About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in April 2018.
Located just southeast of downtown Houston, Glenbrook Golf Course tumbles across dramatically rolling terrain. The course traverses a bayou, which adds scenery but makes it a tough layout to walk since you often have to cross long bridges. There are many risk-reward opportunities where the more accurate you are, the greater the reward. Stands of mature trees line the fairways at Glenbrook and there are also strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Water hazards come into play on several holes. One of the most memorable water holes is the par-5 ninth, which demands a tough 180-yard carry over a wide creek that sits just in front of the green. Even with a good tee shot down the long fairway, you'll still have to lay up to make it onto the green.

GB is fun and getting in better shape
Go out and support your local munies! Glenbrook is a fun layout and the course is good shape thanks to the hardworking staff.
Course is improving
I have been playing this course on and off for several years. The recent hard work by the staff to get the course in good condition is starting to pay off. Unfortunately we play on a week the greens were aerated. But, that is good. It shows they are working to make it better. They were also aerating on of the fairways. That is good sign that they intent to get the course back in good shape. This is a fun course where nothing is straight and you have to think less than driver more than on some courses. I look forward to the improvements and playing again.
It's getting better....
The lay out its fine , the green are fast and the fairways re clean cut and around the greens
The banked actually have some good sand.
Im coming here.
Pleased
Some challenging holes (dog legs, water) and a beautiul layout. Unfortunately, due to long draught, the ground was hard and gras on fairway suffered (greens are ok), but would be good once watered. Played on sunday afternoon and once passed a flight of 4, never got close to another. Friendly stuff.
Golfinguy
Love the staff. Everyone is super friendly remember your name. Course is well kept for a City course that has tons of rounds each month. Tee boxes and greens in good shape. Fairways need a little more attention and water. Carts are fairly new. No driving range but a practice area. So you get what you play for and I feel this is a goid value. Only
Great Round
Nice golf course and greens were in great shape. Looking forwarding to the next.
Glen Brook is a gem
This is a challenging course and well maintained. It is under threat from people who do not understand the value of golf to the community. All ages and all walks of life get exercise and enjoy the Houston Outdoors. Please help support the efforts to preserve Glen Brook Golf.

Wow
It had been about 30 yrs since the last time I played. The refurbished course was a fantastic surprise! It was tougher to take the shortcuts on the dog legs cuz the trees grew... Hehehe! The watery carries was a surprise!!... fun even though I lost 3 balls in the water. One went into the deep dark forest... Hahaha. Too bad some dummies trashed a few greens with wheelies however the greens were good! Fairways good too. I'd play again and again for the challenge!
Tee Times overbooked
My tee time was at 1:10. We did not tee off until 1:30 because th course was over booked and I had to wait for carts before playing which is an alarming indicator that the course is over booked.
The first 9 took 3.5 hours, so we decided not to play the back 9.
If I had known the course was overbooked I wouldn't have played.
The course has taken on a new look!
I was excited to see the course take on a new and improved look! From the staff, to the greens , the carts and attitude of everyone involved. Only negative I have is, cleaning the trash out of the pits that had water in them and soften the tee boxes. Very hard and difficult to place the tee in the ground. Please keep Glenbrook a staple of that community!
Great Improvements at Glenbrook
Having heard and read that there had been significant improvements to this course (I last played about 18 months ago, and the carts/course/facilities were all a C in my opinion at that time), I replayed it with three golfing friends who had never played the course.
WOW! What a difference, course is now well groomed, greens are maintained and a real challenge, carts are now state of art new, pro-shop and cafe revamped ,and the cost is unbelievable value for money ($30 with cart on Saturday morning). Pace of play was ideal, no waiting and no pressure from behind.
My friends all thought it was a really interesting course that offered a real challenge - they want to play it again soon.
Congratulations are deserved to all those people (paid and volunteers) who have brought about this transformation.
Looking Good!
I've played this course before and it is in much better shape than what I remember. The greens were the most pleasing surprise. I would rate the greens a 4, but Fairways and tee boxes a 3. I would say it's a 3.5 on course conditions. It's a nice layout with multiple long shots over the bayou, so if you can't carry drives 200, you'll need to stay away from the back tees. Overall, I was pleased with the course and will be back.
Greens too firm
Fun course with lots of challenging holes! However, the Greens were way too firm and impossible to land on. Hit about 6 shots from 150 out that hit the green and rolled off everytime. It was like hitting onto an ice rink, the only way to get on was to hit thr ball 20 yards short and let it roll.
Greens while too firm, did roll nicely.
Lots of trees so the leaves on the ground make looking for your ball a nightmare
Mn
Lots of positive work on course makes this a winner again!
Be ready to hit over water. This course was in very poor shape 10 months ago, but alot of work has brought this course back. greens are good and fast.
Should be in great shape in the next 6 months.
Good for the money
I recommend this Golf Course is a challenge it has good condition but small greens with nice undulations.
