It's a golf course...
Enjoyed our round at Stonegate. It's an average west Texas course with a lot of dirt and not much grass. Greens were good, soft but slow. For just a causal round it's fun to play but wouldn't play here every day.
GREAT PRACTICE COURSE
I HAVE PLAYED THIS COURSE FOR A LONG TIME AND HAVE SEEN THIS COURSE IMPROVE YEAR AFTER YEAR - I MUST SAY THE NEW OWNERS AND STAFF ARE DOING A TREMENDOUS JOB AND ARE SOME OF THE FRIENDLIEST PEOPLE YOU'LL EVER GET TO MEET AND ARE COMMENTATED TO YOU HAVING THE BEST EXPERIENCE AT THEIR FACILITY
Course Improving
I have seen a lot of work on this course and it is improving. It is a good value for your money. You won't find friendlier staff anywhere. The back 9 par 3s help me work on my short game.
Course is Improving
The course is looking better overall. I see a lot of work going in to get it in good shape for this Spring/Summer. You won't find a friendlier staff anywhere.
Great Course
Stone Gate is improving on their greens and fairways. It is a family oriented course. If you ever have a question or need help in anything, the Owner is very informative. This course has tournaments for men and women that are fun to play. On Saturdays, they have a womens clinic during the summer. The golf pro will definitely improve your over all game. I like Stone Gate because the back nine are all par 3's. It is fun and challenging.
Great course for the money
The old saying "you get what you pay for" applies here. He course is split up where the front 9 is a regular course with par 3, 4, & 5. The back 9 is all par 3s. The front is perfect. Fairways and greens are nice. The back however has many issues with the greens. There are sand patches all over the back 9 greens. With that being said you can avoid the back if you want they allow you to play the front nine twice if you'd like. All in all its a good course for the price you pay
Course needs work!
Greens are in horrible condition (huge dead spots and pits everywhere), fairways were not mowed and Tee boxes were hard as a rock. Course needs major work and attention.
Poor excuse for a golf course
This was the worst course I've ever played. You book a tee time thinking it is YOUR tee time. When I arrived at the club, the gentleman working the register was telling everyone to "tee off whenever you're ready". Needless to say, there was a "logjam" of people trying to tee off...all with no Marshall in site of course. Pace of play was brutal as we would wait extended periods of time before teeing off on the next hole. And then the condition of the course...wow!!! Couldn't hammer tees in the ground because it was so hard! Literally broke my 8 iron on a shot I put on the green from about 140 yards out. There was a single guy in front of my group who was just as disgusted as we were. My group, as well as the single player in front of us, packed it in after 9 holes and left. I would not recommend this course to anyone for any reason. It needs a lot of work and leadership in a bad way.
Course needs work
The concept of 9 regular holes and 9 par 3s is a great idea. The greens on the back 9 need lots of work. Putting was impossible on a few greens due to large areas of sand where grass was missing. Had a decent time.
Greens
Greens on the back nine were in very bad shape. The course was flooded earlier in the year so the greens may have been damaged.
Green area
Compared to what it used to,it's doing ok but right now because of the continuous rain we had . But it'll be better if the staff will take care of the green area more .
The greens were in good shape
Had a great time me and the husband play and had a lot of fun can't wait to do it again
Not worth playing
The executive 9 is acceptable for beginners. The back 9 is a goat pasture. No, goats probably wouldn't go there either. The greens literally had huge patches of missing grass (50% or more surface area on multiple holes). It's time to either invest a few dollars or close this place down!
One of the Worst Gold Coures Ive ever seen
This place was probably preety nice unitl maintaince stopr 40+ years ago . . .It should be closed! I wihs I has taken pictures . . . it was horrible.
Easy to get tee time
Greens are the worst in lubbock 14 of 18 holes had big dirt spots all over the greens
This course had a great layout
This course was fun and exciting to play however the fairways and greens needed some help to bare spots thought it was a little overpriced for what you're getting but overall it was a decent course
Greens need attention and tee boxes
Great customer service but course needs some attention.
