GREAT SHAPE!
I'm 48 and I've played off and on here since my early 20s. There was a period where the course wasn't in great shape. That's no longer the case. The greens were outstanding. The fairways were great. The only reason I give 4 stars is because there are still a few spots where the ground very hard, but that's why I should stay in the fairway. 🤣🤣🤣 It was a windy day, but I chose Country View because the tree lines diminish a lot of the impact from the wind. I will be back, hopefully more frequently.
Country View Lancaster, TX
this course is quite challenging. All the Tee Boxes and Green are elevated. This made chipping onto the Green a bit difficult, if you were short the ball was rolling downhill.
The Greens were is very good condition. The fairways were in fairly good condition, and you needed an extra club length, if you were in the rough because it was rather thick.
All in all, we enjoyed playing it, b/c it was new to me. It was a little cold and windy to start, but weather got a little better as the day progressed.
Hidden Gem A very fun course to play
Very fun course to play, but you need to bring you A game!
Fun, Interesting Layout
For a city run muni, Country View a very good layout. First hole is a nice easy par 4 - then things get tougher.
Quite a few elevated greens along with a little water, and a creek on #7 make for a challenging 9.
Elevated greens on 10 - 11 mean hitting the ball high in the air and land softly. #12 presents an interesting decision with the tree between the tee and green.
15 takes a very accurate shot into the green.
#17 takes a high tee shot over the trees to reach the middle of the fairway, and accuate shot into the green to avoid the water.
A wide variety of golf holes that will use every club in the bag.
Fast greens and challenging layout. However...
.I felt that over value was good for the course bit one thing stood out was the extreme high mound greens on aost every hole. I get it u need them for it location and topography, but some were 10-20ft in air. Have to make sure balls stay on green or they roll all way down. Chipping difficult due to not a lot of flat area to chip from. Other than that, had fun and will come back again.
Challenging course
This course, although not long at all, is quite difficult and requires a bit of thought and precise shots to shoot an acceptable score.
My first time playing so had to learn the hard way about the hazards and yardages to avoid them.
17 the #1 handicap is a bit over the top for difficulty and i think would leave most golfers frustrated.
Greens were fantastic and fast fairways and T box’s were good
Great first time experience!
Had a great time for my fist time playing here! Definitely a course you need to play more than once to get an understanding of how to play the layout. Shorter course, so able to work on your iron play and short game.
Good Deal, Would Play Again
Would definitely recommend an earlier tee time right now with the heat. We started a little after 7 and the last few holes were miserable around 11. Course is in pretty good condition considering the drought. The course being in a flood plain was interesting with elevated tee boxes and greens. The no sand bunkers was nice too.
Our golf group has played at a large number of courses in DFW and Country View has become our go to time and time again. Firstly, staff and management are fantastic and welcoming. I always leave wanting to come back because of it. Then the course itself is well taken care of (especially during times where other courses get out of shape easily), a fun layout and challenging in all the right ways. Not to mention a great value. Will continue to be our go to course in DFW.
Challenging but fair
Country View seems to be a city owned golf course that provides a necessary service to the area golfers. The day that I played the greens were recently aerated so I would certainly like a redo. I loved the green complex, undulations and size. The tee markers looked like they hadn’t been moved for a few days as the teeing ground was extremely worn. The fairways were a little long but certainly playable. The areas outside the fairways and around the greens were unkempt, which lead to a 5 1/2 hour round. I can definitely see the potential of the course but it needs a lot maintenance to reach that potential. With that being said, I would definitely play Country View again when the issues are resolved.
Stay Hydrated but No Water Available on Course
It was a very hot day to play golf. While there were snacks and water available at the Club House, No provision was made with the Snack Cart on the Course. In addition, there were signs that said, "No personal coolers, drinks, or food allowed on the course." The staff said it is hot so stay hydrated but made no provision and also prohibited taking our own. This is not a golfer friendly experience.
Well-maintained course
This course is well-maintained. For the price, it may have the best greens of any public course in the DFW area. The staff is very friendly, great amenities and it is a challenging course. I highly recommend this course. It is an old traditional course. Most of the greens are elevated which gets mixed reviews. Give it a play, you won’t be disappointed.
Not Customer Friendly
The sign says “No coolers, drinks, or food allowed on the course.” Yet in 105 degree weather, no beverage cart was provided. I called front desk to ask if beverage cart was coming; answer was “They went home for the day.” I had to drive back to clubhouse to get water. Snack bar was closed too. No ice buckets were provided and I could not bring mine and then no beverage cart came by. It was miserably hot and no water available. Nice course but no customer service. Very poor service.
