So Much Potential
This course has a fantastic layout but is in horrible condition. There are little to no fairways. I like fast greens that roll true and these greens are fast. The only problem is that they have no grass on them! I hit at least 12 greens in regulation only to have the ball bounce off like it had hit concrete! This course location is out in the country and I felt far away from the city which was nice but won't make the trip again. Oh and no water coolers along the way! Had to stop at the "clubhouse" after the front 9 to get a cup of water.
cheap round?
Having read other reviews for this course, I thought I would give it a try. Not a far drive from my house in Katy and a nice rural setting seemed appealing, though you get what you pay for on this course. There are some nice holes on this course but they would be nicer if somone took better care of it, greens were ok but fairways very rough. The biggest problem I had is that there are no cart paths on 60-80% of the course and it is sometimes difficult to follow. That said, we were scolded for not driving on a 50 ft or so stretch of cart path by a golfer in the group ahead of us, turns out it was a course marshall in the group who thought it a good idea to yell across the course that we should know better, even though the were no signs or markings indicating where to drive, a simple comment would have been fine but we did not need the rude, and very LOUD dressing down we got, we were not even close to the green! Overall, I would only recommend this course to someone that it is convenient for at a budget price.
Good price. Good course for a beginner to intermediate golfer.
The winds were howling at 20+ mph all day when I played, so the course difficulty was a little hard to ascertain. I had a hard time hitting fairways and greens, but when the ball is flying 20 yards off line because of the wind...you just enjoy the fact that you're playing golf. In normal conditions, the course might actually be rated easy instead of moderate, but it also depends on your skill level since water comes into play on quite a few holes. The 8th hole is a tricky par 5 with a split fairway and water running through the middle of it. What a great hole! As for the course condition...the greens were in nice shape and rolled pretty good, but the fairways and rough were dry and there were a lot of times my ball came to rest on a dirt patch when I missed the fairway or green.
The staff was nice and the pace of play was good while I was out there. Overall, I felt like I got my money's worth from my round of golf out at Fox Creek. If you're expecting royal treatment and a 5 star course, you're going to have to pay more. However, if you just want to play golf and enjoy the day for a reasonable price, Fox Creek fits the bill.
friendly course
great value. fairways are a little rough in areas. Greens were smooth. Number 8 very challenging.
Decent Greens!
A neat little country course and priced WELL WORTH what you trade in fuel for a quiet round of golf. Greens are surprisingly nice and heap plenty fast. Some brutal holes- namely #'s 5, 8, 10, & 18. If you play the white tees, the driver isn't always the play. Not a lot of sand, the fairways are weather reflective, but plenty of water & natural hazards if you spray it around.
Great for practice rounds
The course fairways are sometimes rough (typical winter ground) but greens are maintained. A good place to get some golf in for practice.
Fairways need attention
This is not a bad course to play. It's a little challenging but more like a country golf course. The fairways need attention, mainly water but the greens were in great shape.
Well maintained course that is a great bargain.
A course that is almost easy to get on without a reservation and the green fee of $20.00 is an excellent bargain, especially for Senior players.
This is a laid back course that permits walkers and singles. Normally if you are a faster player, you can join a group or just play through. During the week you can play in 2.5 to 3 hours and a little longer on a weekend.
The greens are well maintained and the fairways are generous. The number 5 par 4, number 8 par five and number 14 par 3 are serious challenges! Playing from the blue tees makes almost all of the holes significantly more difficult. Play from the white tees so you can work on your game and enjoy the course!
No Marshalls during the week and they aren't needed. There are Marshalls on the weekends.
A great value
This course has mostly short holes with a few longer ones thrown in. The first tough hole is 3... two good shots to a very small green. 6 is long dogleg right needing a well positioned tee shot to go for the green. 8 is the signature hole, a par 5 featuring a split fairway with a larger pond between them. The second shot will be a lay up for most golfers as there is a pond directly in front of the green. A very good hole.
The back nine is the most scenic but much easier .
Some of the best greens you will find in the Houston area and fairly quick.
Short driving range with " irons only" ...
Very fun short course.
Modest course with a few holes that have character. Texas drought has adversely affected the course.
Course has no marshalls and no real order. Busy day but there were still twosomes and even singles playing. The foursome ahead of us played TWO balls each from every single tee box. We waited on every shot on the front nine until we could jump ahead on #10.
Still, we had a discounted green fee, so...
Fun course, great pace of play, good value for the price paid
Great coupon through golf now. The course and round exceeded my expectations. I will most likely play there again. The course was maintained, with no issues in the fairways or greens. Fairly open but enough hazards that you cannot spray the ball around.
The course has many challenging holes - greens were in good shape.
It's a fun place to go for a quick round with ample challenges for improving your game. Acuracy is important as there are a few water holes that require thought for distance and placement. Greens were good, however a little hard and made "sticking" a lob/approach shot somewhat difficult making those shots stay on the green.
A great value
A long ride down 290 and FM 359 brings you to this nice little golf course near Brookshire. The course's highlights are tight, interesting holes with small, raised greens. Plus, it is so uncrowded, you can play 18 in a little over two hours if you are in a hurry and if your game is on you can consistently break 80 if you are a 13-handicapper like me. For a country course, it is very well maintained, with surprisingly good greens. And at $20 with cart during the week for a senior golfer, it is a great value. The pro shop is nothing fancy with basic equipment and clothing available. The staff is friendly if indifferent. Often, it's a caretaker rather than the pro. The best holes isNo. 8, a par 5 with a split fairway (although you would have to be crazy to go on the right fairway, which offers no advantage in length despite the tighter landing area) and water staring you in the face on the tee shot. The third shot is over water to a generous green. The best par 3 is No. 14, a medium length hole with OB to the left and water in front and to the right. The hole usually plays into a stiff southeast wind, adding to the degree of difficulty. Overall, this hidden gem is worth the trip through the bluebonnet-filled (in spring) countryside.
Great place to play.
Down side is 45 minute from my house. Upside, beautiful course. Medium to hard, but what a great course to tune up your game.
good course for the money
employes are friendly and polite
course is not to hard but you still need to hit good shots to the greens
