The Tattersall Youth Development Center at The First Tee Chesterfield Golf Course
About
The Tattersall Youth Development Center at The First Tee Chesterfield Golf Course, as well as the First Tee of Richmond, was established to provide educational golf programs for junior players. This comprehensive learning facility includes an 18-hole golf course, a three-hole practice loop, a large grass practice tee, a putting green, and a short-game practice area. There's also a staff of qualified coaches and golf instructors that can help you improve your score no matter what your weakness is. As a learning course, it might not be what low handicappers are looking for if they want a challenge, but it's a perfect place for beginners and high handicappers to get some practice with the game. The layout is very forgiving with wide-open fairways that offer plenty of room. The greens are fast and sometimes framed with bunkers. There are several par-3 holes that will give you a chance to work on your short game.

Over all great
I had a great time playing on Friday. There weren’t many people out so there was no one behind us pushing us along. The only thing I noticed was that the T boxes on the black Tees need a lot of attention. They are mostly dirt at this point but it’s still early in the season.
A gem
Great little course for practice and regular play. Learn to score well here on its several par 3s and stretch it out some on its couple of par 4s &5s. Kids will love it and better players should appreciate that short doesn’t mean easy. Fun and challenging for all. The young lady running the pro shop is a real pro. Her brother plays like one already.
Pace of play is awful
I tried to get a early tee time to avoid rush but this was still not enough to overcome the overcrowding of tee times and bad pace of play.
Great place to work on you game.
This course has 9 par 3's and great for beginners. Also great for anyone wanting to work on there game. There is a great training program for kids as well.
Great day to golf
My friend and I had a great time at the first tee of chesterfield. We had a great round. Pace of play was excellent. Got our round completed in under 3 hours. I will definitely be back to play again.
Great Beginner Course
It’s a short course, but that’s good for a beginner like me. There are still challenging Par 5 and Par 4 holes or they were to me at least. Round was 3.5 hours on a crowded Saturday. I can see this being a great after work course during the week.
Good Course in Great Shape
Nice course in very good shape. Bunkers and bunker rough are 1st class. Great deal for 18 holes. Short course but not very forgiving. Perfect practice for a high handicapper like me.
Greater beginner course to practice irons
This is a great beginner course to practice iron play in particular but it is just an average course. The conditions are always just ok. The pace of play is usually slow because ALOT of people play this course, and in particular it's a very family friendly course so it can move pretty slow. The course isn't super challenging, but it's a great weekday night type course. It's not a course I'd recommend if your coming from out of town though and want to play something nicer.
...Forgot how bad this course was!!
This course is barely A step above the driving range! It's pretty bad when you get an eagle on a hole but you can't count it because the par-5 was only 421 yards! The course layout is as crummy as it gets too! I have to remind myself... Don't go back!
Ok... it's a youth development center, but I was more frustrated with the conditions than anything!! And 421 yard holes should be par 4s, youth development center or not!! Although I never saw 1 kid out there the whole day, I feel bad that they have to play such a crummy course!!
It is a YOUTH development center.
