really

we played in the cold and slight rain. the 3 of us finished in 3.5 hours. since there wasn't anybody behind or in front of us and we had a tie for our friendly competition, we wanted a one hole playoff but the management wouldn't allow it. I could see this on a busy day. Today there was maybe 20 people on the entire course. 2 cans off pepsi was $4.50. Really?!

It's November, what do you expect?

While I don't expect much when golfing in IL in November, I do expect Golfnow and the golf courses to mention aerated greens and fairways. I also don't expect to wait behind fivesomes. Note, the rating would not be so low if I played this course any other time of the year.

A little heads up would be nice

This was my first time playing this course. There was no mention anywhere of aerated greens and fairways.... yet every green was like putting on a gravel road. I know it's common practice to aerate the greens late in the season, but a little heads up would have been nice. There were no signs, no postings on golf now, and no mention of it from the pro shop staff or the greenskeeper!

I'm a little angry that we had to pay full price on account of the course not being in top playing condition.

Overall it's an easy course, and a nice place to get out if you just want to have a good round of golf. I would't say it's challenging by any means. There are very few trees and most of the bunkers protect the greens only. It's one of the flatter courses in the area. Great for beginners!

The driving range is really nice. It's tough to find grass tees these days, and the practice area here is very large and accommodating. If only there was a way to know what the yardage markers actually represented ( a sign perhaps?)

Why they feel the need to use gas powered carts? I do not know. They're loud and they stink.

I'll go back, but only at a discount. And If I find the greens aerated again without fair warning, I'll ask for a refund.

Aeration not mentioned in hot time.

Aeration made greens completely unplayable. Not mentioned in description of golf now offer. Price was good but size of holes and amount of sand made the round unenjoyable. Could have played other courses for same price.

Better than most

This is my first round this year at Indian Lakes and was very pleased with the course condition this late in the year. I would rate the current course condition as outstanding. Fairways and greens were well maintained.

By Far the Best Value in the Area

I have golfed in this area for the past 13 years and I live (Wood Dale) by two DuPage golf courses (Oak & Maple). I golf 50-60 rounds per summer. My buddies and I have made an art out of finding the best value, the best coupons, at the course that are the most fun. The Best Value and the Best Course, with the Best Staff - NO QUESTION - is Indian Lakes. That's it.

Nice layout

Fun course. 3 nines. Pay attention to short putts as greens have subtle breaks. Very fair course. Greens are undulating. Bunkers are to be avoided and there are a lot of them.

Nice course ruined by a very basic thing

We took a midweek trip (Wednesday) to the suburbs to entertain a client and relax on a beautiful day for golf. Sunny 72 degrees and vurtually no wind.
When we arrived there was no one to greet us, so we walked through what seemed like a dated entry way into the club house. The clerk never greeted me, I walked right up to the counter and greeted him. I paid for our 4 some and he gave us directions.
Once we were outside, we met Frank. I am guessing is the golf super but not for sure. He was a pleasant man with a lot of knowledge of course and very willing to share. He instructed us where to tee off and also told us about the halfway house, said if it wasn't open at the turn that we could go inside the restaurant to grab lunch.
So off we go. About the 3rd hole we looking for the beverage cart but found nothing. 6th hole, 7th hole still nothing.
We reached the turn and the halfway house was boarded up so we decided to grab a quick bite inside. Walked into the restaurant and again no one was there to greet us. I finally found a server and asked if we could grab a couple of hotdogs and some beers and be on our way. She then told me they did not have hotdogs. So I asked about burgers. Sure she said. To cut this long story a little shorter....Our 4 some spent an hour in the halfway house and $60 on 2 burgers and 2 club sandwiches. I asked about a beverage cart and was told there isn't one. So we ordered 12 Coors Lights and some ice. The waitress comes back with 5 Coors and 7 Mileler Lites because they are out of Coors.
I understand that F&B is not a general function of a golf course but a simple beer and hotdog should ALWAYS be accessable. Especially when it is sitting on a Hilton property.
Decent round of golf for $50 but ruined by this issue.

Great Course, good value!

Nice track. Played as a single; $49 on GolfNow. Paired up with another single. Great guy! Pace was terribly slow; two SLOW twosomes, and at least two fivesomes out. I know it's a Tuesday in September, but C'mon man!

Nice course

I played the Island and the Woodland courses. Both were very nice. The only problem that I had was that the greens were potmarked with unfixed divets. A little irritating. Other than that, I loved the course.

nice layout...well maintained

We played Island/Woodland. The course was in wonderful condition. The greens were not overly fast. There are many traps with lots of sand in each one. There are some hard holes and some birdie holes. It is a good test of golf.

Weekday play is paced well.

Course in decent shape.
Played as a threesome. In 3.5 hours. But this was a Wednesday. Weekends can be snails pace. Attentive cart girl , but NO halfway house for Sammy. Had to go inside and wait 10 minutes for a lousy ham sandwich.
One of my partners had an ACE!!!
Price point... $38 weekday in high season. Avoid weekends!

this course has good features

The only thing I would say about Indian Lakes, is where were the beverage carts. Not a single one on any of the 3 9 hole courses.

Not on the weekend

Two and one half hours for front nine. Made the turn...three foursomes on the tee. Rude staff. Not enough staff....no rangers. They just keep pushing and pushing people out in the course...and they have zero idea how yo handle 3 nines. None. Never play here again.

Not worth your time

I'm golf addict, and I live very close to Indian Lakes. I hadn't played there in a number of years because of the pace and conditions. There was a good deal on golfnow, so I thought I'd give them the benefit of the doubt. After all, it had been about four years since I played there.
Well, nothing has changed. And, here are the issues they have:
1. Pace is awful. There are zero rangers on the course to get anyone to try to play at what I would call a "normal" pace. Our round was five hours-ugh.
2. The course is in bad shape. Unrepaired divots and ball marks everywhere. I got sick of fixing so many I finally stopped. I felt like the course should have paid me to play since I did so much work on it. Same problem with the bunkers. There are plenty of rakes, but nobody seems to use them. This issue is about the clientele, yes, but if the course was monitored with rangers that would tell players what is expected, it might be in better shape.
3. The GPS is inaccurate (I use a bushnell). There were a number of holes where the GPS showed between 160 to 190 yards, and these numbers were off by as much as 15 yards. The majority of the distances from around 170 were off by 8-10 yards. Some holes showed the flag in a position different from where it actually was.
