The driveable 16th on Rock is the only par-4 I've scored a 2 on but it's easy to score 6 here too. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 07/21/2017

This granite gateway to Boulder #3 is one of several nice touches that add a lot of character to this course. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 07/21/2017

It's a tree - in a sand trap! And it helps separate the Rock course green from the Boulder course green. Photo submitted by pitsbrgher on 05/06/2013
Interesting course, but lot's of blind shots and uinexpected water hazards.
Decent course, but need local knowledge in several holes. The routing is confusing, with two courses overlapping often.
this course has gteat rock features you play over and around
I would play this course all the time but it is priced out of my range being I am on fixed income. Going on line to Golf Now and getting 55% off is a great deal. I get to play a great course now and then This course is just the greatest.
Thank Golf Now
Truly a great get-a-way course. No homes, just golf and views.
Enjoyed the solitude and challenge Rock Harbor had to offer.
good value, nice course but incredibly slow pace of play
Great course, well maintained, staff was friendly. Play time was horrible, took us over 5 1/2 hours to play and this was on a non holiday Thursday. Although they warned us it would be slow and suggested we play the boulder course (which is not nearly as nice), this was pretty ridicules. We waited at least 3-5 minutes on every single tee box. I had not had this problem when I played there before. The staff needs to find the bottle neck groups and get them to speed up play.
Some of the obstacles are a bit much.ie large boulders which slows the play down.
I like this course but a couple of the holes do not have an unobstructed approach to the green.
Nice course good prctice facility.
Booked on golf now for 30$. At that price point is was a good value. Staff was good. Unfortunately the 4sm of very high handicappers decide to play the tips so play was a little slow for my standards. The marshal was not happy about it but what can he do. We finished about 20 minutes behind average pass. Not to bad considering.
The course was okay a little short from the whites, about 6200 but the next set up was playing 6900 and a little long for two in my group. The greens were slow but consistent.
Over all I liked the course but im not rushing back to play again. There are a lot of good option in this area at around the same price point.
very nice
Love course had 5 sets of tees for anyone who need it to play forward and fiarways and greens were in great shape. Would surely play it more offen if it was closer to my home..
It's called Rock Harbor for a reason, but very well place bolders to enhance the golf experience
Wonderful course, great price from Golf Now, excellent day. Drove 2 hrs to play this course, would do it again in a heartbeat
pace of play
this is a nice course, but very confusing. Greens are beautiful and they roll great but a pace of play is terrible. it took me 51/2 hours to play 15 hols and I quit after that. this was the 2nd time I had to quit because of the slow pace of play and there was no reneger to rectify the situation. I gave it 2 stars and do not recommend this course because of the pace of the game. if you don't mind playing slow you will enjoy the course.
Well-maintained course in great condition
There are two courses at Rock Harbor. We played the Boulder Course since there was no delay in getting off the first tee. The Rock Course was unbelievably crowded. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in perfect condition. The Boulder Course uses the same 9 holes twice but with two different pin placements or tee boxes. This course has lots of water hazards that are not always visible from the tees or fairways so beware. This was a great value for the GolfNow price and we will go back again. Be aware that the staff is emphatic about no denim clothing!
Fairly open but challenging...fun course to play
The Pro-shop staff and starter were extremely accommodating, friendly and helpful. Food service staff must have been having a bad day and beverage cart girl is ready for Nascar - crashes included. Course plays fair, is scenic, in great condition and no two holes seem the same. We had a great time except for how long it took us to play. There should be no problem playing this course in about 4 hours except for the 3some, 2somes and a single who we let play threw....which was 5 in all.
The Boulder course
I played nine holes only. This course is very well maintained. Pristine fairways and greens. Be warned, if you play eighteen, there are some double up holes since the full eighteen has not been completed. Very undulating greens on some holes, have to pick the right club to the stick if you're gonna get it on the right level. Also, there are a few fairway traps that are NOT sand, but, crushed gravel. A lot of ponds that will find a ball or two if you don't know the layout. Number 2 from the blue tees plays 644 yrds, an arz kicker if you can't drive it 300.
I played by myself in 1 hour, not sure how long it would take with a bunch of hackers out there.
All in all, a great course! Thank you golf now for the $15 9.
Nice layout
Great value. Will return even though it's over an hour away.
always a great golfing experience
Rock Harbor is one of tne top 3 courses in the Shenandoah Valley
Rock Harbor - Rocks!!
Beautiful course, very well maintained, great clubhouse and grill. We had a very enjoyable round; my handicap is about 24 and my guys is about 17 and we both thoroughly enjoyed this course. Interesting holes, challenging greens (some VERY challenging!) and it seemed like a surprise around every corner. The signatures heart-shaped green was beautiful - and quite difficult!
I will certainly play again, and would recommend this course for anyone who appreciates the beauty and diversity of golf holes on a course.
Tip-top conditions
The course was in wonderful shape, plush spring-time conditions on tee boxes, fairways and greens. Played quickly and staff was accomodating. One issue- for me - was they could do a better job with distance markers. Some were not to be found and those that were visible seemed to be off a bit. But that's nitpicking over an otherwise enjoyable course and round.
Excellent conditions for a public course.
Rock Harbor can be challenging for all levels of play, beginning with the junior golfers to the zero handicappers. Players need to avoid water and OB on most holes and the large and sometimes severe undulating greens can offer challenging putts to the best putters. Fairway waist bunkers are carefully located on several holes making driving accuracy even more challenging.
Great course!
This was a great deal, a pretty course and well maintained.
The course has a good mix of elevation changes and water features.
The course was in good shape and well maintained. The Rock course design is a little quirky especially by the lakes where a number of holes crisscross.
Scenic course with a comfortable feel
Cold day. Had difficulty getting the tee peg into the ground. The course was in super shape otherwise. There are 18 holes (Rock Course) with another 18 under construction (Boulder Course), so you will see some equipment and non-golfing personnel on the premises, but they did not interfere with play. It is an hour and fifteen minute drive to this course for me, but worth it for the great playing condition and views. Friendly, small pro shop and nice grille for a bite to eat in a modest building with convenient parking. The fairways are open enough on many holes to be fair, but there are also the more challenging holes, including an island green Par 3, sharp doglegs, elevated greens with blind landing areas, and risk-reward holes. On the quirky side, there is one tee box that uses artificial turf as it is constructed along the side of a water feature that you hit over on your tee shot. Hard to set your tee peg to the desire height there. This is a good course and, for the price, a great value. Eager to see the Boulder 18 when it opens.
