Very dissapointing
When I started golfing I played this course often, it was never a crown jewel, but it had a hint of a fairway and average greens. I believe this course was closed due to flooding over the last year and half the course was shut down. I booked a tee time to bring another new player to the game and it was quite dreadful. The entire course is grass/weeds. Sunset GC use to be the place to go hack around and every lie was the same regardless of where you landed, but that title now is equally shared by Twin Wells. The course was a ghost town on this particular Saturday. I was expecting to take 4-5 hours as I use to back then, but I finished it well under three hours and could have forgone the last few holes as I could not wait to get out of there. The greens all all dirt for the most part. Bunkers are now gravel like. The city needs to strongly consider either shutting the course down or dropping several million into it to bring me back.
Overpriced, Obstinate Staff, No Etiquette
Awful course conditions, several areas entirely unplayable due to giant holes dug up in fairways and around greens. Greens are so fast you might as well just pick up and go. No one on the course including the employees had any idea about golf etiquette. Sickening to pay money for such a poorly run course.
Course is good
I enjoy playing this course and it's in decent shape. The greens still need a little work but otherwise it's as expected for this time of year. The older gentleman in the clubhouse was not very cordial, actually kind of a jerk. Twice.
Crisp Sunny Day
Not my first time playing here. Play here primarly because it is close to the airport to fly out later in the day. Tee box, fairway all in very good codition. Greens as good as expected for late March ( firm). Very few divots left unfixed. ( loved that) . Sand traps need to be groomed. Todays play was Cart Path only, the GPS system in the cart will let you know if you deviate by shutting down the golf cart. Very Freindly staff, plus there was a lot of crews working to get the irrgation system up and running.in a few holes. Pace of play was slow at times. Just the luck of the draw on the various combo of players out this day. Most of the time I fly through the course in under 4 hours. Nice fair layout, still a fan of the old Twin Wells Course before this one was redone and renamed However, it looks very much like the staff is committed to keeping this course in good shape. I say that because in the last two weeks , I have played three other courses that allowed 90 degree rule and their fairways were softer and wetter than the Irving Golf Course. Thank you for forcing me to burn a few extra calories on this crisp and windly day. I had fun today.
Mixed review
Course was in good overall condition. Greens were quick and in good shape. Fairways were acceptable, but had some bare spots.
Pace of play was slow, as it took 4hrs and 35 minutes to play during the middle of week. Computers were down so could not get food or drinks without cash.
Irving Golf Course
Great muni course. Not overly crowded. Had to adjust to TX wind…lol. Fun day with my daughter thanks
Good track, a little slow
it's in good condition for this time of year. Not too long, not too short.
Course Closed Without Notification
Paid for a round and then drove 25 miles out there to see a gentlemen locking up the gate. He advised they were closing for the day (this was around noon) due to how slow it was that day for them. It would have been nice to be informed of this way earlier before I drove 40 minutes to there and had to drive back.
Always A Good Place To Play
Irving Golf Course is one of my favorite places to play. The course is always in real good condition, but it was very wet today, I guess that they had a lot more rain than usual. The greens were in great shape. The only problem was the pace of play. Even though because of the course being wet it was cart path only, there was this one group ahead of us that had two full holes open in front of them, and they were in no rush to catch up, even a little bit. Other than that, it was a good round.
Great course
It is an all around great course. Pace of play is slow but that doesn’t really bother me.
Closed course
On 1/11/24 we arrived for our tee time only to find out the course was closed due to the impending cold weather coming. We understand that the greens were going to be covered but it would have been nice to be contacted if they were going to be covered so early. A phone call or some form of contact would have been nice. One of our players had driven quite a distance to play.
Home course
Irving has become my home course as a resident/ senior
Best bang for the $
I have brought my friends from very upscale clubs who find it very playable . Traps all functioning, greens great , fairways solid
In fact we have named it Dallas National North A it sits on the same terrain about 4 miles due north of that great club . The greens were actually pretty comparable all year to that venue . A round at “ The Nat “ is $200 a round at IGC
$35 .
Always a great time
Love this course every time I’ve played it. Friendly staff, great view of Downtown Dallas on hole 10 and just overall great course.
