Great Layout
After reading through some of the reviews I almost decided to not play here. The weather had turned the night before and it was a very windy day and not a great day for golf, but I decided to go and play anyway. I am so glad I did! Course was in better shape than id imagined after reading revies and the layout of the course is fun and beautiful. The new hole 4 is a fun hole to play, it is a drivable hole all over water if you dare.... For the price and the fun I had playing this course, I would definitely play here again if I were ever in the area again.
Course layout is amazing, but course conditions very poor.
Seems like the course hasn’t seen water in a year. Very dry, even the green side bunkers. It was very hard and tedious surface to play on.
Poor Condition
The course needs water badly. Only greens appear to be watered and they are pretty good. Course appears to be on the down slide.
Pretty good time
I’m sure my review would be better if I’d played better, haha! In all seriousness it was an interesting course that was a little rough around the edges- no pun intended!
Review
Some parts of the course were a little rough but I think that was due to the hardcore rain the night before and the tournament that teed off before us all in all a beautiful and challenging course
NEVER AGAIN
I have been playing golf for 33 years, this was literally the worst golf course I have ever played. The fairways are barren with enormous patches of weeds in them. The greens were trashed, missing patches of grass all over them, holes from either animals or something in them. The driving range netting was torn and missing on both sides, allowing range balls to fly into the parallel running fairways, the fairways were littered with these balls. We were almost hit by range balls 2 different times. If the course wasn't bad enough, the staff we encountered were very rude. They acted as though this was a fancy country club; this is NO country club. In hindsight, I wish I had taken pictures of how bad, then I could have posted them. I will never return to this course again!!!
Poor Charlie
Charlie at Grand Summit is a respected golf professional and I hate to see him have this course in its condition be associated with him,
The good
1. Greens were above average
2: Staff was friendly
The BAD:
1. To call this course a goat farm is offensive to any self respecting goat! Course conditions are absolutely awful.
2. Pity the fools that are members, To play GS multiple times may be cruel and unusual punishment
3. Newer signature hole was so dry and so hard it was laughable
4. Don’t use premium golf balls on GS, once they hit the pavement, a.k.a. fairway, you have little control over where the ball will rest.
5. GS is a waste of your and my time and to actually pay for it is foolish.
6. Many Lindsey courses are quirky an GS fits the bill, they should issue you a roll of sod at check in so you could take it with you so to have some grass to hit from while on the course!
Unfortunately, I expected better conditions on the fairways and greens. No grass, hard packed fairways made the round less enjoyable. The comment from my playing partner (also their first time to play the course) was if the price was higher, he would not have played.
Not bad for Hot-Deal price
Not a bad course for the money we paid, but we were on a hot-deal. I wouldn't feel the same way based on the regular price of our time. Greens were in good shape, but the rest of the course was pretty bad. Fairways were so thin that drives down the middle would roll off into the rough with even the slightest slope.
