Evergreen Golf Course is an 18-hole, public course that is located west of Denver on the shore of Evergreen Lake. It is conveniently located only about 30 minutes from Denver. It is an affordable option that offers a good game. The golf course is widely known for its excellently manicured greens and also its immaculate maintenance. Water hazards come into play on only three holes but the entire course is also well-bunkered. The terrain is quite hilly and there are many dogleg fairways, both providing even more challenge. Evergreen Golf Course's natural beauty is made up of Ponderosa Pines that are sprinkled throughout and scenic mountain views from nearly every tee.

Great Course with Great Views

Besides the tee boxes that were a little rough the rest of the course was awesome. Great golf course for the price.

Nice change of pace

The Evergreen Golf Course is a nice change of pace to my normal weekend links style courses I tend to play. The course is short, really short, and does make you have to wait on a couple par 4's that are drivable. There are a couple holes that are fun shots to greens that have a lot of slope to them off to one side that make you pay a price for missing. Greens are not that true, ball bounces a lot and all over the place. Overall we did have fun as it is a pretty course overlooking the lake and seeing some wildlife (elk, marmots etc) is fun.

Could Use Some Work

This course is beautifully set in the foothills of the Rockies just a short drive from Denver. However, the course itself could use some work. Greens and tee boxes were in very rough shape, making it near impossible to putt well. Despite the natural beauty and great layout, this course is not really worth the $50 you'll spend.

Mountain Golf

First time playing Evergreen. Staff was super friendly and the course was in great shape. Played the full 18 walking with two family members and an add on who had booked as a single (very friendly guy). Pros: course is in a gorgeous location and it's an executive course so if you aren't long off the tee, this won't be an issue. If you are, you're looking at driving greens multiple times. Greens were in good shape. Pace of play was 'ok', a bit bag logged here and there on the front nine but the back nine picked up. I walked with a push cart and you get your steps in and go up and down that's for sure!

Cons: hard layout with a lot of blind shots. I don't fault them on this as the course is all but built into the side of a mountain. But you're definitely going to hit a fair number of blind tee shots with no idea whether the people in front of you are out of range or not.

PS third hole is a fun experience. Some will call it gimmicky, I liked it. You hit straight over a boulder 100 or so yard shot onto the green. You ring a bell when you finish.

Poor greens and fairways

They opened wayyy too early. None of the greens were playable in any respectable way, either sand or rough grass with major depressions. The bathrooms were locked all day so the female of our party had to drive all the way to the clubhouse. No water jugs in any of the dispensers. It just seems like they should have waited a few more weeks to open.

Definitely good bang for your buck if you’re happy with not using your driver every hole. I would pay $50 for 18 w/ cart every time to play this course. Challenging lies constantly but the views alone are worth the greens fee. And yes, the greens could use some work but I’m not planning on being on tour anytime soon so it didn’t bug me as much as others. I’d rate the overall value an 8.5/10

This course needs maintenance

The City of Denver owns this course in the foothills. I have played it for the last 10 years. It is in need of some tender loving care. Cart trails are rutted and appear to have not been graded in the last 10 years. Some greens are well maintained some not so much.

Terrible layout and terrible players

I guess I should preface this with the fact that I should expect poor players on a 5,000 yard course but holy cow, I guess this is the course to play if you can’t break 150. Literally not an exaggeration, I saw some of the worst golf from a lot of players. Course layout is terrible which adds to the wait. Par 69 at 5,000 yards from the back took 5 hours to play. I mean there’s a par 3 that you have to hit over boulders that have an arrow on it to direct you where to hit. So wonkey. Course conditions were not good either. Will not come back to play this course. The only good thing is that the course has great views. I guess if you’re a VERY high handicapper, it wouldn’t be so bad.
