This place has potential
This has been touted as the loneliest course in the world during the pandemic. It is a course in a spit of America in a town populated by a mere 1000 residents. It was closed down for two years during the pandemic and has recently reopened. It was a ton of fun. The course is rough around the edges but in time it should be a gem. Bring lots of balls. The bushes eat them up. Staff is amazing and genuine. Very easy border crossing both ways.
I will be back.
Good to have it back
After a number of years of terrible conditions, new owners have come in and are bringing this place back to where it used to be. Great value for the $$ and a fun place to play.
Course is on it's Way Back to it's Original Splendor on the Grass
Absolutely the Most Improved course I played in the past year. New Owners are investing to get this course back to it's original plan. They've brought back Wayne Carleton the original designer to assist in this project and hired a capable management team.
Wayne did one of the most incredible designs I've seen carving the course into the natural terrain.
Greens have been rebuilt and were a bit slow and a little bumpy. Once the root system is fully developed they'll be able to cut them tight and fast.
Fairways have gone from hardpan dirt to mostly perfect. Still a few patches growing in but considering it's summer in the PNW (very dry) they are very playable. Fairways and Greens are protected by Bunkers that are playable. sand is a bit heavy in damp or wet conditions.
The fairways are reasonably generous but all carved through the woods. If you hit into the treed areas there's no chance to play out, they're naturally wooded and not manicured like you see on many courses. This isn't a maintenance issue it's an important design feature.
Every hole offers a unique challenge. None look the same.
High handicappers and beginners might get frustrated quickly so I'd suggest this course will appeal more to Mid/Low Handicap golfers.
If you play early BUG SPRAY is a must!!!
In 2003 GD rated this course the 8th Best New Course in USA and I'll suggest by 2019 it will be back on the radar as one of the Top Public courses in Washington State.
Needs Work and Amenities
Seems like new owners are trying which is great to see. Course is slowly coming back into shape but they do not have enough staff to maintain to a high level. A bit overpriced at the current time considering prices to play courses across the border .
Beautiful setting.
Driving range could be much better.
Suggestion to the restaurant. Have a better selection of craft beers and do a couple of food items really well so people can relax after a round.
My Lawn Looks Better
I used to come here often. It's been 2yrs and we played cause it was $10 through golfnow.com. now I know why. The tee boxes barely had grass. They haven't cut the fairways in what seems likes yrs. Couldn't telon where the fairway and rough meet. Lots of patches of grass in the fairway mixed with lots and lots of sand and moss. This courses has gone way downhill.
Farmers Field
My wife and I played 18 holes here and I have absolutely nothing good to say about it. Overall very poor condition, the greens were brown, no grass in the tee boxes and very little grass in the fairways. I will not return.
The worse experience ever
DO NOT VIDIT THIS PLACE, it is absolutely disgusting. The staff are not honest at all, they course looks awful and when you asked them what is tge problem. Their answer is: we have a draught season. OH REALLY???? When I investigate further, the problem is that the owner owes the City of Point Roberts over $56,000.00 in water bills, the city triend in many instances to have an understanding with the owner without luck. That is the reason and this place should be completely excluded from GolfNow because they are not fair to all clients.
Horrible shape
This is the worst course I have seen. The fairways are more dirt and mud than grass. The greens are the best part of the course and they had no consistently (one decent, one bad). I have never had to wipe mud off my face after hitting a 2nd shot from the middle of the fairway and will not be back to try it again. Save your money, this course is absolutely disgusting.
Gone seriously downhill
A beautiful course up to last year...played it quite a few times over last 10 years. Something has gone seriously wrong. We booked a tee time and arrived to find the fairways were parched dry and in horrible condition. There were very few cars in the parking lot. We questioned the attendant who was very polite. It seems there is a water problem of some sort. Whatever the issue is it needs to be fixed or this course will not be in business next season. We turned around and drove away without playing. Very disappointing!
Awful..... Do not go
Tee tee box, fairway, green condition are awful. Totally different then what I played there last year. Do not know what is going on. Do not waste your money to go there.
Tough Times at the Point
If the course architect could see what has happened to what was once a beautiful course, he would pull his name from the marquee for sure. This one really shook me - I'm sure the staff would love to take pride in it, but it must be hard to go to work there every day. You cannot enjoy this course at any price. Hopefully someone can invest and resurrect it, but I won't play here again.
lack of watering caused grass to be burt out
until problem above is solved recommend not playing in summer months
Lack of Course Maintenance!
Not long ago one of my favorite courses in the area.Today the course is in very poor condition. Fairways are not playable, dry cracked and many patches no grass at all. Greens are sand based and a little better. Can stop your approach shots but the green surfaces are not in playable condition.
The course design is very good and the scenery very nice.Much better alternative courses nearby.
Like the course, but needs some attention
I really like this course, super interesting and very scenic. Early in the season, so the tee boxes and greens could do with some care.
Hidden Gem
The course layout is great, in a beautiful location.
The playing surface needs some work, but that doesn't detract from the challenge of the course.
You will loose some balls here, but you will probably find a few on your round.
Still better than most
The layout is excellent, hadn't changed. The fairways are in fair shape due to a lack of grass. The greens are still pretty good considering the tough times for this course. The people who work there are very good people, it is nice to see them whenever I can get there. There is a lack of players which is good from a tee time point of view but from a funding point of view it's not good. Still my favourite course in all the Lower Mainland
Wispy fair way drags the value of the course
I cannot find any fault with the course except partly wispy or sparse lawn on some fair ways probably caused by rare drought this summer. Otherwise perfect.
terrific layout
I can understand the negative reviews because if you haven't .played here before or don't understand the situation you will find the conditions patchy at best...although the greens seem to be better than they were last year.
If you are returning it's probably because, like me, you really like the layout and because the fairways hold up reasonably well to wet weather. Still a real bargain if you use golfnow.
not it good condition
I have been trying to get out to Point Bob for many years but apparently I should have come earlier as the course is now in a sad state. I played with a friend who had played there many times in the past and he was very disheartened to see the conditions we faced. firstly there was very little if any grass on many of the fairways, the greens had been watered but some had large chunks of grass out of them. The layout was great and I am sure that in its day it would have been awesome, but not anymore. hopefully someone can come in there and turn this place around.
Nice course
Nice course but still suffering from the dry summer. Hard pan fairways but greens will hold the ball
