Nice nine hole course with a great price!
We enjoyed playing this course! Well maintained and staff was friendly. Only problem was that we had a couple hitting up on us, when we told management they didn't seem to care. Acted like it was our fault. Did not appreciate that. But other than that, we enjoyed ourselves.
Friendly staff, good value
Course is in very good condition. The tee boxes are pretty worn but nothing a tee won't fix :-)
The staff, Jim and Rick in particular, are very helpful and attentive. I've belonged to high end private clubs that didn't gives as good of service. Rick also made sure I got coupons for the next time I came out.
Great Hidden Course
I love Greentree Golf Club. It is a nice, quiet course that provides a good challenge. The course is excellently maintained and the staff is very friendly.
OK for the money
A little querky but in pretty good shape. Greens were good. Fairways are just typical yard grass. A good bit of crabgrass. In fairways.
Ok for the money, but probably won't play it again
I had played this course once before, so I knew what to expect in regards to the course itself, which is a fair to average layout of 9 holes. The course itself was in decent shape for early spring, so I didn't have much issue there, or really high expectation.
The issue was really with staffing and the clubhouse. Playing on a gorgeous Sunday morning in April, I expected the course to be putting it's best foot forward. Instead, there was one person in the clubhouse checking in players, and no other staff in sight. This caused confusion on the 1st tee box, especially with people coming off of hole 9 and making the turn to play 1 again. A ranger would have been able to keep things moving a bit better.
After playing the first 9, we ducked into the clubhouse for a bite and drink before continuing on.... and was sorely disappointed. At 11:30-ish on a Sunday morning, there were no food options other than some pre-packaged snacks (chips, pre-wrapped sandwiches, candy bars), and a mini fridge with water, Gatorade, some soda, and a couple cans of beer (Bud Light and Yuengling).
The course has some potential... plenty of open land around the course to put in a second nine, decent layout, decent challenge, good location... however, the lack of staff, organization, and even basic amenities make it one to avoid. Pay the extra $10 bucks and play somewhere else until the owners make the investment to improve.
OK course; slow play; rude people in clubhouse.
Initially played Greentree in April 2015 by using a special offer from the Cincy Golf coupon book. At that time, course wasn't busy, and clubhouse help seemed thrilled to get the business. Finally had a chance to return to the course in October. Came armed with another coupon special; clubhouse help seemed peeved about having to honor the coupon. By the time that I got to the first tee, there were six groups ahead of me. Pace of play was dreadfully slow; ended up being a five hour round of golf.
Course isn't anything special. It's just a nine-hole course carved out between some farmland. Wouldn't be a bad place to play once in awhile if play wasn't so slow, and the people in the clubhouse weren't so rude.
Aerated Greens
I think that golf courses should post it online or make it protocol that if any person inquires about tee times, to inform them the greens have been aerated. Nothing against the course it was well maintained but no golfer wants to play on a course when the greens are like that.
Don't play more than 9
I don't recommend playing 18 there. We stopped at the turn to use the facilities and get a drink, being there is not a beverage cart. They had one person working the golf and snack bar. When we came out to tee off, we were 3 groups back somehow. Long story short, it took almost 6 hours to play 18
Greentree Golf Course
Very nice facility for a golfer like myself. I play casually with no desire to push those in front nor hold those eager to pass. This is a friendly course where manners were used as such.
Not bad 9 hole course
This course isn't a bad little 9 hole course. Nothing spectacular, but the fairways and greens were in decent shape. They need to work on their cart paths
Narrow Fairways
This is a unique course. It looks like they carved the course out of a cornfield. The fairways are narrow and hilly which makes the course challenging. If you don't hit the fairway, you will most likely lose your ball. Since it is a 9-hole course you play it twice for the 18 holes which make the turn for the second nine the problem. It backs up from people starting the first nine. We started early so we had no problem on the first nine holes. On the second nine it played so slow that we skipped two holes to get ahead of two slow groups in front of us. Overall not a bad course except for the slow play. The greens are in good shape. The fairways are a bit hard though.
Poor course, not worth a cheap round. Needs taken care of.
Course was in terrible shape. It was a good price, so I thought I would try it. Not even worth the $15. Tee boxes were aweful. Fairways were not nice. The rough was way too long and thick. Cart paths were random patches of stone and dirt. Greens were pretty good though, as was the layout. But the course just looked like one that was not taken care of with many places in play with just dirt where there should be grass. The location has good natural hills, I would love to see this course expand to 18 holes and be taken care of. It has potential, just not taken care of.
Good elevation changes
Worst thing about our round? 92* and humid. If you like a relatively long course with rolling hills and doglegs, this is an excellent course. Can't complain played boggie golf on an extremely hot day. Round could've been much better taking away a couple of out of bounds holes.
Slow, slow, slow
Happy little 9 holes. I have played twice as a single and will not be back. The pace of play is just too slow. This course is truly for beginners or seniors. There is nothing wrong with the course just be warned this course will take 3-4 hours minimum. Let me be clear if I could play faster, I would play here.
Not for everybody
This course is only 9 holes and is decent layout ... for a moderately good golfer. It is definitely NOT the place for the typical player who would go there for the price you pay. EXTREMELY narrow fairways and tiny greens are not at all welcoming to the average golfer. Play somewhere that will make you round more enjoyable.
Nice place to work on your game
This 9 hole track is cut thru a famers field. Very unique layout. A few holes are a little gimmicky. Greens are in great condition and the grass is cut low everywhere.
NEVER AGAIN
This course is in need of better management. It's a beautiful course, but don't waste your time.
Challenging but Fun!
I played this course with my buddy last Sunday and the first thing I noticed was that it was very secluded. It was nice and quiet everywhere on the course. We played from the blue tees and found them to be quite challenging, in a good way. The course itself was in very good shape all around except for the greens which clearly had been aerated recently, causing the ball to bounce around instead of rolling smoothly. The staff was friendly and the food was average for a golf course. We got a heck of a deal on Golf Now and I would do it again without hesitation.
Good course for a casual round of golf
aside from the limitation of only nine holes this course is fine for average golfers. in most cases there is plenty of room to roam but there are tight spots that can pena;lize wayward shots. the greens were a little bumpy because that had been recently areated but were in good shape and good sized .
Too slow
This is a 9-hole course. We played 18, which means you replay the same 9. Other twosomes were doing the same. For the first 9, we joined a twosome that was making the turn. It was extremely slow - had to wait on every tee box and some shots in between. It took almost 3 hours for the first nine - completely unacceptable. After that, we were by ourselves and the course emptied out and we cruised around in a little over 1.5 hours. They needed to have a ranger keeping up the pace of play, and probably needed to group twosomes into foursomes (not sure if that speeds things up or not). They maybe also need to space out the tee times to allow for groups making the turn instead of getting a bottleneck on #1.
I give it one star. The sand traps are hard as a rock and full of weeds the fairways are mediocre . Staff not so friendly and wouldn't be surprised if it was the future site of Homearama in 2018.
