Great Round!
Played here this Saturday with a buddy of mine. We have both played here before. Course was in overall good shape. A very reasonable price for a round a golf. 18 holes took right around 4 hours and 20min. We will definitely be back again soon.
gave it one more shot
The new greens they had put in last year are certainly no longer new. many barron spots and bald patches. the course was pretty wet after all the rain we had and people continue not to use the cart paths and drive in wet areas leaving ruts that will take alot of time to heal.I wouldn't be surprised if the course was not a course next year.
terrible greens
not sure what's going on at this golf course but the greens were in probably the worst shape of ever seen 50% of the greens were dead if not pure sand
Wet but great!
Played on a day when it was very wet but still enjoyed it!
Played Eastwood yesterday. I had played it about 3 years ago and it was the first time for my wife. Got a decent deal on Golfnow. Their new greens make the course a lot better than I remember although they need some more time to get their full effect. Course has many doglegs and enough hazards to make for an interesting round. Most of the water does not come into play unless you spray the ball around. Pace of play was pretty slow although we were a twosome following several foursomes so we dealt with it. Also the course had a lot of wet areas from the recent rain and the customers were not using good judgement as to where they took their carts. Too bad for the course. Will need a lot of rut repair work. Course has improved since I played it last and I would play it again.
Continues to show improvement
Eastwood continues to show improvements from years past conditions.
Positives:
*The management invested in redoing all
greens.
*Golf course is now being maintained with
dedicated staff working daily on course.
*Lost bunkers are growing/filling in nicely.
*Fairways and Tee Boxes returning to good
conditions.
Cons:
*No marshall to monitor pace of play or poor
golfer etiquette of riding roughshod and
destroying the hard work put in by
greenskeepers and maintenance crews.
* Management / Crew needs to rope off soft
spots and greens to protect its investment.
*Golfers driving onto green collar area and
general soft soft spots leaving deep tire tracks
and scarring of fairways.
*7 of 18 new greens have suffered from
improper maintenance,
*Bunkers need work
Enjoyable round
The course was in good condition although still a little wet from recent heavy rains. It provides lots of challenge with water hazards and sand traps throughout. We thoroughly enjoyed our round.
Course handled 2 inches of rain
Course got 2 and a half inches prior day. Still very playable and allowed carts on fairways at 90 degrees. Dead areas on every green need attention. Priced accordingly.
Too long no rangers
4 hrs and 45 mins and didn't play last 2 holes. Slow players should let faster ones play through. One foursome holding up the entire day for everyone else, there needs to be some responsibility by the course to maintain pace of play.
Ground Under Repair
Every green was 20 to 50 percent under repair with huge sand patches void of grass. On a couple of holes where 50% of the green was sand they had the cup placed next to the repair, so basically you are putting on sand greens. The rest of the course was run down and ran on a shoe string budget. Club house was run down... no one selling food... staff completely absent. his was a $15 round on a Saturday in season... not $30.
One of the worst in Orlando area
Was fortunate I got a hot deal of $9. That was the good part. Fairways are not good. Greens in terrible shape and have a lot of sandy patches on the greens as they are diseased and very rough around the edges. I would never play here for the price they normally charge. $30-$40. For that price you can play better courses and in better shape for that price. CONCLUSION, if you play here. Don’t pay more than $15 for this track. Get the HOT DEAL OR PLAY SOMERHERE ELSE.
Good price not good course
For $15 bucks it's not a bad place to play. At $40 you can find much better. Green are spotty and hard to find grass on the fairways. Good layout. To bad they have let this place go.
Great track, conditions have and continue to improve
I have been playing here for many years, great layout, great people that work and play here. Course is in much better condition that in past years and it is obvious that they put efforts and some monies into making it better. The course never drains well, so there are many soft areas and some greens and fairways have gotten patchy, but it looks like they are trying to remedy the greens issue, cant really do much about poor drainage. The sand on hole 18 must have come from a rock quarry, it is full of pieces of concrete, rocks, they need to rake and pick through the sand and take out the 100's if not thousands of cement and rock pieces, some pieces are huge.
Other than these few issues, love the course, greens roll well and you need to bang it pretty good to score.
good value
I have played this course about 5 times and I seem to like it more as I get to know it. There are many dog leg lefts and I am right hand so it makes me work for a good score. Yesterday I played poorly...could have been in the mid 90's but a couple of holes beat me up hence 103.
There is quite a bit of water...almost every hole...but it does not much get into play if you hit it where you plan. I'd say it is worth the drive if you live within an hour or so.
Greens in bad shape
All greens damp all day, wet on approach with most balls plugging or no run to green. Lots of dead spots on greens. Not ready for public yet.
Maybe try in the summer
Traps had 100% dirt. No rakes either. Divot mix was sand and dirt. Course does not drain well, hence no sand in the bunkers. Had to wipe mud off the ball every shot except on 2nd putts, even though there was mixed sun and clouds and not 1 raindrop. Greens were dirt in places, very bumpy in other places. Tee boxes were not good.
Maybe try in the summer when the course dry’s out.
Good bang for the buck
Played this course through golf now hot deal; so, price was right. The staff acted like they wanted to go home when I checked in, but it was 10 a.m.! LOL
The fairways were in pretty good shape and I could see that the greens keepers’ were working on the course. Greens needed more work, but not bad. EastWood used to be a tough, but good course with fast greens. Not so much now, but getting better (while Stoneybrook East goes down). I think the course has improved a lot over the last couple of years and hope they figure out how to keep it dry. Not sure I like how many fairway bunkers have been filled in, but that’s a business decision.
