About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2017 after Hurricane Harvey.
One of the earliest courses in the Kingwood area, this shot-maker's course rolls through a dense forest along the north bank of the San Jacinto River and has long been one of the best golf values around Houston.
At Kingwood you have the chance to start off strong, with 8 of the first 9 holes being wide open, straight, and having minimal hazards. The most difficult hole on the front is the impressive, doglegging 360-yard No. 8, which curls around the lake and plays into a severely sloping, two-tiered green.
The more difficult back nine, which is longer and more narrow, starts off with a 527-yard par 5 that doglegs left at 225 yards off the tee. Play a cautious shot into the dogleg, as water is on the right side of the fairway and will catch booming drives.
The late 1990s ushereed in renovations that have improved the course significantly, including tee box improvements and a new irrigation system.

Fantastic course
I have played this course for two years, I have never experienced a bad time here. The staff is very professional and friendly while the fairways and greens are maintained to perfection. I recommend all golfers to try this course out!
Beware of the Par 3's!
This course is fairly easy for the most part, but watch out for the Par 3s. From the tips, they played 203, 217, 192, 183. This was a fun course to play and it is in pretty good shape for the $30 green fees.
Cove
Course was in good condition, but it was hot! Several holes on the back nine-no water to drink!
First Timer
I have been trying to play this course for quite some time, and I'm glad I finally did. The course tested more than my skills and patience. I totally enjoyed this beautiful tree lined paradise.
Coming Together
I play this course quite often as it is close to work. It has come a long way in 2 years that I have been going. It has gone from a very beat up course to one that is starting to come around nicely. This is a good course for a fast game or for a beginner to learn on.
A notch above cow pasture status.
I have been going to this course regularly for the last 14 years. During that time I have seen KC employ an interesting business strategy-prices have remained absolutely stationary while the course itself has degraded. Bare bones maintenance has yielded bumpy greens and multiple areas of ground under repair. What keeps this above cow pasture designation are the layouts, which require some strategy yet do not gobble balls and allow for a decent pace of play and low scores. The prices and lack of a dress code attract a disproportional amount of hackers who if unversed in proper "play through" etiquette will drastically slow down your pace of play. Overlook these nuisances and you can find this low grade course to be entertaining.
Kingwood cove
First time playing this course and I really enjoyed it, ended up playing two rounds. The course isn't very difficult, most holes are straight shots. Fairways are wide and the greens were decent. The friendly staff is what impressed me the most, everyone at the course I encountered were super nice people trying to ensure I enjoyed my round. I'll definately be back.
good, cheap golf
great price, good course, good staff, great time with friends or by yourself
THIS COURSE IS SUB-PAR
FROM THE GROUCHY OLD STARTER TO NEVER SEEING A BEVERAGE CART TO REALLY SLOW PLAY IN FRONT OF US THE LIST GOES ON AND ON. WILL NEVER PLAY HERE AGAIN.
Course needs work on sand traps
When I first moved to Humble from southeast Houston I wanted to find a course that was close to work and home. I found this course, first time I played the course I thought that this track needs work on their sand bunkers and drainage of these traps but over all it's easy to avoid the bunkers. The price is a little lower then my first thought.
Average course good for high handicapper
The course is in OK condition, but it probably isn't from lack of staff attention. Its just an old course. I don't know when it was built but it looks to be 1950s-60s era. The cart paths have been paved a couple times over, tree roots are buckling up most of them, and there are a lot of older, poorly maintained homes lining the course. The back 9 is more scenic, but overall the aesthetics of the course as a whole are, well, just old. Sand traps are pretty rough condition, mud/water in them.
On the good side, there are some tight driving holes, some good long par 4s, and the par 3s are mostly longer and more difficult that average. A few are 190 yds even from the white. The greens have good grass and are well maintained, but generally slow and are hard to read.
Overall its a nice course, and the staff is nice and probably doing what they can to maintain it with limited funds. Wasn't crowded, good hot dog, but overall the discount tee times probably should be more in the low $20s than $30.
Affordable fun!
The fairways are in decent shape but the greens could use a little work. The course could also use some directional arrows to the next tee box. Maybe because it rained the day before but the mosquitoes were out in force. Overall, it was an enjoyable outing for our group. The price was affordable, although we played on a much better course the previous week and payed less. Would I comeback again. Sure.
Disappointed
This is the first time I have played this course in quite a few years and I was really disappointed at how run down the course was. It was a fun course to play but not anymore.
Good greens. Great value for the money.
Smooth greens. Well maintained. Convenient location for Kingwood residents. Good value. Friendly staff.
love it
will play again and bring some friends close to home keep up the good work
Decent greens but needs some TLC
The greens were in decent shape considering we are in the heat of the summer. The carts are in horrible shape. Tried 3 carts and the brakes didn't work in any of them. Almost put the cart in the creek due to lack of brakes. The cart paths need to be repaved or just turned into dirt.
Good course for the money
Not a bad course for the money. It is maintained about the best that it probably could be given its location. Pace of play was a little slow and the marshall did not seem to care.
