Pro shop
I paid for a round of golf on GolfNow at Margaritaville for my brother-in-law and I. I have played this course many times over the years and have always paid online with GolfNow. When we arrived at the pro shop, the employee at the desk disputed that we had paid online. He said that GolfNow always requires payment at the course and that we owed for the green fees. I told him that I'm always pay online and showed him my receipt from GolfNow indicating "0 owed at course". He wouldn't accept this and insisted that we owed for the green fees. I told him to call the manager and he said he was away. But, that he was going to check with "some members" that he saw in the parking lot. He did, then admitted that he was wrong all along. Great! But. not something we should have had to put up with while waiting for him to find out he was wrong. Bad experience that was uncalled for. I hope GolfNow will let this course know that payment is accepted by them when the reservations are made.
My 2 cents
Course overall was in good condition. Pace of play was pretty slow at times but not all day. Course does require accuracy because it is fairly tight with not much room from fairway edge to out of bounds in several places.
Great course
Course layout is great. Pace was pretty good... could have pairedv players to eliminate singles. Only had interaction with staff while getting cart. He was a bit rude, but I would still recommend this course.
Only hot 9 holes in due to Rain
Greens were overall very good. Fairways were a bit spare but ok for March. Overall very good
Cold day by the lake
Great greens....Very consistense....The fairway has sufferered the latest cold weather but overall great place to come back
Short course, quick play
Although I do wish the Greens were in just a little bit better shape. I get it, mid-march calm down. The course is not very long, very hard to pull out your Driver and really give it a whack. If you want a quick round, and work on your irons and who doesn't need to right, then I suggest here. If you are meeting a buddy and you both are great ball strikers, you might be disappointed. I hope this helps. Have a great Season, keep your head down.
ezpong
1st time playing course was in pretty good shape. Will do it again and regular if I can get it for around 30 would not pay 40 or more as stated shape not bad but not great.
Good value for money
Greens were in very good shape, it’s clear that the new management has invested in the course. Bunkers could use some work.
Greens Much Improved
I've played this course about a dozen times over the last 3 years. The greens are dramatically better than past visits. Medium speed and no loner any big bare spots. Cart paths have been addressed as well. Only complaint now is the bunkers. Sand is inconsistent and many looked like they have not been raked in forever.
Fun round with friends
It’s always nice to play golf at Margaritaville on Lake Conroe. The layout presents plenty of challenges. It’s fun and affordable. We’ll be back soon.
Cart girl scam
Course in normal winter conditions. Bunkers still hard as a rock and not raked. Cart girl gave me a Powerade & snickers bar. Said it was $7.50 so I gave her a $20. She said she didn’t have change so I told her that’s ok bring it by next time you come round. The next time she came around she drove past me when I was hitting to the green that was the last time I saw her. Guess she thought $13.50 was her tip. First time I’ve seen this cart girl but I’ll be talking to her if I see her again she owes me a couple drinks.
Wet winter conditions
Staff always nice, course is wet and winter conditions are the same as 80% of the public courses in SE Texas this time of year. Front 9 still the teeth of the course. Back 9 opens up for a more relaxed finish. Bunkers were hard except where someone walked or dug their feet in and didn’t rake. Not fun to get out of. Like chipping off hard pan and trying to get the ball to check, not fun. Other wise pace of play was a non issue and limited to how long it took to hole out. No one to wait on and no one pushing us. Usually happens when playing on a 39 degree clear day.
