value golf
I played this course every weekend back in the 80's. It was fun to see it again. It was a.little ragged but very playable. Looking forwatd to playing it again soon. $20.00 including cart. It was fun.
Excellent value
Not fancy, but 18 holes with a cart for $13 is much better than $12 for par 3 on foot at melrose. Will be playing again soon.
Well Worth It
Read other reviews about the state of the course but found it pretty much OK. It's not a pristine course charging top dollar but I doubt you'd find better for $10 including a cart anywhere. Greens never perfect but nowhere near as bad as others have noted...
Worst Course
Terrible condition
greens have stuff all over them, cannot get a true roll on them.
greens wouldn't hold approach shots
barely any cart paths to ride on
NO DRIVING RANGE for warm ups
NO CART GIRL or water on the course
Easy to lose balls on normal shots b/c the course is in such bad condition.
Wish I would have not played and gone somewhere else
You get what you pay for
If you can find the $10 golf now deal for this course, go play it. If not it's not worth the money. Fairways are dry and underwatered. Some greens are in good shape, other are literally unplayable. As per usual you get what you pay for.
Faded Glory
The bones are all there, but the rest is ragged. But, the price is right and the make the best of what they have. I would rather play this old charmer 3 times than some swankienda subdivision course once.
Be prepared for plinko
The one downfall to this course, and it's major, is their greens are horrible. I have played at the course several times over a span of two years and the greens don't change. They are like plinko. If you don't know what I'm talking about, YouTube it. They don't even have the common courtesy of sanding over the greens.
- also, you can pay for the course with credit card. But not for food and beverages.
Old established course
First time playing course. Older course with tight fairways and water comes into play. Pro shop hard to locate on first time. Hint: look for the cats and they will direct you! Played twilight so not much traffic. Course has seen better days but price point just right. Old wooden bridge on Par 3 Hole #6 caused me some stress! Some of the fairways could have used cutting. Would play again someday.
Horrible Shape
I should have known when I got a rate of $10 that the course would be trashed. I thought it would be decent enough to play but it was like hitting off a dirt field. It does not appear to have been updated at any level since the 1970's. The staff was extremely friendly though. I would never go back to this course unless someone paid me to play there. It was that bad.
Nice little course
This is the second time I have played at Texaco. This is a nice quiet course to play on when you aren't in a hurry. Love the surroundings of the course, especilally the back nine. It circles around the entire course, and the 11th hole has a sweet right dog leg that takes you back into the wooded area. It is quite peaceful from there to the 13th. All in all, a wonderful fairly priced course.
good walking course
The course condition is marginal, but it does have a decent layout with variety. Park-type layout - not a subdivision course.
PRACTICE
GREAT COURSE TO PRACTICE YOUR GAME AT
STAFF IS HELPFUL
LIKE THE LAYOUT LACKS THE UP KEEP
Good Price
You booked several people in the middle of a tournament they ran out of carts and it took over 5 hours to play 18
Course was too old
Was not pleased with the conditions of this course. The pictures online appeared to be photo shopped because they did not match the actual conditions.
I love Texaco
Texaco is challenging for beginners, but makes you be consistent as an intermediate player... not too long, not too short... long par 3's, short par 5's... plenty water hazards, decent price from GolfNow... will definitely be back again
Just a little love...
The course was greener than a lot of public courses in Houston. Grass needed some trimming, greens needed some love. But, it was a good day at the golf course. The Par 3's were pretty tough, but it still plays like a links course.
Worst course I have played using golf now
Poor course and the staff was rude and extorted five more dollars from me
Bad shape
I have played Texaco for 25 years and I have never seen it in this bad of condition. It had not been mowed and the greens were dirt. It is obvious they need some money, but the folks that work there is the nicest people around. I hope you can get the course in shape.
