VIEWS. LOTS OF ELEVATION CHANGE THROUGHOUT. FAIRWAYS WERE NICE.
poor greens quality!
This my son's favorite GC, I like it too.
Very sorry to say: greens are PRETTY BAD!!
Really unfair for any player to pay $79 to really play on "sand". No idea how to "read "it or how many times your ball will jump!
Do not like to come back soon.
This course has stunning views.
This course is a beautiful tract with gorgeous views. Challenging but playable. The late winter snow and ice took a toll on it but it is on its way back... just a couple of weeks of warm weather should bring it back to great conditions. The greens need alot of work and the cart paths require some major repair.
Beautiful course
Very nice layout and beautiful vistas. The greens were a bit rough in spots, not quite healed from aeration. The course is well maintained and the pace of play was decent for a Sunday.
Well worth the drive to Castle Rock.
Fun course, winter kill still a factor
Really enjoyed playing Red Hawk. In regards to layout, I much preferred the back to the front nine, as the front nine was overcrowded by homes. The back nine was picturesque and contained much more change in topography. The back side was also in significantly better shape than the front. Overall though, I really enjoyed myself and will be coming back to play again once the winter rough patches and bumpy greens smooth out.
Scenic and challenging
Par 3s beautiful. Challenging from the tips, enjoyable from whites.
Looked forward a long time to play this course
Visiting my daughter in Castle Rock from Nashville, I have hit on the driving range many times and looked forward to playing Red Hawk Ridge. Finding a Hot Deal on Golf Now, we played the course on Sunday afternoon. My first concern was on the putting green. It is not good at all. The course has a great layout and the fairways are very good. My fears came true on the first green. It is a disaster for a course like Red Hawk Ridge. I do not understand how they will let the greens get in such bad shape. If the greens were better, it would be a wonderful golf course.
Not worth the drive or fee because cond of greens
Greens are in tough shape. For the price the greens should be at least 8-10.
Great Course
Great course, green have some winter kill but should be good later in the summer
Great lay out
The course has a great lay out; fairways were in excellent shape but the greens needs lots of work. I was very disappointed with the greens. I would recommend this course once they get the greens in better shape.
red hawk
good condition for spring average price. fast pace play.
This course has great up and downs with stunning views.
Overall a great course, this is early in the year so it will get better throughout the summer. Strong pace of play and very challenging holes!
Great 27 holes! Great meal!
We played 27 holes and would have played more if the smoke from the fires in the Springs wasn't so thick. The greens were great, some course maintenance probably could have been done at a more convenient time but we weren't disturbed. Teeboxes and fairways were perfect. The cashier in the ProShop was welcoming and knowledgeable about the course, the Bar staff and food was great (Fries were excellent).
Everything and Everybody was excellent with the exception only being:
- The beer-Gal cart didn't appear until afternoon. With the dryness and the smoke we were looking for refreshment much earlier.
- The only reason I place staff friendliness lower than super friendly is due to the original fellow who greeted us at the 1st tee at our 8:06 teetime was generally dismissive and presumptive. We met this fellow again on one of the fairway entrances and he was even less welcoming giving off an air that he was above the position he was performing. My buddy and I both felt this guy needed to find another profession as hospitality wasn't his strong point.
- One last note was that the bar area really needed to speed up their service in the morning. When the beer-Gal isn't out and groups are making the turn they need to realize that they are a critical element to the Golf staff team in quickly attending to golfers so they can get out back out to play, since the golfers are usually looked upon poorly by the ranger if they're perceived as slowing down play. The folks we encountered were more interested in what was happening in the back room and not paying attention to anyone looking like a golfer in a hurry.
Fun hills and water hazard - Beautiful views!
There is a "short" par 5 that is up hills both ways! But, it is made up for on #18. A long and wide downhill fairway with a gorgeous view!!!
Spring was late this year (lots of snow), so the greens on about half the holes are still spotty and bumpy.
Overall - we had a great time. I'll be back.
Course is good
Enjoyed the day, course was in good condition. Members of my group were fun to play with
Nice layout, some elevated t-boxes. Relatively short course, but a wide variety of t-box options (5)
Fun course. Only criticism was shape greens were in - had some fertilizer, lots of brown spots. Lots of,sand traps which come into play, some water, and very scenic despite many of the holes bordered by houses.
Greens were in bad shape
Greens were aerated the first of the month but remain in poor condition. Tee boxes, fairways and sand were in pretty good shape but the conditions of the greens made it pretty hard to make any puts.
