Could be better
We played the Creek Course. I’ve played Meadowbrook courses several times over the years. I don’t understand why the City of Lubbock doesn’t offer a better quality municipal course. The layout is very good. Fairways hardly have any grass. At best, the greens were barely ok. Tee boxes are pretty barren, no ball washers, cart paths pretty rough. Trees have lots of dead branches, haven’t been trimmed in years. I want to like this course but it’s just so poorly maintained. The City of Lubbock should be ashamed.
David, thank you for writing this review of our golf course. We appreciate your want to like our course and hope you continue to return for future rounds. The points you bring up are valid and things we will work on going forward, except for the ball washers. We do feel we have improved quite a bit over the past 3-4 years and we will continue working to improve.
Thank you for your review! We're happy to hear you enjoyed your experience and hope to see you back out soon!
Canyon
Very friendly staff/ well kept course/finished 18 in three hours!!
Fun course, great rate
I was pleasantly surprised to find the course in pretty good shape considering the very little rain we’ve had. Greens were fantastic and I could tell the grounds crew has been putting in a lot of hard work. The rate I got was exceptional but the pace of play could have been a little better. I’ll definitely play here again.
Twilight Fees
$16 for a twilight round. No gripes here. Honestly the Creek course is best it’s been in years.
Great value.
Greens were pretty well maintained and the course was fun to play. Great for young golfers too.
Nice time
Course is in good shape for as little rain as we’ve had. Pace of play was good except for one foursome toward the end that wouldn’t allow faster, smaller groups to play through. They must have had money on each hole as long as they were on the green. Clubhouse staff was friendly and helpful.
Best condition I’ve seen it BUT…hawks
This is by for the best condition I’ve seen this course in. I’ve played this course several times and it’s always been “get what you pay for“ but I was really pleased to see how green it was and how well taken care of it was. There are definitely some improvements here and there but for what I paid and the lack of rain, it was fantastic.
BUT!!! Holes 12 through 17 are infested with hawks. Usually hawks don’t startle me much. However, one dove at my head while I was attempting to play a shot and I literally had to dive out of the way. I quickly moved away from that area and while I was putting on the green another one started diving towards me again. Over the next few holes hawks were flying all around and they never came at me but it definitely affected how I played and how much fun I was having because I was constantly looking over my shoulder. When I brought this up at the end of my round with some workers inside, they said it was normal and that they have a nest around there.
I wonder what will happen when somebody eventually shows up with open wounds because the talons of the hawks actually got to a person?
I gave it two stars because it really was in good condition considering the lack of rain we have had this year and I was having a lot of fun! This probably could’ve been a four or five star review except for the last six holes I was tensed up the entire time, more worried about getting attacked by a hawk then I was about where my ball was going.
Thank you for your review! We are overjoyed to hear you enjoyed your experience and hope to see you many more times over the summer!
